The horse girl, her big guy and WDW..a trip report! Update 8/4-Day 10, pg 26!

You got a lot in on the first day! Wow!

So what's up with ME? You have to find the ME check in counter? Are there several in the airport and you have to find the one for your resort?

I agree with the cup for the 2 yr old! Perfect gift! Plates/cups/bowls or bath towels with their favorite characters are always a big hit with the 2's I've found.

Dinner at Ohana sounds wonderful! We haven't eaten there before but have an ADR in Sept. Mmmmm.....bread pudding. :)

You're off to a great start...keep it comin'!

There's only one check-in counter but you have to take a monorail to the baggage terminal, then go down an escalator, then take the elevator down two flights and then go down a long hallway. There are no signs along the way until you come off the monorail and find your way down the escalator. Then finally there is someone there with a sign telling you where to go from there. Maybe they aren't allowed to put signs up in certain areas of the airport?? :confused3

Oh Tara just seeing that Ohana food brings back all of the memories...weren't those dips yummy for the chips and I agree the bread pudding with the banana sauce was scrumous!  Look even the dancin banana thinks so! Sounds like you had a great first day...make sure you put on comfy shoes for MGM!!!!:goodvibes

They really do their best to hide the ME counter, dont they???? I had the worst time trying to fnd it last year, and the people I asked were less than helpful. As if they never have to answer that question :lmao:

Glad to see things off to a good start, cant wait for more!

CSR looks lovely would you recommend the Ranchos? I keep hearing good things about O'Hana's and can't wait the food looks scrummy :goodvibes

DH is jealous that I will be at Ohanas again in Sept. and he has to wait until next August!!!!!

I know..we asked one guy last year and he just pointed. That's not too helpful when you're still a 3 levels away!!

I would recommend the Ranchos but I don't think they are any better then the Casitos and Cabanas (sp?) The Casitos are the ones near the convention center, I think, so you get a lot of businessmen. I could be wrong on that one though. I would have rather stayed at Caribbean Beacn or POR but they were full. I just care for the Mexican theming. :confused3

We had to stand, which was ok, but I was self-conscious thinking I could have used a retouch on the deodorant!! DH said it was in my head but hey, I’m a girl….I think about that stuff!

:lmao: sounds like something i'd be worried about! honestly, though, i wish more people worried about it as much as we did!!!! i smelled some stinky people on the buses at WDW! :scared:

you reminded me that i need to mention in my TR the fact that we got SO MANY "happy anniversary" comments from the CMs while on our trip....it was so nice! i can't believe i forgot to mention it!

glad you had a good first day. and you made me really excited about 'ohana's in september! :yay:

I loved your CS pictures! I have never been there. It looks like the landscaping is beautiful. We always have a hard time finding ME at the airport too.:confused3 I think they need more signs or something. The food at O'hanna's looked wonderful.:thumbsup2 I had never thought of going there during Wishes. I will have to remember that for my next trip.:)

CSR is beautiful.

Your dinner looked great...made me so hungry!

It's great that the CMs were paying attention to your pins! That's just the way it should be!

Oh yeah...tons of stinky people at WDW. Even kids which I blame the parents for!!! It stinks to be in 95 degree weather, in a line, with a stinky person in front of you!!!

I made our reservation for about 9:15 so we were eating dessert when they started at 10! :goodvibes

I know! I can't look at my food pics without getting hungry either!!! Ohanas is our favorite...everything is so delicious and way worth the money!! :thumbsup2

I should have the next installment up tonight or tomorrow!! :wizard:

I just caught up on your TR. Your doing a great job! I don't think I have read how much weight have you lost so far. I am trying to lose now for our Halloween trip. Congrats on the wedding and DVC. We toured SSR when we were there in May and I loved it, I couldn't convince DH to take the plunge.

Day 2, part 1

So I set my cell phone alarm for 7:15 thinking that would be plenty of time for both of us to get up, shower and head out the door. I know, I know..I could get a Mickey wake up call. Honestly, I have a fear of over sleeping and only trust my cell's alarm. Maybe at SSR we'll try it. We were up to 12:30am the night before but that is not unusual for me….I usually to go to bed between 11pm-12am and get up at 6 for work so I was rearing to go! :woohoo: I jumped in the shower and that’s when I realized we had not gotten the king size bed I had requested. No idea why it just hit me in there but it did. I guess if they had noted it was our honeymoon instead of a conference we would have. Hmm. Oh well. SSR has a queen bed if I do recall so I don’t mind. Plus, it’s nice to have the extra bed to put stuff on. We have a full size at home anyway.

DH and I do not drink coffee. Can you believe that we made it into our early 30’s without a coffee addiction?? It’s true. I just get up and go every morning. Even on a work day. DH will drink coffee at work if it’s there but we don’t buy it or make it ourselves. I am trying to break him of his chewing tobacco habit so maybe a coffee one will have to replace it?!

