The lanyards are cheap.... but why?

I have seen mention of lanyards with the plastic holders. I found the Walmart version yesterday. It is a whopping $0.97. It has a Ziploc type top to seal it.

I guess I really don't understand the need for it. I realize you can stick your KTTW card in it. But if you have pockets, you can use them, and not have something hanging around your neck! So what am I missing?

Please give me a clue.... time is starting to run short!

Kids or teens in the age group that would forget their head if it wasn't attached?!?! LOL!
Really, they were great for our 2 kids.... they didn't accidentally put them down someplace and had them with them when they were in dresses for dinner (no pockets!) and wanted to run back off with their friends in a different direction.

They're also great if you buy one of the photo packages - they card they give you for that is paper & doesn't take too well to the hot tub!

We all wore shorts w/pockets and kept our cards in the back pocket. DH wouldn't be caught dead w/anything hanging around his neck, I didn't want to be responsible for carrying his or everybody's (I do that with my suitcase of a purse ), and I can just feature my daughter taking it off because it was "in her way". So we just used our back pockets

All four of our kids used them. The yonger 2 used theirs when they checked in & out of the kids club. We blocked the cards so they couldn't charge anything with them. I think the 2 older teens needed theirs when they joined in the teen group outings off the ship. They loved taking turns using the card to get into the room. The first time we took a paper hole punch and punched a hole into the end of card and just hooked them onto a lanyard. (don't punch the magnetic strip) For our next cruise we have bought the ziploc kind from walmart. My DH just puts his and mine in his wallet cause we don't like anything around our necks.

My DH and DS both put their cards in their wallets, but on the ship or on an excursion, I just didn't feel like carrying a purse. I put my DD's card, my card and ID, a little cash if I thought I would need it, and if we were going ashore, a credit card to shop with into the plastic holder. On the ship, my DD's carried their own cards on the lanyard. Their pockets on their shorts were not deep enough to guarantee not losing them, the DCL lanyard was a great souvenier, and they were always handy to sign into the clubs.

My husband and I read this board before we left and decided to buy lanyards. We went to Walmart and found some that clip on to your pants. That was really nice. When it was formal night and I had a dress on my husband would wear his and I wouldn't have to worry about bringing mine.

It's nice to when you get off at port because you have to have your key to the world AND your driver's licence. I ended up having other things stuffed in there too like one credit card for when we got off at port and tickets for the excursions and things like that.

The boys had the kind that went around their neck. They took them off to swim but never lost the lanyard but somehow always managed to lose KTTW...so they would be walkin around with an empty lanyard around there neck...go figure???!!??

My whole family used the laynards while cruising..both kids used them..made it very easy to keep track of their cards..I would never let them put them in a pants pocket..too easy for them to loose...hubby and I also used them..since we wore bathing suits and cover-ups most of the day, it was very convenient to throw it around your neck...wore them also with shorts, but I will admit on formal night and at dinners, hubby kept them in his pocket....it was not a big deal for us to have them around our neck...

Where do you find them in Walmart? Do they have them in WDW..I assume at the shops? I have one but it does not have the ziploc part I am hearing about.

You will find them at Walmart in the jewelery department. They are 97 cents and worth every penny.

Yes, they had the lanyards for sale on our cruise and I believe they were $6/each. You can certainly get them much cheaper before you cruise.

A note of interest

If you keep a credit card in your lanyard with your KTTW card, beware, the magnetic strip in your credit card can disable your KTTW card. DW's KTTW card stopped working and would not let her in the room (I was on an excursion). She had to get a new KTTW card made. CM said the credit card was the culprit. Make sure the magnetic strips for the credit card and the KTTW card are turned so they do not face each other.
