Going to see Deal or No Deal at Culver City studios. Wondering how far the Grove is from there. Thought we could spend the morning at the Grove and head over to Culver City later for the show. TIA!

You will park in the garage at Washington & Ince.

From Google maps:
Drive : 4.5 mi – about 16 mins

1. Head south on The Grove Dr toward W 3rd St 0.1 mi
2. Turn right at W 3rd St 0.3 mi
3. Turn left at S Fairfax Ave 2.3 mi
4. Turn right at Venice Blvd 1.3 mi
5. Turn left at National Blvd 0.1 mi
6. Turn right at Washington Blvd 0.4 mi

from a ticket site:
Parking for this event will be at the PARKING GARAGE located at the corner of WASHINGTON and INCE (right next to the TOYOTA CAR DEALERSHIP on WASHINGTON). After parking, please walk across the street to the studio and enter at GATE 2 on INCE. You will need to present your ticket in line to one of the attending studio paiges in order to receive your FREE PARKING VOUCHER.

Thank you perlster!

I thought the Grove was pretty close. Trying to do both in one day.;)

Hope you enjoy it.

I have to confess that attending one taping of Match Game back in the day was enough for me.

Seeing King Kong's hand from my school's playground was neat, though!

Dh and I went to the taping of Deal or No Deal last summer and really enjoyed it. The wait to enter the studio was longer than the taping of the show! This year it will be me, dd and her friend! They are so excited to see "Hollywood" lol! They are 14, what do they know!

While you're in the area, be sure to at least take a look at the Culver Hotel,
where the Munchkins stayed while the Wizard of Oz was being filmed.

I couldn't have given you better Directions, I used to live a block away from the studios :)
However 16 mins. no way, more like 20-25 (Traffic and light sequences on Fairfax and Venice don't make sense)

enjoy the show.

Unless you have guaranteed seats for the taping, make sure you get there early enough and wait in line. The tickets they give away for those shows are free, and they tend to give out way more than the place sits. Also, you could run into a situation where a number of seats are already reserved for guests. So, even if you were tenth in line, you may not be able to get in for the taping because the audience could be filled up with guests or special groups.

Thanks Joe,
I am hoping to line up ATLEAST 1 1/2 hr early. I do have a print out of the "free tickets", knowing there isn't a guarantee.
Now the girls want to do Hollywood too! Too much for one day?;)

It all depends on what time the taping is at (I am assuming around 5, since a lot of tapings take place in the late afternoon). If you are down to choosing between Hollywood and The Grove, I'd choose Hollywood. Hollywood has changed a lot in the recent years, and there is more stuff happening for the future for the area (such as a really nice W Hotel that will open next year). If you do choose Hollywood, just hang around the Hollywood/Highland area as that is the main place to be. At this area, you have the Kodak Theater (which is where the Academy Awards are held), you have the Hollywood Wax Museum (has been there for YEARS!), the Guinness Book of World Records Museum, the Chinese Theater (with all the hand & footprints), you'll be right across the street from the El Capitan and Disney Store (that also has a Disney ice cream parlor in it), and the theater where Jimmy Kimmel does his show from. Oh, and don't forget the Hollywood/Highland shopping complex that opened roughly the same time as The Grove (but doesn't have the same type of stores as The Grove). The only things that The Grove has are stores and restaurants. It is nicely designed (Rick Caruso (the developer) is known for open air malls that have a "Disney" look to them,) but it is just a shopping center that is next to the Farmers Market.

So, bottom line, it is your call on what to do.

Thanks Joe!
The taping is at 2pm so I want to be there around noon.
The girls want to do Hollywood more than the Grove.
We will get ove there early, do some stuff and have a very early lunch at the Disney Soda Shop. We ate there last summer and liked it!
Then travel over to Culver City.
Does that sound like a good plan?
PS - Did the wax museum last summer...not this time..kinda yucky!

I can get my shopping fix in at Hollywood and Highland!;)

My suggestion to you... once you get to the studios, check out the line to get in. If it is long, you may be out of luck (sorry). I would talk to the guard there and find out how many people they let in for a taping. If you are in a good place in line, then stick it out. If not, I'd suggest that you then skip the entire taping thing and head off to The Grove (or if you were lucky to sit through the taping, then you can go there after the taping (if your schedule allows)). If you do, be sure to drop by Bennett's in the Farmers Market and have their ice cream and cola that they make there. Or, if you are in the mood for dinner, go to Morel's at The Grove and check out the water show that goes on at the fountain located right outside of the restaurant.

BTW - I grew up close by to Hollywood and always thought the Wax Museum was cool... tacky cool.

Totally agree! Tacky cool! I couldn't bring myself to go into the horror rooms!

I am more confused now. The girls really want to try and see the show, and I thought since we are so close that I could get Hollywood done too. :upsidedow

Well, you kind of answered your question right there... you ought to make a concerted effort to see the taping. Assuming you will get out at a decent time (say 5), you still will have time to see The Grove and Hollywood after that.

BTW, you never did mention where you are staying at.

We are staying in Anaheim Hills just off the 91.
We are trying to pack as much into this trip as possible. I will be exausted when I get home!
Did I mention we are doing 2 days at DLR and the beach! lol
We are only there for 6 days!:rotfl2:

Thanks for the help!
