I am renting DH a scooter from Walker Mobility. Where do I pick that up once we get there and are the rooms big enough for us to drive it in there to plug into the wall to charge at night?
You can pick the scooter up where they store luggage to the right of the main entrance to the lobby where you check in. It is a bit tight to drive a scooter in a room with two beds, but it is doable. You may need to rearrange the table, etc. and driving it out can be a bit tricky. A room with a king size bed might work a little better.

Let Disney know in advance that you will have a scooter and request a first floor room. That will make life easier. Also, the angle that the door opens on some of the rooms can make it more difficult to drive a scooter in. If you find you have a problem with this after checking in, go back to the desk to explain the problem and see if you can get a different room assigned.

Well I have a possiblitly of going again this year of DD's third b-day. (I'm trying to convince DH. I would love to do Pop again, but depending on which day we go, it may not be available. So I have looked at 2 others, CBR, and ASMovies. But the one day Pop is open with preffered only and I'm thinking of taking it because the price is still cheaper than our last visit. If I do I want first floor, 60's poolside, near baby pool.
What do you think the chances are???? Frist floor is my biggest priority. I just like being on first floor. Secondly I would really like to stay in the 60's, and being poolside would just be fun to me. I know the noise could be louder, but if I need be I can get witchy and do some yelling. LOL! Do you think this is a popular request? To me if I am paying for preferred I want to be on the first floor poolside, but I know there is a chance I won't. But my other 2 requests are more important to me though.
I am getting all flustered thinking of possibley going again!:cloud9:

Hi, I'll be visiting POP for the first time in a couple of weeks. I've got our whole trip planned, and DH is really geeked about our itenirary (sp?). :thumbsup2 What he doesn't know is I've got a SECRET DAY OF SUPRISES for the 3rd day of the trip. :scared1: I'm declaring Thursday Sept. 13 to be International Schmoopy Day in his honor  , and we're going to do the Epcot Segway tour in the morning, and the Dinner with an Imagineer at Artist Point that evening! He has no clue. I've got a "fake" Passporter pocket for that day with plans written on it...and the "real" plans are safely tucked away.

So by now you're wondering what my question is, right?

Well, I'm trying to figure out how and when to reveal my secret. It will either be on Wednesday evening, or VERY EARLY on Thursday morning (since we need to be at Epcot by 8:15 am for our Segway tour). I'd love to have flowers delivered to the room, but it's just too expensive. So the question is: does the POP gift shop sell flowers? :flower3: If not, does anybody know of anywhere at DisneyWorld where I could buy a few stems to make a simple arrangement? In secret, of course. Or, any other ideas for springing this on him? Maybe breakfast in bed, if I can sneak out and get him a Mickey waffle...

Also if any of you have done either the Segway thing, or Dinner with an Imagineer, I'd love to hear about your experiences! popcorn::

Thanks in advance,
Mizliz

I surprised DH with the Segway tour two years ago.. We were staying at the Beach Club and I woke him up extra early the day of our tour. He thought we were just going to Epcot for the day, but I convinced him we could get in earlier since we were near the International Gateway entrance.

There were some other people there early as well, waiting for the Akerhaus breakfast, etc. I checked us in with the attending Cast Member (your names are written down on a list so they know to let you in early). At this point DH figured out something was up, but had no clue as to what.

We walked to Innoventions (where the inside lesson was held) and I told the waiting people in our group not to tell DH what was about to happen. When we went in and he saw the Segways lined up, he was stunned!:thumbsup2

The best thing about the surprise was that all week long, every time DH saw a CM on a Segway, he kept commenting on how awesome they seemed (the Segways, I mean  ). He had no idea at all that you could learn how to ride them there.

To this day, he talks about the Segway tour and wants to get one when he retires!!:woohoo: :cool1:

Depending on how knowledgeable he is about WDW, maybe you could convince him there is a special early entry that day at Epcot.... or secretly change your room clock and watches to an hour earlier to get you going on time? Even if he figures out something is up, you can still surprise him!!! Good luck!

