The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

Much depends on what they consider a 'Jazz' bar. There's JAZZ, and then there's jazz. If it's more original New Orleans based jazz and its various offshoots, it can meld blues, big band, dixieland, ragtime, even some early rock and swing. No reason that couldn't do well with good bar service and maybe some lite bites too. If they are intending it to be more of a bebop, cool, and fusion jazz spot, that's a very eclectic and limited audience and definitely more regional, so I don't think it would do very well in that spot.

Been staying at BWV since 2012...never been to Jellyrolls, but I guess we thought we might one day. For the first time ever, DH went into the Dance Hall on our last trip a few weeks ago. We dont' even think about going to places like that We do hope to be traveling more in the coming years without kids, so we'll see. Hopefully they'll replace with something fun. not jazz though, unless it is more like big band/ragtime.

Booked 500+ times today yikes. Looked for my week (early December) out of curiosity and no dice.

Grain of salt though--OpenTable doesn't have a penalty for cancelling so I'm sure there are over-planners out there with multiples.

I am so happy to hear your thoughts on BWV we are staying for the first time this summer. Visited last year when we stopped by Jellyrolls cannot believe I'll be staying there!!

Just saw this posted on the DVC site:

Beginning October 28, the Inn Leisure Pool will be closed for refurbishment, with an expected reopening in late December. Guests may see and hear construction during daytime hours. During this time, guests can continue to enjoy both the Luna Park Pool and the Villas Leisure Pool.

I'm disappointed that for $95 it doesn't at least include one glass of champagne. I'd be more likely to book it if it did.

We have lovely teahouses around here. Going rate for a similar service is $65 (no champagne). Given that it's Disney and the fact that the rest of them menu is pricey, $95 seems to fit with the rest of the menu.

Fortunately for my wallet, I expect to be napping during tea time! But I might be having breakfast at the CBS on checkout day. Maybe. We’ll see.

THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE IS UP AT BOARDWALK!

View attachment 912305

I’ll update when a blog posts pictures. This was found on FB.
Pulled up my pic of this from last year. Identical except for a missing Xmas tree in the middle, and they switched places with the two that are remaining.

I love that they upscaled/upgraded Boardwalk!!! I have only been an owner for a few years and have never gone into a BW restaurant because I thought it was plain ole American fare. With Epcot around the corner, itʻs smart to make a special fancy place where people who can afford BW (albeit DVC) or even draw surrounding hotel traffic to this place. Deep down, there is a little fancy in all of us, even if we have to share a slice of cake.

I initially thought this place would die as the hype predicted but it is a special place that cater primarily to women, think old money/new money grandmas with their large spendy women friends. Iʻm not sure if those are the ones who are vlogging and ʻinfluencingʻ or even on forums. Disney, in general, attracts this clientele - bringing their grandkids in tow- and Riviera/Yacht Club and even Hilton/Swan peeps will be looking to visit, guaranteed! I feel DVC members are in their ʻexplorationʻ of properties phase and this will add value, especially if they keep the prices of some of the menu items down.

Meanwhile, I am thrilled, I secured dinner reservations for our upcoming stay!!!!!! I will report back.

At the Boardwalk now in a 2BR BW view villa. We're on the second floor and the noise from the "entertainment" is ungodly loud from 8 PM - 10 PM every night that we have been here. There were clog dancers right under our balcony last night putting up a racket. Further down towards Flying Fish, there were jugglers with large speakers booming music and stirring up the crowd. It was impossible to watch television or go to sleep or even enjoy drinks and conversation on our balconies. We have 2 small children that have early bedtimes and it has been a struggle to say the least. It's too late for us but let this serve as a warning for anyone else who will be staying here.

RUMOR: Jellyrolls Piano Bar Set to Close at Disney’s BoardWalk

The popular piano bar Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk is reportedly closing in 2025.

The exterior of a building glows at night with the lit JELLYROLLS sign and a red canopy, hinting at its lively character. Other neon signs flicker in the background, suggesting hints of stories like JellyRolls' recent PPP loan whispers circulating in the air.' recent PPP loan whispers circulating in the air.

Sources indicate that Jellyrolls will close on or around January 1, 2025, to make way for a new, Disney-operated Jazz club as part of the larger ongoing overhaul of the BoardWalk area.

Recent years have seen many changes, including updating the BoardWalk Inn lobby, the opening of the BoardWalk Deli, BoardWalk Ice Cream, and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. Big River Grille and Brewing Works closed earlier in 2024.

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers was supposed to open in 2023, but was delayed until this year. The closure of Jellyrolls was supposedly always scheduled for after the Cake Bake Shop finally opened, which it has.

Jellyrolls is currently in its 29th year of operation (since the BoardWalk first opened) and features dueling pianists. Admission is only for guests aged 21+, and there is a cover charge. It is one of the last original venues in the area as Spoodles, ESPN Club, and Seashore Sweets have all been shuttered and replaced over the years.

Of course, all of the information above is purely speculative at this time and nothing has been confirmed at this time by Disney, nor by the third-party company that currently operates the establishment.
It’s supposed to be a cool place but I’d never know because I have two young kids so I’d likely never go there. With that being said there seems to be a lot of other areas there that would better serve closing down and rehabbing. I’d love so see a bar and grill place open back up again.

So sorry that is happening to you. I just returned from a stay there and my room was at the complete opposite end of the building (next to the walking path to DHS). I didn't hear anything at all. I would request to stay at that end of the building again in a heartbeat!

Have you considered asking to switch rooms?

I thought about it but the couple we are sharing the villa with are real messy. Their stuff is everywhere (can't even use the kitchen table because it is littered with their things). Trying to pack up and move would take all day. We've been here for 5 nights and will just suck it up and bear it for the rest of our stay. But I did want to warn others that it is really loud and they may want to consider that if they want to turn in early or use their balconies during those hours. I don't recall entertainers setting up huge portable speakers in the past. The last time that we stayed here, there was a magician and a juggler. Neither of them used microphones and speakers and it was much quieter.

The Boardwalk entertainment shifts around, sometimes there are noisier setups, and sometimes not. Boardwalk view will always be noisier than any other view. The music playing on the Boardwalk is audible during the day, the entertainers at night, and late night reverie with drunk conventioners returning from the Dance Hall and Jellyrolls can be noisy all the way out to 11:30-12 midnight. The views are great, but those with early-to-bed schedules or high noise sensitivity should be cautious.

It never bothers me because I generally don't even try to fall asleep until 1am, and I'm not an early riser when on vacation.

The only slightly unexpected thing one time staying at Boardwalk was when I was on the 2nd floor and one of those big, covered balconies over the general store - I was reading out on the balcony in some boxer shorts and a tee, and suddenly the juggler performing below sounded strangely close, almost like he was ON my balcony. I stood up to see what was happening, and he was right there, almost face to face - he was standing on a stack of chairs performing - he couldn't see into the balcony or room, so he wasn't THAT high, but when I went to look over, I could have shaken his hand.

Just checked out of BWV Boardwalk view and I noticed the noise last night. I was sitting out on the balcony watching the fireworks and thought wow it’s loud.

Regarding the Cake Bake Shop, I was surprised how busy they were when I walked by Friday night. There was a line to get into the takeout section and it was full inside. DVC Fan gave it a good review.

This is a first for me: storm has knocked out the satellite TV! We were trying to take a break between parks so this is a bummer 🤣1000013316.jpg

Have you thought about asking the front desk for a fan that may mask the noise?
