we've done the deluxe thing and can't get out of the POP rut we are in we like it so much! we've been staying there since they opened and now we keep going back! haaah! we have even booked deluxes b4 and then switched to POP again! My kids love love love it! (DD is 2 DS is 1) they can't get enough of the POP jets, the kiddie pool, the playground! everything! they love to walk around and take pics with all the giant icons too! Esp. love to play Twister! haahah!

The foodcourt is GREAT! i like it better than POR & POFQ & CBR! We also love the bus system and the CMs are number 1 for us!!!

So you like it then ;)! As far as I'm concerned, I say ditto what DisneyMommy said :thumbsup2 !

Me again :)

My DH and I are taking our 3-year-old daughter to WDW in June... tell me why we will LOVE POP!! :)

POP is fun and has bright colors, large icons, cool pools, but it's also fun for us bigger kids too. We stayed at POR 2 couple of years ago, and it was nice and had beautiful landscaping. It just doesn't seem as inviting for kids. Lots of walking everything was spread out. So the next year we decided to save money and try POP. So glad we did. It's a newer resort and our room was cleaner and newer than POR. Also everything was centrally located and compact. So even from the farthest room to the central hub(check in,buses, gift shop and food court) it was only at the most 6-7 minute walk. Buses run very effeciently there and they only do POP. No stopping at other resorts.

Our kids thought it was great to try different pools and the Goofy pop jets. Food at their food court was really good. I didn't have high expectations and was very surprised. We can't wait to go again.:woohoo:

hahhah :) YUP! it's wierd how much we keep going back :)

Dh & I went first as Bf/GF right when they opened
Then we went engaged for site checks for our wedding a couple times
Then we went for our wedding
Then we went with our DD & pregnant with DS
Then we went with DD & DS
Now we are going with DD & DS & my father AND pregnant!
Next year :faint: :faint:

Then we will finally have to start checking other places out as we will have many in our party :)

But even DH says we will just get 2 rooms at POP so we don't have to leave! hahah!

All this positive talk about POP has been so helpful for me!! The last time we were in Disney was 2003 and we stayed at AKL Savannah view. We LOVED it but in order to afford this trip, we really needed to stay value this time. I have been a little concerned (secretly) I tell the kids all the positives and tell them how much they are going to love POP so I have been praying they will!!!

We paid for a preferred room and I requested the 60's building, non smoking room facing the pool. Hopefully we will get that :goodvibes

   29 more days to go for us !!

We only decided to take a trip to WDW two weeks ago and it has been a whirlwind. We finally paid off all the credit cards after my husband was unemployed for over a year after 9/11 (he worked in NYC). It has been a long time since we could do "normal" family things like vacations - last year we rented a house with two other families in the Adirondacks and that was great.

Anyway, we never thought we would get to go to WDW but, with the value resorts, we realized we could do it.:cool1: I am so glad we chose Pop after reading all the reviews. We'll be there 4/22-4/28 and reserved a preferred room. One question I have is - would a lake view room on an upper floor be the quietest? If so, I will call and request it - I have already requested a non-smoking, not near any smoking rooms, room because of asthma. I really value my sleep and want to be able to take naps in the afternoon. Our kids are 12 and 9 so we don't need to be really close to the pool. What do you think?

We will be taking a taxi from the Kissimmee train station and my husband would like to stop to get some beer and wine on the way - what would be the best place to stop? We were planning to place a food/snack order from Amazon.com and have it shipped to the hotel - has anyone else done this?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated by this newbie!!!

Thanks:yay:

I think, that if you are wanting quiet, lake view, then there is no point to the Preferred room, because they cost more to be nearer to the main bldg, which you will not be with a lake view.

I think you could save the $ and ask for lakeview, quiet, closest to main bldg instead of preferred.

I am not even sure if the back of the 60's is still preferred. So you might be asking to pay more for a standard room.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

we've requested quiet with lakeview, any building - been there before (60s building) - really like the theming, but especially the walkway along the lake - very peaceful early in the morning and at night - probably my favorite resort (next to CR, but can't afford that one this trip coming...)

