Tell ya' what to do...in my family we have the following that we take on vacation. 4 IPODS, 2 Nintendo DS's, 1 PSP, speakers, battery charger, video camera, 4 cell phones. We started using a power strip. While we still have to move things around but it works great. We use it camping too, lol.

I made a List of everything we are going take....I can't believe all the electronics we are taking. :) It's unbelievable! :lmao: My son wants to take is DVD portable, I said no if we are flying, his game stuff should be good enough...LOL...

You made a good point, never thought of it....I need to take a power strip...:thumbsup2 Another thing for my list!:)

I was wondering, I made reservations for this hotel, but neglected to mention we want a non-smoking room. Do we have to mention that, or would they automatically give us one?

You should call and request this because more than likely you will be assigned a smoking room. I also learned that if anyone in your family has allergies, or is allergic to smoke, you have to be given a non-smoking room; however they want a signed doctor's note as it is not guaranteed without it. The gentleman I also spoke with at 407-WDI-SNEY said that if you had an inhaler, bring it with you and show it to them at the front desk, that will pass for a 'doctor's note'.

:wave2: Just to say a quick Hi!!:wave2: We're staying at the Pop from September 3rd for our first ever WDW holiday. Soooo excited! Just wish I could get involved in a fridge swap as it is such a good idea!

Check the Budget Board for Pop fridge swaps.

Coke Slushies:cool1: We're going to stay at POP May 18-20 then off to BCV for 5 days, however based on the Coke Slushie situation I may cancel BCV and book those days at POP instead:rotfl:

If I was staying at BCV I could "suffer" with having to purchase my Frozen Coke at the parks.:rotfl: I'm sure you'll love BCV!!! You'll be at BCV for my DD's 8th birthday (5/22)-she was at Pop for her 7th-a very magical trip!

Yeah, suppose I'll have to tough it out !

Can't wait, will be our first trip as a family and first time back at WDW in 6 years for DW and myself.

I'm glad I could help. The power strip thing is a God send. It takes up so little room and I don't ending up killing one of my sons for disconnecting my IPOD before it's charged :rolleyes1

Yes. We sctually had 2 power stips on our las trip to the beach. We had a traveling Circuit City in the trunk. Here's our rundown....

Thanks for the tip on the inhaler as proof of asthma, all 3 kids have them, So we are guaranteed a non smoking room 3 times over. Which is good as we have 2 rooms!!

Thinking of starting another fridge swap if we can get enough interest. If you're interested, come and log on here and leave your dates and I'll get back to you!:thumbsup2

I will have to see about getting my doctor to write a note or something regarding my breathing issues with smoke. I don't use an inhaler all the time, but I do definitely have breathing issues which will once in a while require visiting the doctor and getting a script. Cigarette smoke is one of my major issues. How often does it happen where you make the non smoking request at your reservation (for me, 4 months out) and not get it. I don't even mind having to wait, if our assigned room is ready but smoking, if there's a non smoking one later in the day. (We get there pretty early.)

I thin kthe majority of rooms is non smoking from what we were told. We origionally were going to get a smoking and then I decided not to, since DH would never actaully smoke in the room anyways. The CM kept saying we could only be in the 80's or 90's area for smoking rooms, and I had to tell her over and over I didn't want a smoking room anymore.

about those hair dryers, are they of decent strength? i have long hair on the thick side and if i want to wear my hair straight, i must have a hair dryer that's not wimpy. i know some hotels' hair dryers barely blow air out. are the ones at pop fairly strong?

The blow dryers are very wimpoy! If you want something with strength, bring your own.
I went with a half wet head msot days, but i didn't mind. But if I wanted to my hair right, it would've needed a better dryer.

