The last day for Halloween treats + cool story

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I was able to make rope drop at the park this morning. I grabbed a few pics of treats that we won’t see again for nearly another year.

Briefly, I rope-dropped HM because I haven’t been on it since the holiday changeover. But when I got there, it was closed :-(. However, I chatted with the CM at the gate and she was really cool and gave me a front-of-the-line pass for later use :-).

I went directly to Rise and although the line was long, it moved virtually the entire time. Shortly after I emerged from the ride, a Rise CM approached and asked if I was dressed as Willy Wonka (her bet) or the Mad Hatter (another CM’s bet). She won (I was WW) and I gave her some chocolate as her prize. Moments later, she walked me through the LL entrance. In short, I got to ride Rise twice within about 20 mins. When I left, I thanked the CMs again and they offered me yet another LL ride. But I’d had enough.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been the recipient of so much pixie dust in one day. Perhaps being kind to others paid off once again :-).

Yes, it’s all that good karma coming back around! You look fab as always, love the treat pics and so glad you had a great day…WITHOUT BUZZ???!? Scoring must still be wonky…

What a great day! Thanks for sharing the pics! I didn't realize so many people wore costumes to Disneyland on Halloween. (I've never been on Halloween)

In fact, a CM I spoke with on Sunday said that the engineers have looked into the problem and it may require the entire replacement of a part that they'll have to order. If that's the case, my guess is that scoring will be broken for a few weeks. I did about 3-4 rounds yesterday. I scored 2,060,000 on one of them (according to the count in my head). Otherwise my scores were unremarkable.

Same. I've been to one party at Disneyland and a couple at DCA. But maybe they are a little relaxed on Halloween day as long as people aren't Disney characters (like a really good princess)
I know that on Lolita Day(s), some guests have been hesitant to allow pics because they were told that they weren't allowed to pose with guests, mainly for reasons like the one above. I did see three families dressed as several characters from Peter Pan on Halloween but I doubt that anyone would mistake a mother and two or three children for actual DL CMs.

Please tell me this is not a Nabokov reference...

I hesitate to even speculate on what a 'Lolita Day' might look like.

How was the Haunted Hayride and where does it take place?

This is actually referring to the Japanese fashion style, not the rather unsavory context that some are thinking. It's like the combination of fancy, Victorian style dresses with the cute, "kawaii" style.

The Wikipedia entry for kawaii notes, "It can refer to items, humans, and non-humans that are charming, vulnerable, shy, and childlike." So maybe there is a connection way back somewhere...

It takes place in Griffith Park, about a mile from the carousel at which Walt sat when the idea for DL occurred to him. It used to be really good. It was started in 2009 by a woman whom, I believe, created it out of the love of Halloween. After an investment on Shark Tank, it was sold to a haunted attraction company… and the quality feel over a cliff. The number of actors (and overall creativity) was cut in half and the price increased. Now I just go and hang out in the carnival-like area of the various attractions but don’t ride them. They’re OK but definitely not worth what they charge. In fact, the first Halloween after the acquisition, I was with two friends and we were disappointed with the many changes. We spoke with the event manager and he let us ride the other three attractions for free. Even after experiencing all four of them, it still wasn’t worth the price we paid for the hayride alone. Oh well. As I say, it’s fun to hang out in the area, see other Halloween fans and appreciate the guest’s costumes. But it’s a bit like going to Downtown Disney but declining to pay for DL or DCA.
