First Look Inside ‘The Cake Bake Shop’ Restaurant at Disney’s BoardWalk







Stepping off from the main room, we can see some perimeter seating areas that will be open air when the weather cools down and the windows can be opened. One of the rooms that we didn’t get photos of yet was a private dining room just off of the main dining area.



Another area is the bar, which will eventually be open to walk-ups.




The final room is a seating area just off of the bar, which can be used as more of a lounge space.

Ok , 22 bucks for a slice of cake is too much. But DVC needs to hire the designer , thinking the next VGF / RR refurb could use them.

It definitely looks like it will get a lot of use for private parties/events. Even in her interview with DFB, the owner mentions that the restaurant is designed so it can easily be sectioned off.

I can see a lot of bachelorette and princess parties for rich people here in the future. Possibly even full restaurant rentals for weddings.

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs has unveiled its newest menu item: the Giant Mozzarella Stick! It’s only available for a limited time, though Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs has said that they don’t have an end date set at this time.

I'm sitting here watching a video of the Cake Bake Shop by Paging Mr. Morrow. I still think with how fancy it is it would have fit in better at the GF but it is beautiful and the food looks really good. Seems they all love the food. Probably won't be able to eat there on our trip since we will have the dining plan and they don't take it at this point. I would consider it though if they did.

IMO replacing ESPN with this is one of the worst Disney ideas in recent memory.

It was great to catch a game, get some good pub food etc.

I guess, we went there a few times but if it were as popular as some make it seem now, it would still be open. That said, I have 0 interest in the Bake Shop and will likely never set foot in it. Not really a sweets guy, especially at those prices.

I understand that and you're right, I'm probably looking at it from my own personal point of view that my wife and daughters love their nap time and it was nice to go there during their naps for me. LOL

I'm with you, personally I love pub/"comfort" food that I can grab quickly with minimal fuss. Apparently not enough agree, the trend seems to be every restaurant has to be some kind of "destination".

Seems like there would be enough support for a few "normal" restaurants but they didn't ask me

I'm going to assume you're a Tide fan, I am an OU fan (yes, this year sucks). Anyway, to be able to run over and catch a CFB game or even an F1 race or NFL game during "nap time" was pretty dang awesome.

Now.....not really so much. I would suspect there are a lot that find themselves in that same position. Perhaps, they know going in they wont get to watch those games/events during the WDW trip, but I loved being able to do both.

Obviously, WDW is not catering to us guys needing a little testosterone filed environments while at the parks

***not to say those of the female variety can't also enjoy a sports pub/bar.

I watched Tim Tracker try out several desserts from Cake Bake. Arguably the $22 slice of cake can feed 3-6 depending on if it was intended to be a snack. One of the cakes was 3 layers and one was 6! All said the cake was delicious and not overly sweet. So not incredibly overpriced in this situation.

We rarely get dessert, and when we do, we split it. So a $22-23 slice of cake should be just fine for our next visit, when we'll have DD and DSiL to help eat it!

Also , the 99 cent thing on the menu screams low end - what luxury place charges 6.99 instead of 7 ?

The Wildwood Boardwalk just got a Starbucks and relatively speaking that’s considered high end.

RUMOR: Jellyrolls Piano Bar Set to Close at Disney’s BoardWalk​

The popular piano bar Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk is reportedly closing in 2025.



Sources indicate that Jellyrolls will close on or around January 1, 2025, to make way for a new, Disney-operated Jazz club as part of the larger ongoing overhaul of the BoardWalk area.

Recent years have seen many changes, including updating the BoardWalk Inn lobby, the opening of the BoardWalk Deli, BoardWalk Ice Cream, and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. Big River Grille and Brewing Works closed earlier in 2024.

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers was supposed to open in 2023, but was delayed until this year. The closure of Jellyrolls was supposedly always scheduled for after the Cake Bake Shop finally opened, which it has.

Jellyrolls is currently in its 29th year of operation (since the BoardWalk first opened) and features dueling pianists. Admission is only for guests aged 21+, and there is a cover charge. It is one of the last original venues in the area as Spoodles, ESPN Club, and Seashore Sweets have all been shuttered and replaced over the years.


Of course, all of the information above is purely speculative at this time and nothing has been confirmed at this time by Disney, nor by the third-party company that currently operates the establishment.

I mean I love JellyRolls but the cover charge has always been an outlandish amount. While some of the pricey bars in NYC with live entertainment cost similar, the biggest difference is that the cover charge got you 1-2 drink tickets.

The entertainment there is honestly fantastic, I feel it would be a loss for the Boardwalk.

This was one of the places I was most looking forward to checking out on my March upcoming trip…. my first trip as a BW owner…. it’s one of the reasons I decided to buy BW….I love dueling piano bars…. everyone is singing together…. why not close the Dance Hall for a jazz bar….

No Big Thunder, No Test Track, MK and Dino land under major construction…. and now no Jelly Roles….

My issue is jazz bars don’t tend to fill up in non jazz towns. In addition they tend to have almost no profit margins.

I would franchise 54 below and have disney / broadway singers with some audience involvement. Other than that it would make a good QS location since it can pull S/D guests

I also agree that ADC is empty more than it is worth - possibly add some Jazz nights when it is not booked by conventions

Not surprising. I would imagine that, 29 years ago, Disney saw alcohol establishments as being too risky for its brand. Times have obviously changed for Disney as it pertains to alcohol and they have probably been green with envy the past decade over how much revenue was being given up to a third party.

As to a jazz bar concept, it seems like Abracadabra Bar would have been a better fit for that. I would have gone with more of a scaled down and thematically appropriate version of Hoop De Doo. Or some form of a prohibition-era speakeasy.
