The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

I will say this, however, while Obama can be inspiring, talks a great game, and is a great speaker, I have yet to hear much substance. All I hear is change, blah, blah, blah, tomorrow not yesterday, blah, blah, blah. I was listening to his speech last night and though the first 5 minutes was good, but it kept droning on with the same change language and I kept waiting for something else with a little more meat.

Unless Obama can really put forth some reasonable and pragmatic solutions to the problems facing the country, he may not have as easy of a time with McCain as many here seem to think.

I know what you are saying and I am a straight voting Democrat.
Obama is no doubt a VERY inspiring speaker and he gives great speeches like I never heard before BUT I still think Hillary beats him at all the debates because she goes into how she wants to put her plans into work.
Yeah, I hear all of Obama's plans but I don't hear how he plans on trying to get them to work.

That is why I am a little uneasy about Obama as president.
That is why I am hoping for a Clinton/Obama ticket so Obama can work close to the president.

Since I am a straight voting Democrat, IF Obama in on the ticket in November I will vote for him but I do have some uncertainity about it. JMO :)

Are there actually any Hillary supporters on this thread?

It seems like everyone is for Obama... but somebody must be voting for her since she did so well yesterday! :confused3

jacksonsmom: Seems you answered my question! We posted at the same time.

The looks and sounds of... 'how DARE they not listen to me"...are priceless. All those pompous gasbags have sprung a leak. Way to go McCain! Keep on truckin'. I would never vote for him, but I love him for what he's doing to the poor incredulous pundits. :rotfl:

I just looked at Rush's site, and the entire site is covered with rants about McCain.

And apparently none of them are making a bit of difference.

So sad.

Makes me feel like dancing. :dance3:

Yes - there are Hillary supporters on this thread. And I agree with jacksonsmom - I like Obama but there is just something in my gut saying that this is not his time. I just cannot get away from the idea that although we do need change - we also need someone that knows how to get that change. I am not sure that Obama knows how to make those wheels in Washington turn.

 Yep, I am a Hillary supporter (Obama is my second choice)
I think us Hillary supporters as scared to be eaten alive by the Obama supporters here on the thread :rotfl: ;)

It's odd for me. I was an Edwards supporter, but since he dropped out, I'm kind of feeling very ambivalent about Clinton/Obama. I like them both equally, but don't really feel passionately about either.

My only passion is getting a Dem into the White House. I usually don't vote straight down party lines, but I've had enough of this nonsense for the past 8 years.

You won't be eaten alive, promise!! It will be interesting to see what in what direction the Democratic party eventually chooses to go.

Friends? :goodvibes

Well that's me to a T. I'll vote for him (if he wins the nom), but I'm not sure he's got what it takes to follow through on all he wants to do.

I am thinking though that as strongly as the two of them brought out the vote that a combination of the two will likely be our final ticket. I mean if they continue neck and neck then bringing in a third party for the VP slot will be a complete waste won't it?

I think if Hillary wins then she should offer Obama the VP spot and he should take it, because it will help bring his supporters her way.

I'm not sure she would take a VP spot if he offered it to her, though I would hope she would.

I think the two combined would be great.

I am so pleased Senator Obama won Missouri. :goodvibes "As goes Missouri so goes the nation" at least it has in every race but one since the early 50s. I'm hoping this is a foreshadowing of November! :woohoo:

Yep - Party in our State!

Exactly, thanks for clarifying my thoughts as well (about Obama and his plans, not the prospect of Hillary :scared1: ;) )

Oh I love it too as a moderate republican. I have felt like a person without a party over the last several elections, having had the GOP hijacked by the far right. Hopefully we can pull the GOP back to the center where it belongs (and maybe pull a few conservative democrats our way too....;) )

It was an extremely close call for me. One of the reasons I voted for Obama was the excitement he is generating among young voters. Both of my college interns jumped through hoops yesterday to get back to their home districts in time to vote.

I was thrilled to have choices other than White Old Rich Man (WORM) #1 and White Old Rich Man #2. ;)

As my signature indicates I would be happy with either candidate. My heart is with Obama and I cast my primary vote for him-however I do not feel that to like one means I must dislike the other. I would hate to see the Democratic party tear itself apart from within when we have two excellent candidates, BOTH of which who deserve our respect and support.

I'm still more of a Hillary than an Obama person. I'll certainly vote for which ever wins the nomination. As I've posted before, my biggest gripe with him was his local endorsements here for people who should have been run out of office. Certainly was no signs of "politics of change" by him here last year. That's what honks me off the most about him. A lot of people who would be the type to be strong supporters of him felt real betrayed by his backing hacks.

I hope so too. It's not good for the radical fringes of either party to be running things. You're welcome to wait it out here. :)

Yep, all thoughtful, open-minded folks are welcome to stay a while. (It certainly sounds like I live in Missouri, now doesn't it?:rotfl: ) Seriously, welcome to our little corner of the DIS, UConnJack.

Wow, this thread is motoring!

How long until we have to start #3...maybe by Election Day?
