When I called a couple of days ago to book my room only rate at POP, the guy told me me that only 60's was preffered. So I asked for the 50 or's 70's certain bulidings I don't rember, but I read somewhere which bulidings where best.

Sorry but I think he was wrong. I believe as of May 1 Some of the 50's 60's and 70's are now preferred.

That bites!!! That leaves what only the 80 and 90? I think that ridiculous! Well if thats right they will have to upgrade many ppl for free because thats just not enough rooms for standard.. I wouldnt pay for preferred in a value.. and I normally stay in values..

BlueJasmine,
It's my understanding that it's some rooms in "each of those buildings" that are preferred. Not all in each of the buildings. There are still standard rooms now in all buildings including the 60's building that was originally ALL Preferred. I hope that makes sense.

Question. When arriving I have to pay my room balance. Online, I was only able to pay for one of the four nights. Am I able to pay the additional balance with cash when I arrive? Or should it be done through credit?

POP does not have an exercise/fitness center.

I don't see why you couldn't pay for the balance of your room in cash. We have used Travelers Checks on numerous occasions. When you do check-in, if you want the ability to use your room key to charge purchases to your room account, you will need to show a credit card.

I think a lot has to do with the time of day you arrive and how booked they are on that day. We arrived on Friday night 5/19 at about 10pm. They were booked and the only request we received was non-smoking.
I had asked for 70's, lakeview, top floor:

No 70's. :worried:
Ok, what about lakeview? I'll go check. No. :sad1:
Ok, what about top floor anywhere? I'll go check. No, very sorry. :sad2:

So we ended up on 2nd floor in 90's building with a "garden view" (parking lot). :moped: :flower2:
They said we could check into moving the next day when people checked out, but we were ready to play the next day, not move! :stitch2:

I too checked in on 5/19 but about 2pm. I was able to tell them exactly what I wanted. 50's lake side, 4th floor, near food court.

I have a perferred room, and I asked for the 4th floor. :) I am so excited to go to Pop

Question. I am planning everything as we speak. What time would you suggest I wait in line to catch a bus to the Park I would like to attend at opening?

I have done it that way. When you check in, you pay balance, why wouldn't they take cash? I never get room key charge, it just room key. I had AP's and those were seperate too.

Awesome. I am new to the resots, which is why I was asking.

No problem. Ask away! I was once in your shoes too as we all were. I stayed 2 10 day trips at POP, so ask away.

DisneyFan06 -
What works for my family (we like to be there at opening) is to be at the bus stop at 8 am for MK and AK, and around 8:15 am for Epcot and MGM. Yes - I know you will have to wait at the park once you get there, but you will be at the front of the line and will have a seat on the bus. This schedule has worked for us every trip! Enjoy!

Hi. I have a question as well. I heard that the preferred buildings are different now. We stayed in the 80s last year, and while it wasn't horrible, we definitely want to stay in the 60s this time. If we pay the extra $ for preferred, what buildings could we be put in? Thanks. We are checking in late at night, if that helps.

It appears that you will be in the closer (to Classic Hall) portions of the 50s, 60s and 70s when paying for a preferred room.

Which Building can see illuminations,50's ? Is that considered preferred?

Gosh.....don't know, POP or ALL Star Movies????

We were in Building C, fourth floor overlooking the lake. We could watch from there and it wasn't preferred last summer. WE are hoping that it hasn't been changed.

That's cool, I never even knew you could see Illuminations from Pop Century! But for us it wouldn't be worth the extra $$$ since we're never back at our hotel that early in the evening. We watch Illuminations from Epcot. But it's still neat.

...Just curious: I stayed at the Pop Century last year and loved it. The thing I liked most was the room we got. So, as usual, I took a picture of the room # we had for future reference. Well, that came in handy as now I am planning our next trip.
Does anyone know if you can call guest services and request a specific room? I don't even care if that's paticular room, just any of those rooms in that immediate vicinity would be perfect!