I just looked at a map of Pop Century and I see the area in the 60s building that overlooks the lake. I'll send a fax and request a lakeview on an upper floor.

Hello :)

We are staying in POP the first week in June. I have a question about the refrigerators for medical use - what are the requirements? My husband has type 1 diabetes and needs to keep insulin cool (doesn't have to be refrigerated but needs to stay below a certain temperature). I'm wondering if that would qualify for the refrigerator. What do you think?

If so, how do we get one? Is it the size of a regular mini-fridge?

Thanks!
bookworm2

I will cover this question since the "why do you love POP" question has been covered so well. :goodvibes

I have medication that must be refrigerated. You need to add the refrigerator request to your ressie and make sure it is noted that it is medically necessary. A note from your doctor isn't required. I have been told that if a refrigerator isn't available, they can hold it for you at the front desk. So far, that hasn't happened to me.

Make sure you bring the medicion in its prescription box/bottle that shows Refrigeration Necessary (it is on my box) - just in case. Also you can request a sharps container from housekeeping (mention this at check-in).

Lastly, please be aware that the refrigerator may be warm when it is placed in your room and it can take several hours for it to reach a temperature that it acceptably cold enough for your medication. I didn't think of that the first time we traveled and have to use some ice in my small travel cooler until the refrigerator was cool enough. Now I put 3-4 ice packs in my cooler for the flight/check-in process.

Watch the placement of your medication in the refrigerator. My medication is in a rectangular box and the logical perfect spot is to tuck it under the small freezer BUT things can freeze there. Just an FYI.

Have a great time at POP!

We were thinking about POR but then we said, heck POP is perfect. It's great fun and the rooms are about the same size. Why change and with the money we saved we paid for the dining plan. I love the POP. Why can't June hurry up and get here?

Am I ready it correct that is rained on May 10 - 13 last year?

It looks like it from the screen. Please note the location of that particular weather station though. I know we have had trips were it is pouring at our resort and clear as a bell in a park. This could be the case here as well, if you are thinking that it didn't rain on that day. There are a lot of different weather stations in the Lake Buena Vista area and I just picked one for the link. Sorry for any confusion.

Of course, for me, it could be a massive downpour at night and I would never notice because I am so tired from a day in the parks! LOL!

Hi, new to this thread. Probably going to POP in Sept. Had a ? about the building #s

Facing hippy dippy pool from classic hall are the 60s buildings. The room numbers to the one on the left are 5101-5472 and the one on the right are 4101-4472 so, would these be buildings 5 and 6?

I think I want to request to be in front of the goofy jets but not sure how to word it.

If anyone else has a good suggestion for us we will be 2 adults and one 23 month old traveling with friends that will also have a 23 month old. I want to be as close to the buses as possible. There is only the bus stop in front of classic hall, correct?

TIA!

This picture was taken from the 70s section building #10. My room was on the backside of the building, 4th floor, room #0456 which is 4 doors down from the end stairwell near the Goofy Jets.

I was looking at the Pop breakfast menu here
allearsnet.com/menu/menu_popb.htm

In looking at the prices, there are quite a few things that are under $4.00. Will these count as a snack? I have heard that now it is anything under $4.00 but haven't seen it anywhere official. We could get scrambled eggs, or grits, or oatmeal for $2.49-$2.59 and that would be a great breakfast for us.

Thanks:)

 Hey Michele... We checked out deluxes that would accomadate 5 and 2 rooms at Pop was cheaper not to mention 2 bathrooms. Haven't even been to Pop and LOVE it!!

I think my friend got oatmeal at POFQ last year on a snack credit. I'm sure it would be the same at POP. I know you can get a bowl of cereal and milk for snack credit. I think there is a post over on the dining board about things folks have gotten for a snack credit.

Maybe they will finish up the other side of Pop with suites before you need one in 3 1/2 years. I would love that!