I have a few questions. This is my first visit since 1979. My DH,DS(7), and DD have never been. I am sooooo excited. We are staying at POP. Any suggestions about strollers, rent or bring our own? We will be going 4/15-4/24. Anyone familiar with the crowd size this time of year? Anyone have room number from 50's building they would suggest. I know I would like 4th floor with fireworks view. Thanks for all your help.:yay:

Iwould bring my own. Even though my DD2 didn't stay in it a whole lot, it was great to keep the bafg in. We had to bring diapers, extra clothes and all the other "needs" and the stoller was great for that. Disney strollers bascially had no storage, except for a few small nets on the back. You could rent a double stroller and place the stuff next to your child if you want though.
I think it is going to be extremely crowded while you are there. We just got back yesterday. We hit the Mk on Tues and it was really packed then. We rode next to nothg all day as all lines were at least 45 minutes or longer.(toontown wasn't too bad though) We watched the parades and fireworks and then instead of heading to the front like most did, we went and hit a few rides. All were walk on at that point. We rode several things in the last 45 minutes of the park being open. We also did MK on Sunday night for the extra Magical hours. We arrived about 8, when the parade just started. It was a zoo! So crowded. We followed the parade up mainstreet ,and headed of to tomorrowland and got something to eat. We hit a few rides there, and by 11 the park was really empty. The park was open till 2 AM. For the resort guests, and we stayed till 1. We rode a ton of rides then with very little wait as well.
We were at AK on Wed and that too was pretty packed. You will be there around Easter ,which is the most busy time of the year. I would try to hit the parks in the later hours or the Extra Magical hours if possible. That seemed to be our best bet.
The 60's buildings are really close to the baby pool, if that is an interest.

Just so you know, just left POP, the CM's at the front desk seemed none to thrilled abt these swaps! One said it takes up so much room, etc. Also, said management was in talks abt stopping it :{...Then again, this is just one CM talking at 4 am!!!

you make me feel so much better:) . I don't feel like I am totally stupid taking all this stuff:lmao:.

I just got back yesterday. Here are my thoughts on POP!
I loved the hotel. Really nice and fun, and full of spirit!
People always say the food court and gift shop are together, but I don't see it that way. you can go through the gift shop to get to the food court, but they are divided. There are also seperate doors from outside to enter the food court as well.
Each room does have a safe, lots of power outlets, an iron and board,& a retractable clothes line in the shower. The beds were really comfy. I have a really bad back and most hotels leave me barely walking, and these beds were just great.
We had a short stay, but I rarely used the food court. DH got coofee each morning, and I got some juice and milk for DD and me, but we never had a meal except our departure day breakfast. It was good to.
The theming is terrific! The pools nice. DH took DD2 in the hippy dippy pool and the baby pool. She loved it.
If you are celebrating a birthday or it's a first trip, go up to the conseirge desk and the ycan give you a button that says that. We got DD a first trip button and she loves it and paniced when DH took it off her and left it in the car.

The buses are busy! At least when we went. The pop bus lines at each park were always the longest ones. Some were empty alot, but Pop always had a bus load every time, any time of the day. We usually had to wait for 2 or 3 buses to come before we made it on to get to the parks each day. Only one day did I make it on the first bus. We usually stood on the bus alot too. I wasn't all that impressed with the system, but it beat getting lost each time you drove to a place. I also, for some reason though the buses would have special roads to get them to the parks faster. Nope! They take the highways just like everyone else. We drove to DTD, and would suggest that to anyone. It isn't far from POP, and it looked like the bus stop was a ways away from the market place area.

We got to Pop around 7 PM and I thought our CM was a little on the unfriendly side too. She seemed to be faking the politeness, and I asked to change from a smoking room to non smoking and it seems liked she was flustered by that. I also asked for the gift card we were to have on arrival, and she said she had no clue what i was talking about. I said, well how do I find out, and she just walked away and then came back with an envelope with a voucher thing in it. No explanaiton on what to do with it. I found out later after trying to use it at the park that you have to take it to you resort gift shop and have it turned into a gift card.

I am so glad you had a wonderful trip!:) and also enjoy your time at POP.:yay:

I never knew about the button. We are celebrating my son birthday. I have to keep that on my mind.
Are you going to write a trip report? I would love to read it!:)

I'm not sure if I will write a report or not. I never read any before, I probably should've before I went though! I just had so mcu hto do and so little time!