Can we use our own swimming pool noodles and floaties in the pools at the Pop swimming pools? 32 more days and we will be in the pools there. :yay: :yay: :yay: :cheer2: :dance3:

So glad your hubby enjoyed his surprise! The tour sounds soooo cool! :goodvibes I like your idea about switching the clocks...though the truth is he's happy to just follow my schedule and doesn't often question it, knowing what a meticulous planner I am. I thought about secretly switching the Passporter pocket from the "fake" to the one with all of the surprises, then casually asking him in the morning to look something up for me in the book and check the day's schedule. The look on his face would be priceless!

Still would love to have flowers too, though. Anyone know if they're available at the gift shop?
:confused3

I can't help you with the flowers. I had them delivered from WDWflorist. One time at 1900 Park Faire my DD was given the flowers from the little centerpiece. But, I have never seen them sold in any shop.

I just wanted to invite you to the POP party at the pool that night, because I am sure we would all LOVE To hear about your day's adventures!!!! PLEASE come tell us all about it! Have a great time!:flower3:

I expect to check in before my room is ready. If I check my carry on with luggage services will they deliver it to my room or will I have to collect it when I get back to the resort that night? How late are they open, if I do have to collect it?

I have a general question not related to Pop. I'm sure there's someplace else to post it, but this is the only thread I read daily! :surfweb: Are strollers allowed on the busses & monorails? Not the umbrella ones, the bigger sized ones. I know they're not allowed on the train at the MK, and that got me thinking...TIA!!

Oooh! Oooh! A question I can answer instead of ask, for a change. Strollers can be rolled on and off the monorails (and a few boats) without having to remove the children or all their assorted gear. For the busses, you will have to remove the kids (and gear!) and fold up the strollers. If you're doing a lot of bussing, you may want to try to go smaller with the stroller, or at least minimize the gear. I've seen some people with some mighty big strollers, but if they can get all the stuff into one or two bags and fold up the stroller quickly, it's generally not a problem. Good luck, and welcome to the DIS!

AND, you may take your own stroller on the trains (MK and AK), as long as it can be folded up. You cannot take WDW rental strollers on the train.

Both times when at Pop, we've used our own floaties and noodles. Actually we had bought the noodles our trip to ASmo and have used them ever since!
You'll see many people with them, so no worries!;)

Hi all,

I'm planning my first solo to WDW (my third overall) and planning to stay at POP Oct 30 to Nov 6. I was wondering how crowded the resort will be at that time. Also, I'm not to sure which building I would prefer to stay in (maybe one of the quieter one, i do like my sleep), so any input would be welcomed.

Thanks

OMG! I am at Pop from Oct 30th-Nov 6th too!

OMGosh...I can't believe that in 10 days we are checking back into POP. This time with a 1 year old. I must be nuts for doing the 20 hour plus drive to want to take her there.

Anyways...can anyone remember what time the food court closes at cause I need to warm up a bottle of milk for the baby's last call late at night in the microwave before they close. I wonder if I was extreamly stuck at 2 in the morning if the front desk could warm it up for me in the staff microwave.

Thanks for your help....
Lannah

Very early in this thread the safe was mentioned as able to fit "a standard laptop"

Does anyone have actual dimensions of the safe?
OR
If I call the POP desk will they be able to supply it? (without just reiiterating that it holds a "standard laptop").

I swear I own the biggest, thickest, heaviest laptop dinosaur created and still kicking, so would rather not lug it unless it fits.

Thanks to all who organized this thread - extrememly helpful. :thumbsup2

The safes look small when you first open them but you'd be surprised at how much then can fit. I was able to fit an older, larger Dell laptop in the safe with enough room for two wallets. The laptop was a little longer and a little thicker than a 5 subject notebook.
