Thanks to all who are posting great info on this thread. Reading through here is getting us VERY EXCITED !!! :cool1:

I check in one week from tomorrow!!!!!!

Is faxing room request a good idea. I know in the past that was suggested for other resorts about two days before you arrive, but then I thought I saw a post somewhere where they don't want you to do that anymore. Anybody know?

Because Pop is a large resort, there may be lines for the buses. Rest assured, Disney knows about this. Our dispatching system is dynamic and flexible. This means that buses are not on fixed routes. Depending on crowds and demand, buses will be dispatched accordingly. During peak times, they can come one right after another, sometimes even double loading.

Yep, Pop has great bussing, we saw the double load many times when we stood there last year(one time even a triple load(almost, 2 buses loading, and one waiting for one of them to pull away) at MK heading back to pop. was kinda cool. :boat:

I remember reading mini-refrigerators were being put in the resort hotel rooms. Does this apply to the value resorts as well? If so does anyone know when this is going to be done?

Thanks!

no the refrigerators are only for the moderates and deluxes -plus the home away from home (they have always had them) - not the VALUES at this time.

Can you bring your own mini fridge from home to use there? We plan on staying 9 nights so it would be cheaper for us to buy one at Walmart then rent one for our stay. Anyone know if they allow this?

I'm sure you could bring a mini fridge. We just picked up a styrofoam cooler at Winn-Dixe ($1.89). We just refilled the ice in the morning. Worked like a charm!

Yes, you can do this.

In Oct we got the backside of the 80s building which seemed like a horrendous walk after a day at the parks.

I can't wait to get there. I requested the 70's building on my ressie, but the whole place sounds great! We once stayed at the ASMu in the Country Inn and talk about a long walk after the parks.......it was several years ago, but I bet our walk was at least 15 - 20 minutes from the bus to the room! From what I've read on here, no building is longer than a 5 minute walk, so I guess I won't mind which building we're in!

Do they have the little "refreshment trucks" at POP? At ASMu I think they were only out in the morning, but it was nice to just walk down the stairs and get your morning coffee.

I don't remember any refreshment stand things at POP last time we were there. I'm so excited about our stay coming up. We also requested the 70's and I am hoping that we can get that. You are right though, it's no more than a five minute walk from any area I would think. You will love it!

I have really been watching the weather lately because I can finally see an "estimated" forecast of what the weather will be like Jan 8-12. My husband and I were there for our honeymoon last year Dec 29-Jan 6 and it was GREAT weather so I'm hoping for that again!

Fantastic thread, keep up the good work. We are booked for two weeks in the pop from August 18th 2005, does anybody know what the crowds are like this time of year at the pop, am I right in thinking that children in Florida go back to school this time? Also if we want to request a specfic building, I know thay are not guarenteed, but how far out should we do this and by what means, email, fax, phone etc.

Thanks for any info.

Hi!

The last couple of times we've gone in August it was still busy, but not like mid summer. It still has that festive summer feleing, althoiugh soemtiems the parks begin to close earlier during the time you'll be there - like 9 pm for MK. Not bad.

As for POP - I'd put in the request when you make the ressie and maybe call CRO to be sure it's in there correctly a few days before you arrive. Some people do like to fax the request but I'm not sure how much this really helps. Maybe Tyler can answer that one!

Have you booked a standard or preferred room? If standard, do you prefer to be in the action or in a quieter location? If quieter I'd request a lake view, 4th fl , otherwise courtyard or pool would be great. If you like seeing the icons then a pool or courtyard view for sure. 70's seems to have some nice courtyards and 50's has very nice lake and pool views.

Sounds like a nice long wonderful vacation! The longest I've ever stayed was 8 nights at CBR back in '95. Was too long for us, so after that trip we did 7 nights at a deluxe :)

Was just at the POP last month - 50's, 4th fl, lake view - terrific!!

Thanks Christine
For the quick reply, we have already booked this as a package deal from over here in the uk, so I would presume we are in a standard room, I dont really mind what building we are in but I would like to be on the 4th floor with prehaps a view of the illuminations or the lake, dont really mind.

Thanks for the info.

Sue

I have kind of a silly question for all you POP experts! If I wish to eat dinner in my room does the food court have take-out containers - or do I have to schlep it back to my room on one of those cafeteria trays??? I like the idea of coming back from a day at the parks, grabbing dinner, and crashing in my room - just wondering if take-out containers are a possibility - ??? Thanks for all the good info! :smooth:

Yes, they can put covers on all the plates making them easy to take out. I'm not sure if the food court part has bags, but you can get one from the merchandise part to make things easier, if you dont want to use a tray.

Most of the plates have a clear plastic cover (you have to ask for one when they serve the food) - sometimes it does not quite fit, but good enogh to get it back to the room. I still took the tray along to hold a drink, dessert etc.

Thank you so much for your prompt responses! I appreciate all I've learned and am soooooo excited about my trip the 1st week of February - woohoo! It's nice to know after go-go-going in the parks I can grab dinner and relax in my room - thanx!

Hi there,

I'm just wondering what the chances are for getting a king bed at Pop Century? There's a possibility that my sister's family might go with us in November, and they would be staying at Pop, so we would probably stay with them.

I would imagine I would just request a king bed?

Thanks for your help!

Just ask! :cool1:

You need to put your room preferences in priority order and have ethe info added to your reservation.

IE
1) Courtyard side
2) Close to Everything Pop
3) King Bed

Be sure to mention any medical conditions or connecting room requirements first. If you are a large family with small children you are at the top of the list for connecting rooms. Good thing is half the rooms at POP are connecting. Look at my flor layout for location of the King Bed rooms
