FEMA sets up HQ in Orlando

WDSU has already moved its Television Studio to Orlando, now FEMA is following suit setting up its base of operations there. This means getting an extended stay apartment or even a hotel room for your Disney World vacation is going to be a bit more difficult now. I also expect to see refugees moving into the area looking for work, lodging, and aid.

Cory Sandler, in his Econoguide for WDW, wrote something like,

... paying top dollar for a room 20 minutes from the park in bumper to bumper traffic,

Unfortunately I got caught, but it was my fault for not making a room ressie earlier. It was between the 2004 hurricanes, and I did not realize that power company crews and other relief workers had booked up most of the rooms. Did manage to get a room at the Howard Johnson west of Main Gate.

Unfortunately I got caught a second time, on New Years Eve. It was again my fault since if I had tried to reserve a room (off site) a few weeks earlier I would have succeeeded. Ended up staying north of Universal Studios for a n ight.
