Note: I was just there and I'm still confused over which rooms (other than the 60's) are preferred (haven't been following the thread real close)

Were all of the 60's preferred? That was what I was told by the CM that all of the 60's was still preferred and the parts closest to Classic Hall in the 50's and 70's. Thanks!

We just returned last night from a week's stay at Pop. It was our first trip to WDW. We were in room 4314, which was considered a preferred room and in the 60's building. IMO, it was not worth the extra money we paid for preferred. We were toward the end of building 4 on the 3rd floor, so we had to walk to the middle of the building to get to the elevator, go up 3 floors and then all the way around to the back side of the building. It would have been nearly just as close to be in one of the other buildings not considered preferred and not have had to pay the extra money.

we have just changed to staying at the pop, in a preffered room (were staying at contemporary) the trips paid lol (deposit for contemp covered full stay at pop)

so question is we ahve booked a preffeered room, whats this mean lol. also can I request a fridge? and if so how?

You can request a fridge rental. Runs about $12 a day. If a member of your party needs a handicapped room (one king bed only) it's included at no extra charge.

We were at POP last October, in a king-bed handicapped room (this is just where we were placed, we did not request a handicapped room), and we didn't have a fridge. Is this something new?

To clarify, if a refrigerator is needed for medical reasons, then it is provided at no charge. It is not automatically included with the handicapped room.

mushumadness, a preferred room means you will be in a room that is 'preferred' or closer to Classic Hall which is in parts of the 50s, 60s and 70s. (There is a map at the beginning of this thread if you want to see where those buildings are located).

You can request a refrigerator by calling back CRO and adding it to your reservation. There is a per day charge.

Or, you can just fill one of the wastebaskets with ice and use it as your fridge! Saves ya the bucks... :thumbsup2

This works great for those who are not storing a lot of perishables, we use it for soda all the time when we do not have a refridge in a hotel room.... :sunny:

Just found out about the Airline Check In and Luggage transfer from the resorts even you are NOT using ME. We are renting a car and bringing our luggage with us when we arrive so we have it right away, but want to check our luggage and check in for our flight on the return flight (Our airline is participating). Can anyone tell me a bit more about this at POP, such as what hours is the Conceirge desk open to do this? Should we plan on a long line there checking in, even on a non holiday day? Would like to hear feedback from those who are non ME who checked in luggage at POP previously..thanks so much..... :sunny:

Q: Will Pop Century have Bell Services?
Upon arrival, Pop Century will offer Luggage Assistance for our guests. Not to be confused with "Bell Services" found at Deluxe resorts, Luggage Assistance will take your luggage, and store it while you enter the lobby and check in. Your luggage will then be automatically delivered to your room within an hour of it becoming available. You do not need to be in the room for luggage to be delivered, so you can go off and play in the parks. When you get back, your luggage will already be there. We will have refrigerators for food and medical usage. (All food *MUST* be factory sealed) We will also have a locked area for valuables such as laptops, cameras, and other electronics.

When checking out, we can come and pick up your luggage, and store it until you are ready to depart. We do ask that you give us a call the night before, to arrange a pick up time. If you call day of, we may not have any availability left. We require a minimum of one hours notice. Those of you who opt for Express Checkout will receive a voice mail reminding you of this option, as well as other Express Checkout info. By the way, the voice of Express Checkout is the same voice that does the Monorail Spiel.

You do not need to be in your room for drop off or pick up.

Should you wish to handle your own luggage, we offer the use of our hand carts. (Not the "bird cages," but push carts) Usage of the carts is free, however, we will require a credit card on file, should you decide to take one home as a souvenir. We also do ask that guests limit cart usage to 30 minutes, so that other guests may use them as well.

Is this still accurate information about the bell services at Pop?

Well, if you'll accept a response from someone who hasn't used DME for return-luggage-only but knows...
The Lobby Concierge has absolutely nothing to do with DME. There is a counter outside the front entrance to the right for both Luggage Assistance and Remote Airline Checkin.
Since you're flying home on a participating airline, you can simply check in at the RAC counter at least three but no more than twelve hours before your flight, and check your luggage through to your destination. The counter hours are 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
You need to have all members of your party there and all your luggage, and IDs for anyone of an age where an ID would be required at airport checkin. You do NOT need to board a bus back to the airport or, I think, even make arrangements in advance.

Note that if your flight leaves before 8:30 AM, you will not be able to check your luggage in at Pop, since there won't be that three hour window.

How any minutes, or approximately how much time, should we factor in when eating at the food court in the morning for breakfast? We are staying at POP from 10/28-11/04 and will be at the food court around 7:30am-8:00am. Just curious how busy or crowded it will be.
TIA!

Is anyone else booked, at Pop, for Jan.07, if so, what is your nightly rate? I've reserved a standard room for Jan.8-14th, and got a quote of $91. per night (that includes tax, etc..). The reservationist said that the $77. rate is not going to be offered in 2007. Just curious.

Assuming you get all your food from one "counter", you can be at your table in less than 15 minutes. Add more time if you have to stand in multiple lines. That was in the beginning of June, quite a bit busier, I think than your trip dates.

We never waited very long at Pop for food- we did have to split up to get foods from different "counters" though without adding that wait time.

It also depends on your breakfast needs- will a donut suffice if you add hot cocoa or coffee? Then you'll be in and out much more quickly. If you need a hot breakfast, figure 15 minutes until you are eating.

Yes. I can not sing the praises of luggage services enough! It saved us lots of time on our last day. We arranged for them to pick up our luggage at 8am and when we returned from the parks for DME at 3, our luggage was waiting for us. It was so easy!

Monte: We'll be there January 21st with a standard room for 2. Confirmed price with tax was $91.43 per night. Can't wait!!

Oh, I don't want to bring it back, I just want to be able to use it at home without spilling. My :cat: likes to tip over cups and/or put her paw in them :sad2: Can't have that happening :)

My cat does that too! She also steals the straw out of my mug while I have my head turned looking at the DIS!

how do you get from pop to the miniature golf places? winter summerland and fantasia?

The bus to Blizzard Beach will take you to Winter summerland. I'm not sure about Fantasia. Ask at the concierge desk, they'll be happy to help.

I'm pretty sure that one of those two shares a bus with one of the water parks, I want to say Blizzard Beach. I also want to say that there is one within walking distance of the Swan. Sorry I can't be more helpful :guilty:

PS- Where was that gorgeous picture in your signature taken?? How beautiful!