So out of the shower at 7:50 DH comes and he still has to shave. That’s ok…calm down OCD wife! I just wanted to get to MGM before rope drop. It’s a Star Wars weekend and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok, Willow, Leprechaun) are scheduled to be there. Apparently we pick up fast Passes at Indiana Jones to get autographs. I think that’s a great idea!!! DH asked if getting an autograph fast pass will still allow us to get other FP’s. :confused3 I would think so….Disney wouldn’t be that cruel! So although it would be a pain to detour from TOT and RNRC to do this, it would be worth it in the end because they can run out of these autograph fast passes. I thought a picture or two with Darth Vadar and Jedi mickey might also be nice but not if there is a huge line.

We were finally ready to go! We put on our pins and headed out. Just as we closed the door we saw the MGM bus go by. #^*(&! Since the CM at check-in had not given us a bus schedule I had no idea how often they ran. At SOG last year they came every 30min. We headed down anyway and were happy to see another bus in 10 min. Not too shabby at all!

I traded in my AP voucher while DH got a spot in the line at the turnstiles. We weren’t that far back….I was surprised there weren’t more people in line at 8:30. Two storm troopers came out onto the roof while we were waiting….definitely entertaining!

035.jpg

Then they let us in at 8:45ish. Of course everyone headed down Hollywood Blvd. We had decided on the bus ride over to skip the autographs after all. What the heck would we do with them anyway? Yeah, it’s cool to say we met a Leprechaun but c’mon….it’s just another thing I would have felt guilty throwing away someday. We still had hopes for pics with Jedi Mickey and Darth Vadar.

Anyway, we lined up at Hollywood and Sunset and waited for the go ahead. No fancy skit today..just this guy on the roof.

036.jpg

He was funny…at one point the announced he wasn’t wearing any pants!!! We headed for TOT for a FP and then rode RNRC with a 10 min. wait.

0263.jpg

DH asks why everyone runs when they drop the rope. I said b/c the apparently they only have time for one ride or they have to pee. ;) After RNRC it was just about time for TOT. We were about 10 min. early for our FP’s and thought our Just Married pins would let us sneak in. Nope. The CM was not having it. So we hung out on the bench and then went up again ONE MINUTE early. She almost didn’t let us go in!! Some of these FP nazis are on quite the power trip!! :rotfl:

Now I have been on this ride once before so I knew what to expect but for some reason it always scares the crap out of me!! :scared1: So when I drop I automatically put my arm through DH’s. I don’t mean too..it just happens!!! But it is a great ride….if anyone is scared I urge them to try it. It really is worth it..especially the set-up going into it.

038.jpg

We never buy the pictures at the end of the ride. We bought the HDDR pic last year and honestly, I have no idea where it is. So unless it is a super-dee-duper pic we will always resist.

After TOT we saw a PhotoPass guy..something we said we were going to try this year. We didn’t know about it last year and the only pic we have together is the HDDR one where I look retched. He made us do some “honeymoon” poses with my ring hand on DH’s chest. Oh boy. I felt silly. We just aren’t a lovey-dovey couple. We are sarcastic and goofy. I don't have these pics yet...I didn't realize they don't offer 4x6's and they sure are $$! I don't want the whole CD b/c there are only 6 pictures I want. So I have no idea what I am going to do yet. :confused3

We had gotten another FP for RNRC before we met photo man and we still had about 2 hours until it was up…so we headed over to the Great Movie Ride.

Wizard of Oz part..my favorite!
040.jpg

I love this ride!! DH says it is relaxing. I know a lot of people think it’s cheesy, and it is, but I just like it. Every time I go on I tell myself I am going to watch all the old movies they portray on the ride but never do. The wait for this one was about 30 min but I think it ended up being more like 20. I know I have said this before but for the most part I don’t mind waiting in Disney lines if they are 30 minutes or less…they making the waiting areas so appealing with things to look at or watch that the time flies by. Unless you are waiting outside. Then it is just unbearable and makes me cranky. :headache:

By this time it was 11am and we were hungry. DH doesn’t eat breakfast and I had skipped it. I meant to bring breakfast bars or something with me from home but forgot them. If I had bought breakfast I would not have been ready for lunch until 2. So I had skipped it as well and was quite hungry!! We headed over to Toy Story Pizza Planet.

043.jpg

I know there are also a bunch of people out there that don’t care for this place either. WE LOVE IT!!!

pepp. pizza, veggie pizza
042.jpg

The pizza is so good and I think they use Djorno (sp??) crust. We got there right when it opened and were already 8 people back in line. They have “value meals” but they only come with a personal size pizza and salad..no drink. So DH (who hates salad) opted for just a pizza, chips and drink whereas I went for the meal plus a drink. It came to $21. (we aren't on the DDP until Wed) Now most of you know I am on a low fat diet but always try to throw it out the window on vacation. I tried to resist looking at how much fat was in the Ranch dressing. Yowsers!!! 28g. Of fat. Ouch. That is almost my fat content for a whole “diet” day!! DH reminded me not to think about it, and I didn’t, I just didn’t use the whole package. As usual, the pizza was great!! We will definitely go back here again!! Maybe even on our 2nd MGM day! :cool1:

After pizza I wanted to sit for a few…I have IBS and I never know what food will set it off. Sometimes I can just look at a certain food and know it will kill my stomach. Other times it can be caused from something I have eaten 1000 times but that day it just didn’t agree with me. Pizza is usually a good thing but I wanted to make sure. So we headed over to Muppet 3-D.

