The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

Took a Pamprin and my head feels much better. DS wants to earn some money so I have him doing some indoor and now that it's quit raining a couple of outdoor projects. DD & her friends FINALLY left for the mall. That only took 4 hours.:lmao:

They cleaned my wallet out of various gift cards that had any sort of balance on them.:rotfl2:

Is it considered bad parenting to send your 10yo outside with a hacksaw to disassemble the gigantic pumpkin that he brought home? :lmao: Is it also bad to give him a lighter and paper garbage to start a fire to burn said gigantic pumpkin pieces?:thumbsup2

I've seen about 5 tractors going up and down our road today. I can't for the life of me figure out what they are doing?? It's November, wet and rainy...not real good plowing, cutting, harvesting weather. Perhaps they had a tractorathon downtown or something??:confused3 :lmao:

It is POURING DOWN THE RAIN!!! Bleech...and to make matters worse my DSis called on her way home from the Magic Kingdom.:lmao: She said the theme parks are really suffering in Florida, low attendance due to the economy. Hence the reason for their new stay 4 days, get 3 free. She said it was not crowded at all today, even though it was a Saturday.

I have apparently found the best playtoy for a 10yo boy ever. You may recall the other night when we emptied out a wine bottle and DS asked if he could have it...well he's been lugging the bottle around every since then. He fills it full of water and drinks from it!:lmao: He rolls it around on the floor, puts pencils and money in it and even said "great now I can play spin the bottle". That is until I told him what Spin the Bottle was!:rotfl2: I have no idea what the fascination with the bottle is, but it has kept him occupied for two days now.:thumbsup2

I get surprised by N sometimes, he's a tweener and I would think be beyond playing .. guess not. He hauls out his Knex or Lego and will create things for hours, takes out games that J has deemed too boring and really enjoys them.

He's also my collector, hauling rocks around in his bookbag. I wanna say .. dude! It's heavy enough why are you hauling rocks?? :upsidedow :flower3:

Dug the bread machine out, DS is making us a loaf of bread. I couldn't find the recipe book, so had to get on the internet to get the recipe.

Both of my kids went thru that rock collecting phase. DS is still in the middle of it! This year is going to be difficult for Christmas for DS. He's at that in between stage. I know he would love to have nothing but video games, and I know he likes them, but he doesn't need to spend every waking hour playing video games. I don't think boys ever outgrow Legos, at least my DH hasn't yet!:lmao:

I gave my breadmaker to my sis, I wonder if she has it on her cabinet collecting dust? :rolleyes1 It's funny.. I gave her a bunch of stuff when we moved, now it's gradually getting returned to me.

She had plans to try making gluten free bread, I ownder if it didn't turn out very well as it was a cheapo maker with limited options. I think the gluten free breads need tweaking of differnet mix/ bake cycles in order to work.

It was easy pesey to use a bread maker.. but I do like making dough by hand. It's soothing to the soul, lots of time to let the mind wander as you knead and shape the dough.

I put mine away in the summer, but we seem to dig it out and use it every winter. Hopefully the last thing she gives you won't be a storage bill.:lmao:

I just found a recipe that said to eliminate half the water, add same amount of chunky applesauce and cinnamon. Sounded good to me! Think I might try that next.

The years my sis worked for Lego were heavenly for DH, Christmas and birthdays he would get big Lego sets.
One year they had a bunch of damaged boxes.. when they were picky about how product looked on the shelf. She gave us a few, some were missing parts but ummm we had more thna enough to find a replacement piece. YESH! We have one of those humongo bins- you know the size that a mobster can use to bury a body.. full of LEGO . Several hundred pounds of LEGO!

OMG! They are showing a family that lives in an apartment complex in Portland. They are being overrun with cockroaches and other bugs and management up in Seattle is doing nothing (be they will after the tv station contacts them!).:lmao:

Anyway, the cameras are showing the bugs and under the cabinets and on the floors. Personally I think the ladies apartment looks dirty, then at the end they showed her standing in the kitchen with a sinkful of dirty dishes. One must wonder what her apartment looked like when she didn't know a tv film crew was showing up!:lmao: Seriously lady, sweep the floor, don't leave food and dirty dishes out and clean the debris out of your cabinets. We can get cockroaches here, but normally not. Not a real good climate for them, too cold and they tend to die over the winter. Her house wasn't really gross or anything, but it certainly wasn't clean. I'm kind of surprised that they showed it on tv.:confused3

Here is a pic of the Hello Kitty cake I made. I shared it with my co-workers and they said it tasted good. :) Hello Kitty looks burnt but it really wasn't, I promise! :rotfl:

Now we know your priorities...leave the kitchen appliances behind when you move...but carry several hundred pounds of Lego's across the country.:rotfl2: By jove, I do believe you've got your priorities all figured out!:thumbsup2

Was just reading that you can bake a cake in your bread maker, prepare box cake mix as usual but cut oil in half. Cook on light setting then check about 15 minutes before bread would normally be done.

ewww shudder!

We lived in this huge apat complex on the 37th floor. This was when J was a baby. Neighbor had a cleanliness issue and we got overrun with their cockroaches. It was soooooooo nasty! We washed everything down with bleach, kept spray bottles of bleach around to kill the things on site. Everything was very clean, bread in fridge, all opened dry goods were sealed in plastic. It helped a lot.

Finally management was able to kick out the neighbors, could hear them using scrub brushes on the walls and floors to clean next door. Had roaches escaping thru the pipes into our apt. It was so gross!! :scared:

After that we never had any bugs, then we moved up to 39th flor. Only one other neighbor-- it was heavenly in comparison- gorgeous view and quiet. :goodvibes Well it was quiet until they decided to resurface the highway running nearby.. at night not to interfere with rush hour traffic  BOOM BOOM BOOm BOOM from 11 at night to 4 am-- OY!

It's interesting to drive thru that area and see how much it has changed. It was a younger crowd, college age and wannabe hippies in the 90's. Now it's public housing focus with a large Somali population.

The light rail runs right behind the complex, that would have been nice when we didn't have a car.

That turned out really cute Pix! I figured it would be really cute when you said you were going to make it the other day. You are very talented and creative.:thumbsup2

The Hungry Girl chick said you can make cake by adding diet pop (soda) to the cake mix.. no eggs, no oil. Or you can use pure canned pumpkin --works in brownie mix too.
