The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

A friend of a friend works for the Lt. Gov there and I got some tip of the iceberg type stories. :lmao:

Obama is approaching $8M in the past 36 hours. McCain is lucky have 800K in that timespan.

They're saying Obama could raise as much as $30 MILLION in February alone. The more he wins, the more small donors are going to get on board, or up their previous contributions. This is a lot like what Howard Dean was doing in the early running last go 'round, but on a MUCH larger scale and for a more prolonged period.

Money doesn't always translate into votes, but studies and polls have shown that the more exposure people have to Barack, the more likely they are to vote for him. :thumbsup2

Now that McCain doesn't have to brown nose the evangelicals to get the nomination, I wonder how much effort he's going to spend on them. He does need them in the general election though, while still having to appeal to the moderate Independents. It'll be fun to see him try to spin both groups at the same time.

very true....plus you get people that come out to see what all the hub bub is about and say to themselves...Hmmmm don't know the issues but they must be good or so many would not vote for them so than I will vote for them also:thumbsup2

That is human nature....go with the majority and not the minority....
Yes I am aware that he is getting money...my point was more to the fact that she is getting in money also. Not to imply that she was doing better than Obama...

And who is to say she will loss all the states next week...they did say she will have to work hard. And still keep in mind she has 100,000 more of the popular vote on Tuesday and still at this point has more delegates...but delegates aside.. A 100,000 votes ahead is by far not much, but she turned out to be more popular by 100,000 more people.
Only if you count the "early" votes in California. From what I've heard, Barack beat her with voters that actually cast their vote on Tuesday (can't confirm that...although i did find out that 0.17% of the Democratic voters on Tuesday voted "uncommitted"...why in the heck would you even bother to go if you were voting "uncommitted" ? :lmao: )

Tell you what...if Hillary wins any state between now and "Super Tuesday", I'll make a $25 donation to her campaign, and if she doesn't, you can do the same for Barack. Deal? :thumbsup2

No this was just the count from Tuesday....but it is being counted as pretty much a tie maybe Hillary with a slight lead but it is so close......

He won more States and more delegates on that night however.....she won the larger states and more votes because of it.

in other words put my money where my mouth is :rotfl: I would if i was a Rep but I am happy with both winning...just favore Hillary more. And also they have already said that it will be hard for February but they did not say she would for sure be beat and remember they are not an all win States for the Delegates so she will not walk away empty handed.

I think it's GREAT that they're both having donations pour in right now.

Better that than the alternative!

Isnt that a fact....the thought of another Rep in office that wants 100 years in Iraq and change Roe vs Wade amoung about 10 othere things I can mention is scary:scared1:

But If I was a Rep I would not want a Dem in there also....so guess to each his own.

Mitt is supposedly suspending his campaign today at the CPAC convention.

Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya, Mitt.
Just heard that Mitt Romney is suspending....
Buh-bye! :hippie:

After all was said and done and all was tallied it came to actually .....

Clinton having 579,000 more votes from Tuesdays election.

http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/02/super_tuesday_the_most_interes.html

But this still left the percentage at

The raw numbers grew a bit, but the percentages are exactly the same.
Clinton: 50.2% (7,427,942)
Obama: 49.8% (7,370,023)

So close......

Thsi is also interesting about the Rep vote.....

Here are the numbers just for the 19 states where both parties had elections yesterday
Obama/Clinton voters: 14,460,149
McCain/Romney/Huckabee voters: 8,367,694

Or, 73% more Democratic voters than Republican voters.

A lot of this is huge Democratic numbers in New York and California.

Clinton supporters, what is this 4 pm fundraising announcement hillary has planned? Chris Matthews has said it's a huge unheard of figure. Seems like plan to make it seem like she is running short on cash has worked.

"In this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror. This is not an easy decision. I hate to lose," the former Massachusetts governor said.

"If this were only about me, I'd go on. But it's never been only about me. I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, in this time of war I feel I have to now stand aside for our party and for our country."

This is from Romney's speach - what the hell is he talking about? How is his not running for President have anything at all to do with the War on Terror?

I guess he's saying that by leaving he's allowing the party to get behind McCain and ward off the scary Democrats who want to invite OBL to dinner.

Not sure she could be talking about anything from her contributions that have been coming in since Tuesday or that she today is recognizing National Black HIV/Aids awareness day that she has been involved in for years,,,or that Obama has rejected having any more Dem debates....

Could also be about her new endorsements about her health care...

Here is some stuff maybe this will help....

It amazes me that 25%-30% of the population still support Bush. Boggles my mind.

I think they are actually all Dick Cheney. That's why we never see him. He's too busy posting retorts on the DIS.
