This is just my opinion on room requests. I have stayed at Pop 4 times now and have always had requests on my reservation. I have tried a combo of faxing and calling. I feel that both are seen as an annoyance. Sadly, I have never been lucky enough to get my requests met when I checked in even when I did a request all three ways. What I have found best is when checking in ask if they were able to accomodate your requests on your reservation and ask what section of rooms you are in. If the room is not ready they will not give you an actual room number. If the section is not what you wanted ask politely if they will see if there is anything available in the section you want. I have gotten responses from the check in CM's that vary from helpful and trying to see what else is available to not wanting to be bothered and telling me nothing else is available and I have to take what I have. With the later I went to guest services where they helped find a room where I requested but I had to check back out and back in the next day to get it. Just keep in mind that you won't always get what you want no matter how you ask but you still can ask politely to be moved when something opens where you did request.

This is excellent advice!

We also have never gotten our request via advance requests (on the reservation,no fax), but have always had a room in the area we requested by nicely/politely asking at check-in again. We have even had room numbers in a variety of areas at check-in to make it easier for the CM to see if one of those rooms might be available - we've gotten mostly helpful CM's (a few just do not want to look) and when we asked they did say it made their job easier when guests are willing to work with them and have some flexibility.

Have a great stay!!:)

thanks =)* i will call her tomorrow
Definitely have AAA add it to your original ressie! And put your 1st request and 2nd request that way if say you really want 60's but wouldnt mind 50's then if they cant give you 60's you may get 50's! Thats what I always do and so far Thank gosh it worked! I also faxed prior to arriving as a reminder. I made my fax very friendly and basically said I understand that this is a very busy time but if any of my requests could be accomadated it would be greatly appreciated and liste my requests and thanked them in advance! We requested 50's section ground floor pool view and that is exactly what we got our second request was 60's lakeview.(since we had a standard room!) we are bouncing back and this time as a first i requested 60's ground floor poolview or 70's ground floor, We have a preferred room this time! Ho[e this helps you! :thumbsup2

I have never put a request in, but I have never really had an area that I really wanted to be in. I paid both times for preferred, the first time I was placed in the back of the 60s facing the lake, at that point it was preferred, although it is not now. I took walked to the middle of Baloo & Mowgli and took the stairs up to the third floor, and my room was not far from there. I loved it. The second time I was in the other 60s building but facing the courtyard. Room 4414 (I think, I'll check with my nephew! :rotfl: He remembers the number better than I do) was the second or third room at the top of the green stairs. Great room both times. Each time I checked in, they asked if I had an area I'd like to be in, and I said no. I was happy to be wherever they placed me. I am assuming that if you don't have a request with your reservation, they ask you when you check in, like they did me, and try to place you where you would like to be. Sometimes you can be unexpectadly happy in an area that you did not want to be in. Just my few cents worth...

When I go solo I like the first floor, standard room 50's 60;s or 70's The last time I went they had me hooked to a GG and in the 80's but I said I didn't want that and they switched with no problem ! I requested first floor 50, 60,or 70's for next May !

I've never requested a specific building, floor, room, ect...just that I wanted connecting rooms and got it! :thumbsup2

Just returned from the Pop yesterday and had a great time.:thumbsup2 We had sent our request via fax 5 days early and request was met almost exactly but just one floor down. (still great) Be sure to check out the hussle at 6 p.m. We were lucky enough to be checking in right when the CM did the hussle. What a great way to be greated. Our girls loved the slushee machine. The brownie sundays are fabulous, as are the tie die cheesecakes. We weren't too happy with our mousekeeper. The last day she continued to knock on the door over and over even after I yelled through that we were still here. My husband and youngest daughter were still sleeping after a long night at MNSSHP. When I opened the door she didn't apologize and grumpily asked when we'd be leaving so she could clean it. No "hope you had a good a trip" or apology for waking us. Needless to say we left no tip the last day. I'm not certain if that was the same lady we had our whole stay or not. Word of caution. We used Magical Express luggage check in at hotel. Our luggage did not make it. In fact, we still do not have our luggage. We've had long phone calls w/ airline who have been able to track two bags but can't find one at all. What a headache. They said someone deleted the tags. I will never leave my bags w/ check in at hotel again. Keep them w/ you and check them in at airport yourself. We loved being able to see Epcot and MK fireworks from our room every night. What a treat. Will definitely return to Pop.

