The Holiday Card poll made me think of something

I've not been exposed to much of the United States and have zero exposure to any other country other than what I've read about them. I thought it would be interesting to find a group, if such a thing exists, that trades postcards from their city, state, country? Does such a thing exist? I think it would be fun to get involved in a group like that but have no idea how to find one. Heck, I don't see postcards for sale like I used to years ago so maybe they just aren't a thing anymore.

Curious if any of you are aware of a group that does such a thing?

I'm not, but I agree with you - sounds like a interesting group to belong to!
I'd probably get a PO box to use for it as that would probably be much safer than using a home address. Other than that, I can't think of any reason not to participate in something like that.

If you go past any Love's Travel Stops, they usually have some state-specific postcards.

Don't know of any official groups, but I've seen where people on a board will do a card exchange with like-minded people.

I might have to search for a subreddit that does something like this.

Tippy (for a second I thought you were Clara ;) :teeth:) ) I think some elementary schools still collect postcards from other areas; is that what you mean? It would be cool to collect postcards. :)

Yes, I've heard of school groups doing it and figured it would be something that others do outside of that setting. I'm struggling to find a group that does it though, so figured I'd ask here. You know you can almost always get the answer to a question here. :)

Not exactly what you are looking to do, but we did a postcard exchange on a westbound transatlantic cruise. Even my husband, who was initially ambivalent about the whole thing, got into it when we would find them at our door.

I guess I just need to find my people. :)

Like when we used to have pen pals!!!
Yes! The internet has opened a whole new world for me but I still think receiving and collecting postcards from other places would be fun. I haven't found the group that does it anymore though. If I was more tech savvy I'd try to figure out how to create and run one myself but I think I'd need a lot more knowledge about all this stuff to do it properly.

I remember that! I had an Austrian pen-pal I wrote to for about 3 years. Then things just died down, no idea why we stopped writing.
Not exactly the same but when I was in high school (and working too) I sponsored a child through the Christian Children's Fund. You would also exchange letters with them. Mine was in Thailand. I would get her letters in her writing then a translated typed letter. I remember sending her pictures and postcards, little things that could lay flat in the envelope. I actually still have all her letters from almost 50 years ago. Wondered what happened to her.
