The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

I can relate to that!:thumbsup2 Today was a whopping 56 degrees out, so we drove with the top down to the Dollar Tree. By the time we left it was 46 degrees, but no rain so we drove home with the top down! We take what we can get.:lmao:

It was warm today here! Had to get shorts out, too hot!
Now if it could only stay that way.

Hey Alex!

awwww, I love that age! Cute lil buttons!

And then they grow up and demand things like computer games. :rolleyes1

I tried to find them at Albertson's last year, but all I found were the type where you need to buy wine too.
Didn't go to Von's as much, maybe they had them? .. I don't know where people find them, I just trade for them when expired. Typically they are a "hot" value and traders want 20¢ to 25¢ per dollar :scared: Fine if you can double coupons, not here!

I can get them for 5- 10¢ per dollar when expired. ;) And the paypal money is from doing surveys.. so it's all free for me (except for my time).

I used to shop at all kinds of discount stores, but sort of got out of the habit the last few years. Now with DH laid off I've started shopping for bargains a little more than I used to. I think I kind of got spoiled with both of us working. We never really had a budget, just bought what we wanted when we wanted. We've always tried to live below our means and if we couldn't pay cash, then we just didn't buy it. So we haven't really had a difficult time with only me working, but just have to be a little more careful and realize where our money is going. Or maybe I'm just worrying because of all the horrific economic news lately.:confused3 :rotfl: Like my coupons are going to make a dent in the economy!:rotfl2:

I know! :lmao:

DS8 and DNephew11 spent time either out in the backyard tossing a ball or on the computer playing games. DNiece9 and DS4 played with the baby a bit and otherwise flitted about the house or yard with the other two.

So how was your day?

We need a photo!!

::yes::

I was amazed at how much your hair has grown back since I first met you. :goodvibes

I was going to take a picture, but DH had the camera out in his truck. My hair has grown quite a bit, but it was funky hair. Does that make sense? It wasn't like real hair, it was hard to manage, curlier than normal, and sorta fuzzy like. Hard to explain. I guess the chemo changes the shape of your hair folicles and pores. So it takes a while for them to get back to their regular shape and then finally your hair will start growing normal. I think this hair cut just finally got to that "normal" stuff.

Hello, chicaritas!

The family just left. Eight adults, 4 kids and one baby. WHEW, did we go through a lot of food!

Etienne is a little chunk, weirdly chubby, squishy like a sponge. They've just started him on solids, so he's eating the Gerber pureed foods and doing well. Apparently up to now it's been just high-fat formula, probably hence the chub.

He is a cutie, though. He was a bit shy at first, just wanted his mommy, but warmed up to us after a bit. He likes to make these little grunting noises, so we made them back at him and made him smile. Then he shook his head a lot (like "no no no no no no!") so I shook my head back at him and he laughed. Too cute! :rotfl:

He loves to pull on hair, had a thing for the phone book for some reason, and liked looking at this baby in the mirror that kept staring at him.

HiYa Alex! He sounds like such a cutie! So how do you pronounce that name again? And don't I remember you saying that your DS was going to call him something different??:rotfl:

TONS of good stuff here to make the free groceries happen :goodvibes

Awesome, thanks! Now all I have to do is find the time to work 40 hours a week, raise a family, keep the house clean, grocery shop and be a Coupon queen.:rotfl2: So glad I'm a modern woman that can "Do It All", aren't I lucky?:rotfl2:

Like my coupons are going to make a dent in the economy!:rotfl2:
Did you see in the paper yesterday that there are a lot more coupons being used these days as a result of the downturn in the economy? The article indicated that coupon manufacturers were going to make coupons that had shorter timeframes on them and other things to cut back on their losses.

I haven't really noticed anyone in the stores using them other than myself. Funny, but I go shopping almost every day at lunch. I just shop the specials in the ads and use coupons for things on sale. But I rarely ever see anyone other than myself using the coupons. When I went to QFC on Friday I had $40 worth of coupons I used.

DH and I do most of our grocery shopping at Freds, and I make a list first by reading through the Sunday ad. Then I figure out what we're short on and add those to the list.

I've noticed over the last 6 months or so that I'm finding less and less items from the ad. It's usually just a few coupons, too. Weird.

You have quite a memory. :lmao:

Yes, his name is pronounced "Eh-TYENN", and it's the French equivalent of "Steven". So DS8 insists on calling him Steven. :rotfl:

You know they do let you use their store coupons and a mfg. coupon together though.:thumbsup2 So sometimes that makes for a really good price.

Last week I used their milk, $1/half gallon ad, cantaloupe 49 cents a pound, but that was about it. Normally I go to their clearance rack in the back and dig thru that stuff. If you get a good price and have a coupon most of the time it's free. I also run up and down each aisle, because sometimes they will be trying to get rid of an item and mark it way down. Last week they had large jars of the Kroger brand PB for $1.99, but it wasn't in their ad.

But unfortunately it's a selective memory. Ask me something important and I will have probably forgotten it.

What a neat name!:thumbsup2 There are so many different girl names out there now, but not a lot of different boy names.

I am not sure why they chose it. Before I think I told him how we'd wanted to give the boys French names, since DH and I both have French in our family backgrounds. But we could agree on only one name for DS8, and could not agree one one for DS4, so he wound up with a Scottish name.

Anyway, so he asked, "Like what French boy names?" so I rattled off a bunch of the more unique ones, and Etienne was one of them, I remember. I also mentioned Guy (pronounced with an 'ee' instead if 'i' vowel sound), and Damien (which I really like but reminds me of The Omen.)

I don't know why they chose Etienne, but I think he told her that "my sister chose this name", which wasn't exactly true... :lmao:

Anyway, he said tonight that the Cambodian-American side of the family has taken to calling him Ethan, WTH??? :rotfl2:

You never know what kids are going to end up being called. Everyone calls my DS Coop!:lmao: And instead of Chelsie, we started calling DD Chels a Roo, then it was shortened to Roo, then Rudy! Of course sometimes I lengthen it and call her Rutabaga. Go figure!:lmao:

I've gotten rain checks before, but only for items I really wanted. It seems they make it a real hassle to get one, you have to have the item number and price information, etc., and the cashier had to write up a rain check for me (very slow in the checkout process); then they mailed me a computer-printed rain check once the item was back in stock, and I could bring that in with me to buy the item at the sale price.

I got stuck with Bunny, my sibs couldn't pronounce my name.. they would say "IT is crying again" gee, was I that bad??

My aunt said I looked like a little rabbit, Bunny stuck there for years and years...

My sis teases me and calls me Bun-Bun on occasion.
