My husband wants to get The Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream, but I keep telling him it is too big for a family of three. He does point out, though, that if we each got an ice cream specialty dish it would cost less to get The Kitchen Sink. Any thoughts?

Bring your camera!! Get the Kitchen Sink!!! I have a picture of both my DS then5 and a child at the next table about 3 and let me tell you the picture alone is worth the $$. PS get water or something to drink to go with the ice cream.

B&C's regular sundaes are so big that it took our family of four to eat just one No Way Jose. That should tell you something about just how big the Kitchen Sink is if four people could barely finish a regular sundae!

When I read posts about the KS, it seems like it's usually a party of 5 or more.
Of course you are not required by law to actually finish all of it, but it would be fun trying. :earsboy:

Take your camera! Kitchen sink is huge! Our family of 4 couldn't finish it. There was a LOT of stuff in there! :rotfl: I know one of the things the waitress said as she was walking to our table with it was.... it had a whole can of whip cream in it! There was NO WAY we could finish it but it was yummy trying!! ;)

We were there in June and a family of three sitting near us got it. They didn't eat the whole thing. I'd get it if your DH wants it. Just remember you don't have to get all of the flavors of ice cream or toppings. You can substitute. Your DH is correct regarding cost. It is well worth the money. Enjoy!! Annmarie

I agree completely! I was one of those who didn't want to "bother", since there are only two of us. Now having done it (and I have a lovely picture right here next to the computer to remind me), I'm so glad we did! No, we didn't make too big a dent in it, but 2 of us had all the ice cream we could eat and a memorable experience to boot-all for $22! And we met so many nice people-they blink the lights and make a big anouncement when they serve you-lots of people kept peeking over to see how much we ate! One nice man, as he went by our table leaving, said "You guys are my heroes! I want to get one of those too!" Lots of people have never seen the Kitchen Sink before and it's just so much fun! We can't wait to have another one in 17 days.

Why not hook up with another small family or couple to share it? I bet you could hold up a sign or ask people directly if they would be willing to share the sink with you. I hear they give you separate dishes so you don't have to eat out of the main sink. That would be so much fun! :Pinkbounc Then you have someone there who can take tons of photos of your whole family while you enjoy the sink. :grouphug:

Double dipping with strangers is not something I would want to do, but if they do separate dishes, it is a thought......but I would go for it if your husband wants to try it and do the best you can.. It is a lot of ice cream and sauces and whipped cream.. EEK!!!!!!!!

Aaawww, shucks! Every party has a pooper! Depends on how you are, I guess. I like fun, spontaneous stuff with a little adventure. Yes, it is like a box of chocolates: You never know what you will get. But that's the fun of it!!! :) Being part of a big family, it just seems natural to me...

Can you/should you make a PS for this place and request the KS or can you just walk in and request it?

I heard somewhere that some people took ziploc bags, and saved all of the cookies and candy from it for snacks later.

They do give you small bowls and spoons so if you want to separate it among friends you don't have to double dip.

The way I look at the KS is like the Mastercard commercial:

No Way Jose - $6

Kitchen Sink - $22

Look on kids' face when they see it - priceless!

Heck...we're a family of 3 and come December we are getting a kitchen sink...just for the heck of it...and given that fact that one of us is a teenage boy I'm thinking we just might have a chance especially given that he could eat the whole can of whipped topping at home if Mom would let him...and oh, yeah! The camera will be ready and I'm taking several shots throughout the entire ice cream fest!

We've not had the opportunity to be seated inside, and they won't do it for take-out, but we have ordered Ghirardelli's equivlant, the Earthquake. My husband always grumbles that it is too much and refuses to have any, but it really thrills the kids to get something so large. You are going to Disney to create memories, and I think that this is another way to create one.

Beaches and Cream does not take ADR's, you have to just walk in. Try going at an off time if you're just going for ice cream (like 2:30-3:00)...they only have about 10 tables and it's quite popular, but sooooo worth it. We had 3 of us make an attempt at the kitchen sink and we hardly put a dent in it, but we sure had fun trying :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

It is a big deal when they bring one out. A great experience. And if you can save a little $, too...why not?

Yes, they bring little bowls out so everyone can eat his own portion. I don't know if they'd bring extra bowls for the people sitting at other tables or not...but they might -- the service there is so great!

Unless something has recently changed, you cannot get an ADR for Beaches & Cream...go at an off-time if you can. The place is small, but popular.

My DS17, his buddy, and I did a decent job on the kitchen sink, just the 3 of us! Didn't quite finish, but very close. We also didn't get a meal - just the sink!

We had one, there were 7 of us and we didn't finish it - nearly got there, but it had all melted before we got to the final few spoonfuls!
