I have a trip planned for Pop Century for 7/11 through 7/27. This is my first time at Pop Century or ever staying on Disney property.
When I made my reservations in February, I requested a refrigerator and I was told that it was $10.00 a night. I need the refrigerator because we are planning on eating breakfast in the room and bringing sandwiches with us to the parks for lunch or to eat around the pool on a non-park day.
I just found out that my nephew will be having his tonsils taken out right before we go to Disney. He will be on an antibiotic for 10 days after his tonsils are out. Almost all of his antibiotics that he has been on have to be refrigerated.
I read somewhere on this post that if you need a refrigerator for medical reasons that there is no charge. Would they consider refrigeration of an antibiotic a medical reason if I show them the antibiotic? Do I need to get a note from the doctor or just showing them the antibiotic be enough? Since we have a medical reason now, would they just not charge for it since I had already requested a frig?
If they give me the refrigerator for my nephew's medicine, do I need the other frig for milk and coldcuts or can I fit these things into the medical frig also? Someone said on one of the posts that the medical refrigerator is smaller and another person said that the medical frig is the same size as the one that you pay $10 for.
Has someone stayed recently with a medical reason for a refrigerator without cost - are the refrigerators actually the same size or is it the luck of the draw?
If the medical refrigerator is definitely smaller then I'll just pay the $10 the way I was first planning to and store my nephew's medicine along with everything else that I was getting the refrigerator for.
Disney should just start putting refrigerators in all their rooms without an additional charge especially since they are raising the prices at the values in 2007. It doesn't seem fair that you can get an offsite hotel, even at $50 a night, with a refrigerator and a microwave - most without any additional charges but Disney charges or will charge $110 a night for a standard room in 2007 and it doesn't even have a frig. By that time everyone should just go to
Walmart and by a $60 frig and leave it in the hotel when you leave.
I really don't want to stay offsite since I really want my nephew to have a Disney magical vacation, a break in the afternoon by the pool for a swim, and I can't do that offsite since I don't drive. If I was able to drive I would go to Walmart and buy a refrigerator and then just leave it in the room, but with the price of the frig and the cost of a cab both ways from Pop to Walmart, I won't save that much.
Thanks for any info on the medical frig you can supply.
