I'm pretty sure but not positive if check in or or before Dec 19 all of your nights at POP will be billed at the 2005 value rate ($77 US/nt plus tax before any codes/discounts). If you check in Dec 20 or later you will be staying holiday season and the per night price will be a lot higher. We were in FL last year over Christmas (Dec 18-23, ASMo, Dec 23-31, Daytona Beach) and thought it was a fabulous way to spend Christmas.

Well DH and I are contemplating a trip in December with two sets of dates.
December 15-20
December 21-27
We are unsure of which one we should do. The reason we wanted to go during Christmas is because we have never gone during Christmas and it will be nice to get away from the chaos of four different families pulling us their way and arguing about it. We wanted a nice care-free trip with the peace of it just being us celebrating!

My question is... has anyone ever been to Pop and had a wonderful time at Christmas and didn't regret going at the busy time? I'm sure that the crowds aren't too bad, right?? We are pretty set on going at Christmas and being there for Christmas day but I wanted to hear someone else say it's a great time to go! :rotfl:
The first set of dates will be MUCH nicer for you. There will be less crowds by far, and you'll be able to enjoy the holiday spirit much easier. The second set of dates will be JAM PACKED BEYOND ALL BELIEF.

Ahh, help!! I can't find the fax number to fax my room request to the assigner at Pop!! I swear as the trip gets closer I lose my mind a little bit more! :rotfl:

Out of the three pool areas at POP, at any of the pool areas do they play music during open pool hours? If so, what can you tell me about it?

DH says that the music at the ASMo main pool area put him into "sensory overload". I don't remember there actually being any music being played but he assured me that there was music played there almost continuously along with music being played continuously in all the different lands at MK. He told me that the music at MK changed as you went from land to land. He plays several instruments so I guess would be more in tune to this type of thing then me.

If I'm remembering correctly... they play things from whatever pool time period you are in. If you are in the hippy dippy pool I think they play 60's and 70's hits and if you are in the 80's pool they play 80's ...well you get it.

We'll be at POP in just 15 days!!! :) It will be our 3rd stay there since September - we really love it there!

Just wondering - has anyone here faxed room requests to POP lately? I thougt I had read they weren't doing those anymore? :confused3 Maybe I'm mistaken. I've never faxed in a request to POP & always gotten a great room, but since we're celebrating our 5th anniversary & are going during a busier time than normal, I was thinking a faxed request might help us get the room we really want. So, has anyone faxed to POP lately?

Never mind, I just found it! Sorry for my little outburst!
Since I didn't know about this - could you answer with the fax number? do I just fax them saying what kind of room I want, and maybe by the time I get there - they might be able to help me out? :sunny:
Thanks!

All right now, it only took me 6 days to read this entire thread, and it was certainly worth it. I recently had to change our Jan 1st ressie from POFQ to POP due to some unexpected bills at home. Probably will save about $50 a night doing that. Pop looks to be a great family resort based on everything I have read. There will be four of us, myself, DW, and 2 DS, ages 15 &11. We will hopefully help all the other families staying at Pop get what they want as far as requests for certain sections and rooms, because we only want a non smoking room, which I don't forsee being a problem. Other than that, any room with 2 double beds will work for us, as we are only in the room to sleep at night. All of the waking hours of the days will be spent at the parks, DTD, DisneyQuest, and resort hopping. DW and myself are going to spend one day resort hopping while the boys enjoy DisneyQuest. Thanks for all of the great info prior to this, and I have a little over 8 months left to keep reading until our trip. This is a fantastic thread. Bill :earsboy:
Bill, We will also be checking in at POP on Jan 1 2006. Maybe we will see your family while we are there. I will have to be sure to have something lime green on. :goodvibes

I will be staying at the Pop Century this June for the first time. I have seen and read a lot of good things about the resort. I even have a very good friend that is a Disney Sales Rep. (How about having that job? How hard is it to go around trying to tell people about the best place on Earth?) and he has told me that the resort is fantastic for me and my family. I am worried a little because I have read a few things that make me think that the service, cleanliness, and the CM are not up to par. If anyone can help me with this one, please do so.

Thanks for your help!

bubba73,
I was just at Pop in February and thought that the resort was great. It was clean, very nicely themed, and the CMs were very nice. I know that this is not the most detailed response but I just wanted to add my voice to those that will tell you that Pop is a very cool place.

I live in NJ, but in yesterdays NY Post, they have a travel section and it was on Florida hotels. In Central Florida, they had Wilderness Lodge #1, Animal Kindom #2, Ritz Carlton #3 and Pop Century #4. Not to bad as we will be arrivng on June 26th to PC. The write up excellent. :cool1:  :cool1:

I check into Pop Century next Thursday night. My reservations say "Classic Years". What does this mean? One of the 50's or 60's, etc buildings? I have never stayed at a value resort, so I am not sure what to expect. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

These are 50-90's. The Legendary Years is the only other choice and it's not even finished yet (Or being worked on)!! This basically doesn't tell you anything about where you will be. They will let you know upon check in. If you want to request a room, you should fax in your request so that they know that you have a preference. Remember it's only a request! I love POP though...they are really nice and it's a great atmosphere!!! I'm so jealous!!!! :Pinkbounc

Anyone know which exit we take to get to POP, coming on I-4 from the East Coast?? Also, which exit for a close grocery store (preferably someplace not too expensive, we just want some milk!) Thanks!
Oh, and I leave in 2 days!

Looking at booking a September trip. WDW veterans whose favorite resorts are Wilderness Lodge (we've rented points and stayed in the Villas there) and Port Orleans Riverside.

I am running the numbers. It looks like a switch from POR to POP, and adding only an additional $125 or so total to the package, could increase our vacation from 4 to 7 nights!!!!! Not being a fool - I am considering this.

DH and I are in our 40's, no kids. We stayed at the All Stars once when money was tight and it was okay - except for the hundreds of teenage cheerleaders screaming everywhere. :sad2:

How is this resort for adults?
Any areas to request?
Any areas to avoid?
Comments from anyone who has stayed there without kids?

Thanks!

Beer question....I'm trying to decided if we need groceries delivered or not...the biggest concern for dh is imported beer. I know the gift shop areas sell 6 packs (or at least I think they do!). Any ideas as to name brands and prices??? Thanks!!!

Dodie - this is a value resort - not a moderate and certainly not a deluxe.

start with that and I think you will love POp Century. I love the 50's building - but I was born then.

You might preferred the 70's.

the 50's have their own pool - the 70's don't.

I would avoid the preferred section - the 60's just because I don't like to spend unneccessary money.

Nothing in this resort is as far away as part of the Polyn and POR.

besides half the fun is walking around the resorts and saying "do you remember that...."

longer WDW trip is always better than a shorter one.

renessa - sorry I can't drink beer - so I am no help to you.
