I haven't been to POP yet (making reservations today for 3/4/05) so I don't know if they have LEGOs, but they certainly do have Mowgli and Baloo. They are at building #5 in the 60's.

I think the CM you talked to about the Jungle Book was on crack! ha ha. As you can see from the pics posted, there is a Jungle Book statue. I really don't remember seeing any legos. He could have been thinking about the Play-Dough statue..that's in the 70s and it's right across from Baloo and Mowgli. :earboy2:

We have res at CBR but are seriously planning on changing today to POP. We are taking our 4 yr old son for the first time to WDW. I can save quite a bit by staying at POP and think he will enjoy all of the larger than life figures. Can you please tell which building would be best to request? Are there any closer to main pool, bus stops, food, etc? Any other perks or reasons to stay at POP over CBR or other resorts?

Also, I had seen on another thread a member who had pictures of all of the resorts. I think his name was Steve or Ranger Claiborne or something like that but now I cannot find it. Can anyone lead me to his threads so I can look up his pics? Thanks.

I need to get everything straight before I call to make reservations, in case I get a clueless CM, like ebarj1098 did.

I want to request the 70's area near Classic Hall. I'd like the Big Wheel building, but I don't know what letter or number it is. I've seen a map that shows that it's B and other info that says it's #10. Which one is correct?
I also want 1st floor, nonsmoking (DH has asthma) and double beds. Is this too much to ask?

I just booked last night and I asked her if we could be in the Big Wheel building and she said sure. So my point is you don't have to know the building #.

The thing is if I get a CM who doesn't even know there is a building with a Big Wheel I'll be in trouble. The CM ebarj1098's MIL spoke with "told her, there is no Jungle Book at POP".

Hello left210

Chairborne Ranger Here!

Take a look at my sig. You can access the floor layouts, resort presentations and more.

Have fun!

ebarj1098, sorry to hear your MIL messed up the Ressie. I think the preferred bldgs are overrated. Looking at the distances, Buildings 1 (50's) and 10 (70's) are actually CLOSER, especially if you get on the correct end. Ask for "as close to "Everything Pop" as possible, unless you need to use the elevator, then ask for closest to the elevator.

Hi, i just made my ressies online at disneyworld.com

I didnt know we can request for what rooms we want until we call them few days before we arrive or the day we check in

Can I still call them and ask for a specific room? or area?

My MIL first WDW trip is this June and we'll be at POP! She desperately wants everything perfect. She called Disney yesterday to see what building we'd be in, asking if it was in fact the Mowgli and Baloo. The CM told her, there is no Jungle Book at POP. She was confused and asked what building is fun for kids, the CM said well, there is Legos in 70's. My MIL is thinking there are Legos to play with or something and changes to this, FROM 60's. I wanted to be in 60's because she needs a short walking distance because of a recent knee surgery. We are now stuck as the rooms in 60's are booked of course. Should we keep checking to see if we can switch, or stick with 70's? We are going with a 2 and 4 yr old too. Thanks for any input!

:earsgirl: pirate: :earsboy:

A couple things to note:

- Baloo and Mowgli from the Jungle Book are the icons for Building 5, which is 60's B. If you want a VIEW of them, you'd want Building 4, 60's A, pool view.

- There are no Legos at Pop Century, except maybe in a shadow box at the front desk.

- No matter what ANYONE tells you, until you physically check in, no one can tell you what room or even what building you will be in. The ONLY thing that can be told is if you will be in the 1960's (Preferred) or any other decade (Standard).

- Chances are, you're going to get a room on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor. To minimize walking distance, make sure to notate the medical condition on the reservation, reiterate it upon checkin, and request a room that is close to the center of the building (where the elevators are at). Even if you are placed in the FAR wing, it's still the same amount of walking distance, since the close wing would have to backtrack back to the elevator. If you happen to get a 1st floor room, then of course you'd want one really close to Classic Hall. If you want to be in the 1970s, you can always downgrade when you check in, and you'll have a credit to your account.

1st floor will be the hardest request to get, everything else should be fine. Yes, the Big Wheels building is #10. (room numbers start with a 0)

Just so you know, you can request a building, but until you check in, nothing is set in stone. Make sure to reiterate your request upon check-in, so that the cast member can try thier hardest to grant it for you. :)

We are 3 families going to be staying @ Pop. I have reservations for 3 rooms. I requested ground floor because one of the children my 6 year old grandson is autisic. He has a tendency to pace back and forth. I told the cm I spoke with the situation and explained if there were people below us on another floor they wouldn't be very happy with the constant walking back and forth also he has a habit of hopping when he gets excited. We are also getting a preferred roomed. I'm hoping they can accommadate us.

I suggest changing. My three year old last year LOVED POP. the figures, the kiddie pool, the splash fountain, it is right up a kids alley and we loved it to. The food court, lobby, store, etc. is so bright, colorful, clean and GREAT. We are big POP fans. We stayed in 50's and were close to everything, right by Lady and the Tramp. My son still talks about "POP Century" all the time and can't wait to go back this summer.

We just booked our very first Disney vacation. We chose POP for June 7-13. We dont have any room prefs. but I have a transportation question. Our DD will be competing at a gymnastics comp. at the sports complex. Is there transportation from POP? This is all very new to us, so thanks in advance for any help you can give a newbie

Well you guys convinced me to change to POP and when I called they no longer had any rooms (it was only about an 1 hour after they told me they had rooms). Anyway I am going to keep trying because I think my son would really like this resort better as it is much more Disney than CBR. Thanks again for your help. Wish me luck! (Anyone want to upgrade to CBR -maybe we can swap reservations?! Not sure if that is possible but who knows.)

I just have to share about the reservation CM's who do not seem to be very knowledgable about the resorts. I called yesterday to put in my room request. Non-smoking, 50's or 70's, 4th floor, lake view. Well the CM said "oh I didn't know there was a lake at POP". I thought it was pretty funny. :) Now that I have read some of the posts I think it is really funny. :rotfl: Maybe they need to have a class on the resorts or have maps available to them. Although I have heard the reservations are not in Orlando so maybe a lot of them have never been to Disney. Hard to believe that someone would not want to go to Disney but sadly true.

P.S. Sorry about your MIL, I hope you get the room you need. Just a note some of the 70's rooms appear to be just as close as the 60's rooms so hopefully it will work out.

When are you going??? I'd keep trying if I were you. It's worth it! POP is great!

Getting three non-smoking rooms together on the ground floor of a preferred building... that's going to be hard. VERY hard.

There could be a chance that one of the rooms might be near by (ie, a few doors down)...
