grr grumble grumble rrrr rrrrr
Woke up early to babysit my DN, sis had an IEP meeting for her middle son. YAWN 7:45 am and dressed, functioning.. uck! I've been a night owl lately, staying up tunil 1 or 2 am.. this early morning stuff is not me anymore.
Anyway, little goober wouldn't eat - dumped his cheerios all over my couch and then tossed some on the floor.

He wouldn't listen to me , but Uncle (my hubby) is his best buddy.. hubby growled at him and he worked to pick up every cheerio.
He was quite entranced with Disney channel this morning, they don't have cable so it was all new shows to him. More interested in the words on the screen than what the characters were doing.. though he did laugh when he watched Pooh fall over.
I'm concerned, sis is too. He may not have all the same signs as his brother.. but there are things that make you pause and wonder-- is it just the language development? the other delays due to prematurity? or is he in the autism spectrum too?
He will be 3 in January, no real words just his own babbling language and he can identify letters and numbers. Telling us the sounds of the letters.
He points, he signs for food, but he doesn't always point/ask for help for something he wants. he doesn't try to dress/undress.. by this age my N was the stripper

Walk into a house and he took off all his clothes.
He has some sensory issues, he freaked when hubby put a bunch of madri gras beads on him, didn't like the feel of the maribou boa that I handed to him.
Haven't noticed any imaginative play.
But he can and does socialize with others, like I said Uncle E is his best buddy. Lots of interaction with him.
I see bits of the autism signs.. but then he has us puzzled by things that he can do... things that a child with autism typically can't do (wihtout lots of therapy).
But I also wonder.. maybe he is doing well in those areas because sis is trained to do therapy, he's also been getting speech and OT for months.
It's worrisome.
If he had a definitive diagnosis then sis would qualify for more help.
But who wants to label another child with that scary word "autism" ?
