You can ask for late check out the day before your departure - I've been able to check out at 1:00 which is the latest, cuz then they start charging you daily charges. The food court opens at 6 a.m. - stick around until 8 a.m. to watch the CMs do 'The Twist'! I've always had my bags on my person when I check in, so can't answer your Magical Express question. Sorry.
Thanks!

I am flyiing with Virgin, on the last day I will be doing the downtown disney check in, getting rid of my luggage. Is there anywhere I can leave the handluggage at Pop Century untnil I catch the magic express back to the airport?

Goofy4, thanks for the response. I doubt we'll be in our room at fireworks time either, so I'll just let the chips fall where they may...thanks a bunch!

Just check it in with the luggage section located on the side of the food court by the 50's bldg. They will hold it there for your return :thumbsup2

Well this is what I got from this particular CM. He said all of the 60's section and the wings closest to Everything Pop in the 70's and 50's are preferred. I was on the understanding that only part of the 60's was still preferred. I guess I'll find out for sure in Aug. Just thought I'd let everyone know what they said.

Thanks, I am calling tommorrow to ask for a non-preferred 60's room. ;)

Thanks will do that.

Couple comments.

One, the coffee, which is Nescafe (which is a Coke product), is not fresh ground coffee. That is why it taste, bland. It is drinkable, least for me, but that is because I put cream and sugar. But it definitely is not Starbucks :sad2: .

Another is the fireworks. On my last trip in March I was put in the 50's section, building 2, 4th floor, end room (can't remember the number). Every night I was able to watch the fireworks at Epcot. Noise was at a minimum. When I checked in they said they put me there because it has less foot traffic, kids etc. Nice view of the lake when you stepped out and stood at the corner. Now if they would just DO something with the buildings on the other side :confused3

Just back from POP. Here is a mini trip report.

We had requested the 50's section because that is where we stayed last year and loved it. But we also threw in that we would stay anywhere but didn't want the 70's. Nothing wrong with the section. I am just not a fan of the decade. I was born in the 70's so please don't flame me. Just not a fan of Disco or Bellbottoms or any of it. Well, we received the 70's so I started off somewhat disappointed. Turned out to be pretty good though. We were in Building 10 on the first floor facing the 90's section. Very quite!

On my last day there, I tried to do the unthinkable. I hit all 4 parks in one day. I started to get a little worried as I was dependant on the bus for my first two stops and I knew what I had read about the dependability of it but I tried nevertheless. From the time I got in line to the time I reached MGM (my first stop) was just under 20 minutes. I was happy with that. Then, when I left to go to AK, it took me about 15 minutes. We were doing good. Well, when I left AK to head back to POP, they had to go by Blizzard Beach for a pickup and got stopped by the redlights twice. The bus driver, James, was great though. He kept everyone entertained with tidbits and facts so they wouldn't be thinking about how long they were on the bus. He did a real good job.

I was also able to go up to the Conceirge and get lunch reservations for the same day at Mama Melrose's Italiano Restaurante in MGM. We were hoping to be able to get Sci-Fi but they were already booked. Turned out really good.

I really love POP and have for a long time now. I have recommended it to several people as a possible destination for them on their vacations. Not to anger anyone though, we are looking at staying at one of the Mods for our next trip. We are looking at doing a solo trip (No Kids!) and just want to have something a little more romantic. POP is a great place. Expecially if you have children but for this one trip, if I can get into a mod, I am going to go for it. Right now, it is between CSR or Post Orleans - French Quarter.

I want to thank everyone at POP that has been a great asset in helping my family and myself have a wonderful vacation for the last 2 years. :thumbsup2

Let us know what they say. I was under the impression that some of it isn't preferred now, but the CM said all of it still was. Who know's.

I think most DisneyWorld coffee is Nescafe....they may be sponsers but man oh man make a lousy cuppa joe. I read that there is a cappucino machine in the pop food court tho.

However, I like my morning cup of coffee BEFORE I get dressed.
so I guess I will pack my little coffee pot and bring my Starbucks.
A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

Thanks for the responses. :goodvibes

Yuk! :crazy2: That describes the coffee at POP. I brought a small coffee maker and my Starbucks with me. I dont' know what I would have done without it. I also used bottled water to make the coffee. :coffee:

I had a hard time finding a good cup anywhere in the World. Try France and Moracco in Epcot. Also The Dolphin served Starbucks. And I think there was a place in Animal Kingdom, which wasn't too bad.

I bring my own coffee for the room ;) , I'm needing to wake up and their coffee doesn't do it for me :rolleyes1

Hi! The DH and I will be staying at the POFQ :joker: in Dec - if you can remember to ask me about it then. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about staying there. :woohoo:

Yuk Ilove my coffee Do they have tea available with the refillable mugs Yes a Brit who prefers coffee but as I recall English coffee was Nescafe!! I was told the buses start running 45 mins before park opens , so if M>K> opened at 8 they would start to run aat 7:15 At least that,s what a CM I spoke to at Pop said.

I believe the buses start running a minimum of 1 hour before the park opens. We always catch the bus at that time.

There are regular tea bags by the beverage stations, along with hot chocolate packets.

Haven't had time to read all 157 pages of this Pop Thread so forgive me if it's been asked/answered many times but what's happened to the 2nd part of Pop Century Hotel - the first half of the 20th century? We stayed in the '50's section in October of '04 & I saw they were partially completed but I never saw them working on it for the 2 weeks we were there. Did they have to scrap the plans for some reason?

...when you go to the park? I love the idea of the refillable mugs, as my hubby and I are coffee hounds (I bet we will even survive the Nescafe, if we have no choice). But if you stop at everything Pop for coffee (or any other drink) in the morning, do you then have someone run all your mugs back to the room? Or do you lug them into the parks with you? How big are they? Can you fit a couple in a regular backpack, and still have room for your other "stuff"? Just trying to plan :confused3

They aren't all that huge, but we have tended to run back to the room after breakfast at the food court to drop them off and pick up our park gear. You wouldnt have a need for them at the parks, so for us it was worth the 10 mins to drop them and be able to travel the parks a tad lighter.

If we were having breakfast someplace other than the resort, my father would get up early and go get a cup of coffee or something while we were getting ready, then he'd leave the mug at the room.

We are staying at POP for the first time this Sept, can't wait.

Andy

We just leave our mugs in the cup holders of the rental car when we get to the park. :)
But seriously, I've seen a lot of people slip the handle of the mugs over their stroller handle or clip them on their backpack with one of those climbers clip things ( I don't know the official term).
If your backpack isn't filled with sweatshirts and ponchos you shouldn't have any problem fitting the mugs in.

OMG, I think that's the first time I've been involved in a mug debate. :rolleyes1

When I was there in May they had a hot chocolate machine.

I tried the coffee one morning but I couldn't drink it. I switch to frozen coke for my morning caffine.
