Talk at the school this morning was that they got the guy... I haven't heard the news report myself yet, but several parents reported hearing it on the radio. This is all based on what one parent told me she heard on the radio, but apparantly they reported the guy was from an environmentalist group! What?!?! That's insane! I looked for a link to a story online, but so far haven't found anything.

The procession out to the memorial service was incredible. It went on for nearly an hour. I don't know the count yet, but there, but I'm sure there were in excess of 500 cars in the procession. There were departments represented from countless California cities as well as Nevada, Oregon and Washington as well as all federal departments. Beth, our school is a private Christian school, so we don't follow the same rules and regs. as other schools. :) I held up pretty well until I had to drive under the two extension ladders that flanked the highway, with the enormous American flag hanging at the center. :(

Kim,
Again, I'm sorry. That must have been so hard to do.:(

Environmentalist group? What are they protesting? That the DARE officer was trying to keep kids off of drugs?
Pam

Marilyn,

I promised DH that with company coming over for Turkey Day, that I would take the extra time to scrub the kitchen floor with a toothbrush tonite. Unfortunately, I am afraid it will take hours, and hours and hours and hours and hours.

Awwwww...... sweetie............ now I feel bad!:(

Tell you what - cleaning the kitchen floor with a toothbrush is one of my very favorite things in the world to do! So....... I'm warming up the car and a kettle of my stew and I'll be right over to help you with the floor! With two of us working, it will be done in no time at all and we'll have extra time to practice our go-go routine! Did I mention that we are performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Pam

Nancy, that sweetheart trifle sounds wonderful!

Pam, Glad to see you back with us! We missed you! :)

I always knew Kim was "onery". Frist kinky, now this. Oh, wait, she was calling everyone *else* that. I'm in a beach house full of "onery" women. Since I won't be here for a while, let me reiterate how much I like being the only guy here.
I am NOT "ornery"!! :o I've never been "ornery" ...... ever .
icon15.gif

oh Pam, you are sooooo sweet to offer to help and bring your stew. But, I just couldn't let you do that. That would just be asking way too much of a friend to help scrub the floor with a toothbrush. Why don't you just stay put and relax for the evening? And it's snowing here in Chicago. I really don't want you driving in bad weather. (Marilyn runs upstairs and slams the doors shut on the guest rooms) And I am sooo sorry, but all of the guest rooms are being painted, so if the weather stays bad, I wouldn't be able to put you up for the night.

Macey's Parade??!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: We'll be on national TV! "And here they are struttin' their stuff down the street in their lime green boots, the YaYa-GoGo's". :teeth: :earseek:

Kim

Again, so sorry. What a wonderful tribute to him.

(and don't worry about sharing bad or sad news with us from now on. That's what we are here for....to share things that make us happy and be there for each other when things make us sad).

Marilyn,
But we're not just friends - we're YaYas!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
I am halfway there, already! Ahead of the snow! And I can sleep on the floor, I have a sleeping bag with me. (A Spongebob Squarepants one!)

IF you don't let me come and you DON'T eat my stew, you will NOT be marching in the Macy's Parade.

I mean it.

I really, really mean it!
Pam

(I had even lined us up a couple of hot dates with the balloon handlers......)

Oh boy, Oh boy!!! I get to see Ya Yas in the parade!! I can't wait to watch!!!!!

Hi all. Just checking in...

Jay, Have a great trip, be safe...

Pam, thanks for noticing I wasn't feeling well. Since no one else did!

Marilyn, can wait to see you and Pam on tv. What time do you come on?

Kim...((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))):(

Well... I am off to make meatloaf for dinner. I shall return later.......:)

Michele

I am sorry I didn't notice you were sick.
Disappointed_anim.gif
Feel better soon.

(Marilyn walks around grumbling....great, not only do I have to eat her tick causing stew, I have to look at a Sponge Bob Square Pants sleeping bag on my floor. All this so I can have a date with a balloon handler!)

Oh Pam, I am so excited you are on your way. Just can't wait till you get here. (Mumble, mumble, now I'll HAVE to wash the floor with a toothbrush! Marilyn starts to walk away and then falls flat on her face as she tries to kick herself in the ****)

Oh, Miss Betttthhh. Grab a pair of go-go boots and get your booty in gear girl. Who said you were going to sit and watch! (Marilyn throws a pair at Beth and Michele) That's right Missy Michele, you too!

Pam, did you line up enough balloon handlers?