041.jpg

I love this show! Very cute and just the right length for DH. I grew up watching the Muppets so it’s very nostalgic.

By the time that was over we headed over to the Backlot Tour. We had about a 5 minute wait but it seemed longer. Probably b/c the waiting area is slightly uphill and my legs were killing me. Not my feet thanks heavens but my thighs…it went away once we got walking again but I think it was just from standing on a slight hill. I like this ride…not my favorite of course but it serves as a nice break. Although the first part of the ride has a 10 min. show/demonstration with people from the audience and that also involves standing. I just wanted to get to the tram part!!! After the first part was over we were herded over to the trams. It takes you through the “prop dept” with tons of stuff from movies. I always get so angry b/c I want to stop and look at these but I feel pressured to keep moving by the cattle behind me. So I never do. Life’s short..I really should take the time. Oh well. The ride was uneventful….just a nice break.

046.jpg

It was time again for FP’s at RNRC. We headed over and actually had a 15 min. wait for it! I think that is the most we have ever waited for a ride using FP. It was pretty torturous b/c most of the wait was outside in the sun..it had to be over 90 degrees. :scared: But I sure do love this ride!!! Every time I check out the pictures my head is down when you take off. Guess little ol’ me can’t keep it up!! This time I vowed I would!!! DH said to just lean it back against the head rest..easier said then done. I did succeed however…no clue why I hadn’t just tried harder before!! I never noticed this before but when the ride is over, and you are waiting to go to the unloading area, the car sits under black lights. I happened to look at our pants, EWW!!!!!!! :crazy2: All the stains and whatnot that had never come out in numerous washings. Gross. Cool though to DH! Reminded me of an episode of CSI when they used black lights on hotel sheets from a crime scene. Just nauseating.

Up next..MGM part 2 and the nightmare I call dinner

The signature police got me so I had to get rid of my weight ticker. So far I have lost 13 pds but I tomorrow that will change when I find out what I gained at WDW!! :scared1:

Just found your report and enjoying it...WDW is the perfect honeymoon...You guys are a great, fun couple.

yay!!!! another great installment! :thumbsup2 we may end up trying pizza planet on our next trip to MGM. we ate at backlot express last time and it was pretty good, but i love me some good pizza! is it crowded with kids in there? we didn't go in, but i've heard it's like chuck e. cheese and filled with kids running around. i don't have anything against kids...just don't like having to dodge them when i'm carrying my food to my table!

by the way, about the black lights at the end of RnRC, my ray noticed those too and he said something really gross (something only a boy would think of to say!) and when he said it everyone got really quiet. i was so embarrassed!!!!! but i couldn't stop laughing. :p

We go pretty early, right when they open at 11am, and haven't ever had a problem with the kids. The main seating is upstairs so you don't run into the arcade kids. I think there are only like 4 tables downstairs. There is so much seating upstairs it always felt empty. I think they have seating outside too but DH has a phobia about eating outside so we never do!!

Great installment! :thumbsup2 Seems like you got to do a lot and really used the FP well. I've never been to MGM but will have to try it next time we go. The heat was crazy in the middle of the day..wasn't it! You mentioned you had IBS...what's that? Sometimes food doesn't agree with me in the heat or if I get upset etc.

It stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome....in other words when you eat something that doesn't agree with you then you had better find a bathroom fast!!! My best friend has it as well and so does my dad. Not so much fun!!! :scared:

Your girls would love MGM..lots of fun shows for them. Definitely do it next time!! :thumbsup2

DH and I do not drink coffee. Can you believe that we made it into our early 30’s without a coffee addiction??
Me too I love the smell of coffee but just can't stand the taste!

Chewing tobacco :scared:

We had decided on the bus ride over to skip the autographs after all. What the heck would we do with them anyway?
That's a good point, you can still see them without queueing for hours :)

He was funny…at one point the announced he wasn’t wearing any pants!!!
Another DISer said the same on their TR maybe you were there the same day????

Although the first part of the ride has a 10 min. show/demonstration with people from the audience and that also involves standing.
I was chosen for that last trip, I got soaked :rotfl2:

I'm finally caught up and it sounds like you're having a lot of fun so far! I really want to try dinner at Ohana sometime. I tried for our trip in September, but the only opening they had was 9pm and my kids won't wait that long to eat!

Looking forward to reading more!
Denise
