The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

I just booked us (me & dh) at Pop Century for the first week of October.

2 Questions:

1. What does "Magic On Demand" mean? Tyler noted that POP was a MOD resort.

2. If you request a standard room but are put in a preferred room at check-in, do you still have to pay the addition $10/night or is that considered a "free upgrade"?

T.I.A.! :earsgirl:

Hubby and I are staying at the Pop Dec 6-11 prior to a cruise out of Miaimi. We wouod like to wash clothes on Saturday befroe we leave for our cruise. Does Pop have a lundry room for self use if so how much does it cost? pirate:

The Twist and Hustle will be done in the Food Court, Lobby, and the Porte Cochere (luggage area)... pending CM availability of course.

Tyler, where can we see you doing the hustle?

I KNOW!!! Tell me about it! I saw the show and I am going in June as well and we are going to be in the 70's building and I got so excited. The boyfriend has never been before, so he isn't excited. ::MickeyMo

My boyfriend was the same way when we went in September. Half way through the trip I caught him singing Disney songs in the shower. Now he keeps asking when we can go back again. :) Trust in the magic- he'll love it!

There is a laundry room right by petals pool bar. We used it once during our stay and I really didn't think we were going to need to so we weren't prepared. I 'think' (don't quote me) it was about $1 a load, and they sell the soap and dryer sheets too, but they are like $2 a box or something. Plus, we put money in for a box of detergent and it gave us fabric softener which we didn't need, so we had to put $2 more in to get what we needed

Magic On Demand is a demand based flexible dispatching system for the buses. During the morning hours, buses are staged just outside the Pop load zones, and are called over and routed as needed.

As for Preferred... if the hotel upgrades you, it is complimentary. This doesn't happen very often. If you decide to upgrade upon check in, then it would be $10 additional per room per night.

There are laundry rooms with vending machines and change machines located at each pool.

I know there aren't any coffeemakers in the room at Pop, but I thought I read somewhere you can request one?? If so how big is it? My DH is a coffee addict and I wont be getting him out of the room without it! If it is just a 4 cup I was thinking about going to the Walmart when we get there and getting a $10 one but the question is what to do with it when we leave?? Has anyone ever shipped one from home? Thanks for the help--Lucinda

KATIESMOMMY - I always bring my own coffee maker. It's actually a perculator. I have never shipped it from home. It's not that big so I can fit it between some cloths in one of the suit cases.

:cheer2: I am going April 27-May2. Just a question for all of you who have stayed at Pop. Is it worth it to get a preferred room? and if it is what would you request?? I would love to be able to see the fireworks. Could this happen? Thank you all for you help. I can not wait to go!

Debbie

Wirki, I haven't been to Pop yet but from what I've read it doesn't seem to be necessary to pay for the preferred room. If you can stay in the 70's or 50's sections you can still be really close to Classic Hall.

From some locations (not sure where) you can see the very tops of fireworks.

I stayed @ Pop in Oct. I was located in the 50's next to to lake the farthest away from the main building/bus stops. I hated it. Every night coming back exhaulsted it was such a long walk back to the room. A couple of times I needed to go up to the main building but didn't go because of the hike. Perhaps if you are lucky enough to get a room in the 50's at the end closest to the main building it would be better than what I had. Don't assume just because your in the 50's it's not that far. Depends on where in the 50's your room is located.

I have reserved a preferred room for our April trip @ Pop.

thanks for all the info. we are staying there may 6-8th. we have always stayed at the CSR but I wasnt able to get any fla rates or ap so we will be at the Pop. Looks like it will be just fine and perfect for the kids. :earsboy:

I've stayed in that section of the 50's and it was about a 5 minute walk to the food court and bus stop. I agree, it felt far at the end of the day or if you just wanted to run to the food court for something, but it really is not far. It's not nearly as far as some 80's and 90's.

A preferred room could be just as far as the that section of the 50's - only so many of the preferred rooms are close to the food court etc. Many 70's and 50's rooms are just as close, so if close tp Classic Hall is important be sure to have that has the first request (other than non-smoking).

Be out at the bus stop no later than 7:00am, and board the MK bus. Let the driver know you need to get to Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary.

We have early ressies on June 11 at Chef Mickey's:
Will the bus take us to the Cont or will we still need to take the mono?