Pam, we did have to buy shoes but they were only $35. I have a black velvet purse so she is using it.

I am only stopping by and heading out to do some last minute grocery shopping for the trip. I will try to stop by again tonight

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc ...lilboo a GO-GO!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Here's my ketchup session:
Don't pick on Jennifer! wait 'til I get back and can join in! (jk ;) Jennifer-love ya!!)

Warning-Survivor reference: I want a new game show on the Food Network-pitting Nancy and Survivor Helen to a recipe-off, is there no end to her recipe savvy??? "Name the top 6 recipes that use, dark chocolate, heavy cream and chipotle peppers-go!"

See ya at the new place Jay, if not sooner!

Beth I am a SWEET POTATO FIEND!!! I can't understand why people want the hwite stuff when they can have that rich, orange, aaaaahh! But then "mashy" potatoes (like Pam's "gibbles") "drownded and smooshied" in butter!!! Waahooo-...It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!:p

Ooh Kim-an environmentalist, more like bio-terrorist.:( IS it true? The connection is probably the amount of South American land being cleared to grow drug crops primarily to cater to U.S demands. The environmentalists are probably protesting the growing belief that policeing drug traffic-that is, drug's current illegal status-is indirectly destroying so much of the environment. Whatever your belief, if this is true, and I hope to GOd it isn't-what an incredibly stupid and senseless way to get your point across.:(

Oy-To Be Continued!

Oh I forgot-CAROL!!! Yes Gerard Depardieu! One of the Frenchy boys I posted was actually his son-ummm, Guillaume? or Gerome? Anyway-an unforgettable face-have you seen Tous Les Matins du Monde-that's where I first laid eyes on him (AND there is a tushy scene:eek: )

I forgot where I left off-Elaine! I always get the million things on my mind around Thanksgiving too-my mother has recently turned over dinner planning to me and she likes to be a "sous" chef. I still don't have game plan-it's like Iron Chef the day of. I'm no cook, but actually she's WORSE! (I used to have nightmares where she's happily stuffing the turkey with the most bizarre things.)

Whaa-Pam's going to be in the Parade??? Briar ROse has inspired me to possibly, actually GO to the Parade this year. If you've ever been, you'll know that spectating is a full contact sport. I may change my mind. If I go, I'm going to wave a poster for Marvelous Marilyn and Peepin' Pam!.:) Wait, Pam's stews CAUSES ticks or once HAD ticks???

Betty-yes! If DD doesn't mind I would love to see photos on the night of...isn't it romantic? WIll this be their first real date outside of walking down the halls together?;)

Aack, Michele I missed your being ill too :(. If you're not all better, I hope you do get well before Turkey Day.

There are no vegetarians among the YaYas are there?

Jennifer-I love the pic in the sig too! Awww, Jodie that's just the kind of picture I imagined you'd get-really cute and sweet and smiley.:):) I don't care what Bonnie says-I'm sure you are just as sweet as pie.:p:p:p

Now ABOUT MOI:smooth:...:jester:-There's a storm in the Northeast that will be hovering right above the entirety of my drive route starting tomorrow morning. SO instead of leaving then, am doing it now, in a few hours. I just don't have that much snow-driving experience. And that's it for me-kinda boring.

Have we decided on a new YaYa house. I think I must put together a powerful lobby coalition for the advancement of the acquisition of a Parisian flat as our next domicile-ahh, the museums, the cuisine, the unshaven men...;)

Too bad I'm the only one in the house who likes sweet potates. Growing up, we always had Waldorf salad with Thanksgiving dinner. Did or do any of you do that? I can't get my dh to eat it at all and I really miss it! And, Nancy, that Sweetheat Trifle looks decadent!! Doesn't the substitution of chocolate chips make it just tooooooo chocolate? What do you think of using Heath Bars instead of Crunch? Or maybe Butterfinger, if you use the peanut butter chips!
Okay recipe sent to Marilyn.

:teeth: Too chocolate? I don't think so!!

But I do think that there are a lot of combinations that will work.
You can vary the chips, the candy bar, the pudding flavor and even the cake flavor.

And I am the only one that eats the sweet potatoes too. I just make a small amount and eat it for 2 days or so and then toss it, but if this years works, I may try freezing it and try it again after we get back from the trip.

I love Waldorf salad. I just make a little of that at a time too. DH isn't too crazy about it but he will eat a little. Kids won't eat it

All the YaYas are go-go, going to the Macy's Parade!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc We are a team - remember, "There is no I in team!"

