The Republicans walked out because they think that Congress should be working on other legislation.

Like the Clemens hearings? :rolleyes1

The scuttlebutt is that Bush will pardon him. Why am I not surprised?
Wow so who walked out the Dems or Rep???? any idea....

Geesh there are so many threads going on the DIS about the candidates i cant keep up....:goodvibes
It was the Republican's that walked out just heard that on MSNBC for sure... it was a split screen with Nancy Pelosi talking on one side and somebody I don't recognize speaking on the other... it's gotten little TV time, I'm really dying to see what Pelosi said that must have inflamed them so...

YES! Did you hear about that?? How unbelievable! They spend five hours with that dribble yesterday in order to clear Roger & today the President will pardon him for lying :confused3 Seriously, we have people out of work, dying over seas, houses going into foreclosure, and this is what they have time for...

Without having read or heard anything about it;

I'm fairly confident that the Republicans, now lacking the legislative muscle to squash or not allow any such motion to even come up for a vote (which is what happened over the previous six years), resort to this tactic to try to turn attention away from having the spotlight focus on the White House. (Anyone remember Delta House walking out of the Dean's hearing in Animal House in mock protest? Same thing.)

Oh, and Fits, congrats on your 10,000 post in less than two years. Let me be among the first to note that you truly have no life. You really should give the DIS a break sometime and try posting elsewhere.......:rotfl2:

OMG, I've been here 8 years and not nearly so close to 10K posts :rotfl:

OK, the latest on that walkout, Republican's "boycotted the vote with a walkout" when the vote was taken to hold Myers and the other cohort in contempt... that's what it was all about....

Yanno, on a seperate note, let me make sure I have this straight.

If one is to believe Clemens (and as a Bostonian and a Red Sox season ticket holder, I know how many times he has already lied over the years), he allowed his personal trainer to be with his wife in their bedroom, where she dropped her pants and allowed the trainer to shoot her up on her naked butt with a substance that Clemens knew nothing about, and he wasn't the least bit upset about it.

If that's plausible to anyone, please PM me, and we can begin negotiations on a combined Bridge/Swamplands deal I'm putting together at a really good price.........

I don't even know WHAT to say about that :rotfl2: I'm sorry that is TOO funny...

Clemens "story" was pathetic.

The "other cohort" was White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten...yowza!!! :thumbsup2

Why isn't this getting more play on the news networks? If you ask me it's a rather LARGE deal... I've heard two 30 second blips, that's about it!

RED ALERT, RED ALERT...

Mitt is now saying he is endorsing McCain because he will be best at "ending this global jihad that endangers our civilization as we know it"

Everybody, hide under your pillows until the tide has turned

The American people stopped believing that load of crow cakes a long time ago. The '06 elections proved that. The blatant lie that a Democrat won't keep us safe hopefully died with Karl Rove's jumping off the S.S. Bush. I have every confidence the American people have finally seen that piece of propaganda for the bunk that it is. The only thing the Republicans keep us safe from is progress.

I don't think so, just look around, you see poster's who pander to this stuff, and Bush still has a 30% approval rating, I'd bet those 30% believe everything the guy says....

Yeah, but 70% don't. I'll take those odds any election year. ;)

If McCain/Romney are stupid enough to hitch their star to George Bush, then they deserve the landslide loss they will encounter.

Your post made me laugh because I have two 10 year olds that can't tell a good lie to save their life, but it doesn't keep them from trying.:rotfl2:

As for Clemens story I just don't get why he keeps up this facade. At least Mark McGwire had sense enough to "take the Fifth". Is there anyone who actually believes Clemens? I also don't get why his wife would get steroid shots in the butt either. What's up with that? Where's the benefit for her? Bizarre doesn't even begin to cover this. IMO, this is a complete waste of time for our elected offcials to spending their time on.

Wow, me too. She's really getting nervous about Obama-she posts at least one thread on him every day!

This is a GOOD thing! :thumbsup2

Nice to know They are on top of the #1 situation facing the country...aint it!:rolleyes1

I hate to go back to a controversial topic (the election) ;)

But does this bother anyone? They appear to be "enticing" the super delegates to vote for them?

From Talking Points Memo:

Report: Obama Far Outpaced Hillary In Contributions To Super-Delegates
By Greg Sargent - February 14, 2008, 4:17PM

Here's some interesting context to the behind-the-scenes battle that's underway between Hillary and Obama for the support of super-delegates. It turns out that the super-delegates have received campaign contributions from both sides, though its unclear whether this money has had any impact on any decisions they've made.

The Center for Responsive Politics has a new study out which finds that the two have donated a total of more than $890,000 to those super-delegates who are elected officials in the past three years. Who's donated more? Obama has, by far.

According to the study, Obama's PAC and campaign committe have given out $694,000 to such superdelegates. Some 40% of the supers who support Obama received cash from him, the study finds.

Hillary's PAC and campaign committee, meanwhile, have donated only $195,000 to supers, less than a third of what Obama has, and only 12% of supers supporting her have received her money.

So, Obama's financial apparatus appears to have given out far more cash to the supers than Hillary's has -- though again, it's not possible to assert at all conclusively that there's a direct link between donations and the decisions by the SDs.

Late Update: I should have made it clear that these numbers refer to donations in the 2006 and 2008 cycles, so many of these could have been ordinary contributions to fellow Democrats before either was running for President. I've revised the above accordingly.