Did you have the "Do not disturb" sign on the door? If so then I would be highly upset, if not then she was just doing her job, she may not have heard you yell that you were still there.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the luggage. We used it and LOVED it. We loved the fact that we didn't have to deal with it and we had no problems at all!! I hope they find it soon for you.

Sorry about your luggage and your mousekeeper.
We have stayed at the POP many times, and have found mousekeeping there to be some of the best we have had!
Also, we used ME this last trip after many times of doing it ourselves and we LOVED it! We have used the resort check in of our luggage before and that was great too. What a great feeling not to be dragging those suitcases all around!!
Was your luggage problem on the way home? Was Disney helpful?

Lost luggage is always a fear of mine ! I always tell everyone to pack at least one outfit in someone elses suitcase and always bring a change of clothes in carryon plus swimwear, pj's toothbrush etc . I have used ME twice with no problem and it sure is easy !! But if I had your experience I would feel the sameway !!

There are good and bad mousekeepers at all the Disney hotels. We adored our Mousekeeper this year during both our trips it was the same lady. I wanted to take her home with me and adopt her she was so sweet.

Now when she was gone and a new mousekeeper did the job she did an awful job but found our tip and kept it. :goodvibes We left a note to get more pool towels and blankets and she left a bunch of wadded up wash rags on top of our luggage and nothing else. All she did was make the beds and no wiping things down. I laughed because I think the wash rags were left by mistake. :confused3 Last year our mousekeeper kept walking in on me in my underwear miday with the privacy sign in the door. She did it 3 or 4 times to me. I thought I scared her off the first time seeing me that way but no such luck. :lmao: I can say that after last year I think I would have been thrilled with a mousekeeper who didn't clean but didn't walk in on me either.

As for luggage check out: when checking out it is airport employess (I think they are TSA) who take your luggage, put the tags on, and get it to the airline you are flying on. I always wait till I see my tags and watch as they put them on my luggage. I have been lucky not to have problems going home.

When the luggage comes to the resort it is Disney employees who pull the luggage with the yellow tags, put it on a truck, and deliver them to the correct resorts. Sadly, for the first time in 5 trips using ME we had our luggage go to the wrong resort when we got there this last trip. It took about 24 hours for them to locate it and get it to our room. When we reported it to the Pop luggage room they claimed our airline lost it. When we got back to our room the day after we checked in it was there with a tag on it from another Disney resort that said it had been misdelivered to that resort. A great idea is packing some of everyones clothing in each suitcase incase this senerio happens. This way everyone has clothing the next day and you aren't missing everything of one persons.

I have had perfect and wonderful stays at Pop in the past myself but sadly there is not enough magic anywhere to make everything perfect everytime. :goodvibes

It is good to share the good and bad so others can be aware and prepare just in case for the bad. This way when it is good and they encounter no problems they will be that much happier.

Can anyone provide me recommendations on room requests and any tips of advise for 1st time ever.

Very excited now!

Depends on what you are looking for...quiet area, near pool, foodcourt, bus stops, view of lake or fireworks @night....we have never paid for a perferred room...have stayed in the 50's, 70's and 80's and have always been satisfied with our location...others might think its too far to walk to the foodcourt or bus stops :confused3

It depends on what you are looking for.

I personally book a preferred room and then make no other requests. I have been happy both times with what I was given. My first time it was a lake-view room in the 60s, but not too far from Classic Hall. That room is now not preferred. My second trip was 4th floor 60s just around the corner from the green stairs facing the court yard. Again, I was just minutes to Classic Hall. I loved both rooms and was quite happy with them. I choose to not make requests and take what I get, especially at Disney!

Only once (not Disney, but on my way) did I refuse a room. I was delayed in Boston on the way down to WDW and was given a room at a hotel. I started to look for the hotel, but the way to the room was stairs only, not even elevator accessable, and the stairs were metal and looked like they were going to the basement, and I mean basement! They were narrow and creepy! I met someone part way and I had to turn around and go back up to let him by. I went back to the desk and asked for a different room. Ended up with a king room on the main floor.

We loved being able to see Epcot and MK fireworks from our room every night. What a treat. Will definitely return to Pop.

What room or what vicinity did you stay in where you saw the fireworks? I would really love to request that area!:)