Marilyn,
You're kidding, right? Of course, I lined up enough balloon handlers! Do you know how many guys it takes to get just one of those babies down the street?? (Ok, so I don't really know the EXACT amount, but it's a lot!!) I'm almost to your house! Leave the porch light on. Oh - and I brought you a Power Puff sleeping bag, so we can have a slumber party and pillow fight, tonight!:Pinkbounc

I love sweet potatoes - and yes, I'm the only one that likes them a my house - but my entire family (my Mom, Dad, and two brothers love them, too!)

lilboo,
Thereotically, the tick would be on the meat, but the temperature would kill it. - But then again, once you skin the animal, they would most likely be embedded in the fur. Anyways, it never really happened, I just made that up to freak out Marilyn.:p

Betty,
I shudder to think what you'll spend when Allison goes to the prom!
DD has tons of size 3/4 and a couple of size 5/6 gowns, if you ever need to borrow some!

Pam

*Kim opens the door of her YaYa hideaway and carefully peeks out into the hallway, making sure to look up for those flying pigs. Seeing none of the little porkers anywhere nearby, she dashes out the door and makes a break for the kitchen*

Four Cheese Vegetable Lasagna

1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped spinach, thawed
Vegetable cooking spray
2 tsp. vegetable oil
2 c. chopped fresh broccoli
1 1/2 c. thinly sliced carrot
1 c. sliced green onions
1/2 c. chopped red bell pepper
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
3 c. 1% milk
1/2 c. grated fresh Parmesan cheese, divided
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 pepper
1 1/2 c. lowfat 1% cottage cheese
1 c. (4 oz) shredded part skim mozzarella
1/2 c. (2 oz) shredded Swiss cheese
12 cooked lasagna noodles

Press spinach between paper towels until barely moist and set aside. Coat a dutch oven with cooking spray; add oil, and place over med. heat until hot. Add broccoli and next 4 ingredients; saute 7 min. Set aside.

Place flour in a medium saucepan. Gradually add milk, stirring with a wire whisk until blended. Bring to a boil over med. heat, and cook 5 min. or until thickened, stirring constantly. Add 1/4 parmesan cheese, salt and pepper; cook an additional min, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in spinach. Reserve 1/2 cup and set aside.

Combine cottage cheese, mozzarella, and Swiss cheese; Stir well. Spread 1/2 c. spinach mixture in bottom of a 13x9x2 inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Arrange 4 lasagna noodles over spinach mixture; top with half of cottage cheese mixture, half of vegetable mixture, and half of spinach mixture. Repeat layers, ending with noodles. Spread reserved 1/2 cup spinach mixture over noodles and sprinkle with remaining 1/4 c. parmesan cheese. Cover and bake at 375 for 35 min. Let stand 5 min.

:teeth:

okay...back from a rather pitiful shopping day :(

Kim.....{{{hugs}}}
Glad you were there for your son. How did he handle it?

Michele....sorry. Hope you're feeling better.
I've been kind of....skimming :( Too busy the last few days.

Jeannie....drive carefully.

And Howdy everyone!!

As long as I don't have to cook it, I can do a recipe match anyday :)

Good Evening!!! PArade??? I love a parade!!!!

So...the girls decided to take their shower together....they are up there making up "new and improved" phrases to the ABC song... :p I'm catching something about Harry Potter and Emily giggling hystarically!!! Ok, got the last of my yarn...off to make a couple more dis con hats......

Kim...how you doing tonight? Sounds like an exhausting day. It will be of only a little comfort to the wife and child, but to have that maniac caught must be a relief.

oooo...before I go..thanks Kim!!! Looks like friday's dinner is planned!!!!

See ya'll in a bit!

Michele, I have to apologize... I've been doing a lot of skimming the last few days too. :( I hate doing that... I mean I REALLY hate doing that, it's pet peeve of mine actually, but I've had a hard time getting up here as often as I usually do. This whole holiday thing is putting a real cramp in my Dis'ing. :p Clean this room, Christmas shop for that, buy a dead bird... blah blah blah. :) Actually, I did catch your post last night about not feeling well, and started to say something to you, then got totally sidetracked.

Jennifer and Nancy, today was definitely an emotional day. *I've had a lot of those lately. :( * When we went back into town to pick up Cam from school, the service was just letting out. It made me tear up all over again to see those hundreds upon hundreds of patrol cars pouring all over the town. Every time I think about it, the darn tears start up all over again. :(
