Yeah, I understand as I hear that from my parents but I think Obama is different (we will have to agree to disagree)! And ask me in a few months if Hillary is the nominee, on how I feel about voting for her - could be different.
I am 50 and have been around voting for awhile so I tend to be a little more cynical than you have had a chance to be yet Feel blessed for that.

I have listened to candidates for so many years and have heard so many promises that after awhile you just want issues and facts and how it will get paid for. Have heard all the hoopla and inspiration.

If I was younger I have no doubt my first vote would be for Obama....

I like him and think he will do a good job but my issue is more with experience at a time of war and the problems in the middle east and being a nurse ...Health care!!!!

To many years I have seen the polls have no young voters and am so happy to see them all come out no matter who they vote for:thumbsup2
I totally understand what you are saying. I have to say, I am so happy about the turnout in this election. I was President of the College Democrats when I was in college and I proudly put that on my resume - since I was interviewing at Big 4 accounting firms and other financial firms in NY, I met with a lot of Republicans who interviewed me. I'd always get the question "Do you think having the party of which you were President of a bad thing on a resume?" And I would always say (and this is how I led my group in college) - I was trying to get out the vote for the Democratic candidate but in the grand scheme of things, if a young person disagreed with me, I wanted to make sure they at least stayed engaged and voted for who they thought was best fit. This election has the chance to build a larger party and seeing younger voters like myself involved, is a great thing for this nation.

he was Independant!

But yes I use to belong to the Darkside.....and scratched my head alot...then when Daddy Bush promised READ MY LIPS NO NEW TAXES...and 2 months into his presidancy raised the Taxes.....THAT WAS IT FOR ME.

Became a Democrat for life. And since, sonny boy Bush I have made a solemn vow NEVER to EVER Vote Republican...EVER!:wizard:
Whats a 4 firm?
There are now four large public accounting firms (called Big 4 for short) - it was five and then Arthur Anderson went under after Enron and 8 a while before that.

I did that with Kerry...I was not to happy with him but he was the worse of 2 evils...unfortunatly the anticrist (Bushy baby) won

Dh voted for Bush so he wiped my vote out and it did not count...bad Dh I tell ya Bad DH...

He as going to vote McCain but has come over to our side and will vote for Hillary....he could not vote in the Primary because he did not change his party in time but he does not want to change his Party and wants to remain a Rep

Just does not at all like any of the Rep Candidates and so he has been watching Both Hillary and Obama and has chosen Hillary but who knows that may change.

Oh, I have. I LOVED Bill both times.
I voted for him both times (the only 2 times my vote counted for sumtin!) I wasnt in love with him either, he did do some crappy thing. BUT HE MADE SURE THE MIDDLE CLASS AMERICANS were Happy!:thumbsup2

.

LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS!:snooty:
:lmao:
He aint! Underneath it all he is still a polititian, just like the rest of them!
My rule of thumb is never trust a Polititian, they have to EARN it!:thumbsup2

did you read my earlier postabout the college students that did a polling here at SDSU and USD?
Hi everyone,
Was listening to the radio station here in SD and they were talking to 2 students about last night and the issues brought up about Race, gender and such,...

Well they had 2 guests in the station that were talking about SD State University and USD (University of SanDiego). 2 large Collages here. The 2 schools Debate/political classes got together to poll students at there schools. Well it was very interesting to listen to...

The poll asked questions like....Who is your candidate, why will you vote for them, who will you not vote for and how much do you know about the issues and do gender, Race or your parents beliefs play a role in your decision as a voter. there were a few more questions but did not have a chance to write them down fast enough.

the results....

it turned out that many had no idea about what the issues were for either Rep or Dems but were voting more for theses reasons...

Lets do the Dems first...the ones who have no clue on the issues for the most part

majority of White Men when polled and a small amount of woman stated that they felt we are not ready for a woman Pres. and the main reason was because of PMS and that woman can be mean and cruel:eek: so they were voting for Obama

White Woman chose Obama as the men did due to his charm and likability. They like the way he talks and think that he would be good at talking to other countries for peace.

The other percentage of woman voted for Hillary due to her being a woman

The ones who were politically savvy picked Hillary over obama due to experience and strength and best to carry the country forward in time of war , however felt that she would not win over a Rep if it came down to it.

The Black poll was 90% due to him being black and felt that he is one that could bring them better out of poverty and because they are proud that we finally have a black man to go all the way. They were very caught up with that fact.

Hillary got the other 10% of black vote of woman and men.

When asked about parents half said that yes there parents were voting the same as them and discussed it with then and the other said that there parents were voting different.

Latino and Asians vote was high for Hillary due to immigration (why Asian for that ?)

The war and getting out....was overwhelmingly a YES

They did not like Bush

For the Rep...

McCain got highest votes due to being the best candidate to beat either Dem....

When asked about how they felt about the Rep candidates staying in the war for 100 years...30% who knew about that did not agree with it....70% had no idea:scared1: but agreed for the most part that we need to get out but as the Dem students soon but safe.

Religion had no affect and majority cared less.

They felt Bush was okay but could have done a better job.

The ones that were politically savvy still wanted McCain over the others and felt that staying in the war was however not so much in agreement but we should not pull out if it continues to improve. They also felt that he would do a better job than Bush did and that he could make the war a win for us , and that is something Bush or no other Dem can do.

So that is what I got ...it was very interesting to listen to. They polled thousands of students. All races and genders ages 18-24

O' one other question also was Why are you coming out to vote in this election(something like that) and 60% majority said that said "Because we want change" the other 40% said because of the economy.

That is it .....very interesting and they asked the ones that did not know about the issues also why have they not taken time to follow the debates and such. They said because of work and school there is no time so they discussed the candidates with there friends.
New Jersey being you were on the Debate team in collage you may appreciate this from a coolage poll....

WOW...at the rate we are going we will have tostart a new thread again soon:rotfl2:

DU how old are you? You say you are old I am 50 are you younger or older?

u got 2 years on me

ahhhh younger at heart or in age :rotfl2: you said you voted for Anderson he came about in 1980 so if you were say 18 at that time than you would be around 46 give or take....correct?

so than I would be older however I beat you because 50 is said to be the new 40 :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

never mind I see your hidden mickey :lmao: and I was pretty darn close !lol

on that note I bid you adue(sp)...I am putting theses old bones to be...nighty night.

Could be. I don't want to argue or minimize your feelings. I just wonder why you (generic you here) would think a republican in office would be better that Hillary.

This answer is easy for me, I won't vote for any of the Republican nominees regardless of who gets the nod. They are too conservative for me on social issues, and they are planning to follow much of the same path as GWB.

If Hillary get the nomination, I will vote for her. I think we have to excellent candidates on the democratic side.

Agreed. I think I'm leaning toward Obama when my state's primary comes up next month. But whether it's Hillary or Barack come November, I will vote Democrat.
