Ok, to save on luggage space we are shipping a package down before we arrive. Can you also ship from POP back home?

I remember reading on another thread (which I can't find now) that some Dissers were putting together a box of decorations to pass around @Pop (kinda like a fridge swap...I remember the Disser who had the idea needed someone to take over the thread b/c she was pregnant...if that rings a bell...) Does anyone here know if this box still exists? I would like to add/donate my window/door decorations after we are done with them if it does (rather than bring them home!) :surfweb:

If this does exsist I wish I had known about it. I had tons of stuff I would have gladly added to it.

I was wondering in your guys' experience, for the value non preferred rooms...which is the better area to request? I figured that the 60's 70's because we have 2 toddlers and that is near the goofy jets and close to the kiddie pool. NOw, with the POP Warner kids being there I just want a QUIET area. Is there a section where you could see the fireworks (as I have read you can see them from the lake) from your room? Or even the closest section to the lobby to request?:)

2nd question...silly as this sounds... We are flying from Maine(not that it makes a huge difference in this question) I want to bring snacks and juice boxes with us. As silly as this sounds, if I pack juice boxes in a suitcase they won't explode will they? I don't mind putting them in large freezer bag type bags. I just fear they will burst. lol:confused3 :goodvibes

1) You're pretty much going to have to decide between fireworks and close to the lobby, because there is no such thing as a room with both.

Personally, I'd go with your original idea of 60s or 70s. I always request "closest to Classic Hall" and that has helped.
Take a look at what is non-preferred in the map on the first post of this thread.

We were a few rooms beyond preferred in the parking lot side of the Lady bldg., and it was VERY quiet.
We have been behind the Jukebox in the 50s also, and there we could see fireworks at the end of the hall. It is a bit farther, but very quiet.

2) Juice boxes and airplanes...no idea! But I do know that a lot of people either buy stuff from a grocer that delivers, or ship stuff down via UPS.
If you are nervous about flying with it, go that route.

Happy planning! :wizard:

For a quiet area near the pop jets, the 1st fl back side of 60's bldg 4 (lakeside bldg 4 is esp quiet and pretty view too) or 5 would be perfect - it is not a preferred location anymore, but just as short a walk to the food court/lobby and the pop jets, kiddie pool are nearby.

I was just there and walked around these buildings thinking what a great location for families with little ones. We were in room 5470, 4th floor, Hippy Dippy Pool view, but a king room. If you check out the map and ask at check-in for any of those rooms, you might have good luck. Lots of possible rooms.:)

Good luck and have fun planning! :goodvibes

I love all the Disney Resorts, and have stayed at a lot of them. One of the things I liked about AKL was no bus sharing, and I'm looking forward to that at POP. Have read through a lot of the thread. We have a preferred room, that was all that was available because I just booked yesterday. Just me and DH and DD9. Any suggestions on if we should request an area? Are there any areas of the resort that have been recently renovated?
Thanks!:goodvibes

Thanks guys!! Good info! :goodvibes
Now does it make a difference if I call and have that added to my res(It just requests 60's or 70's right now) But if I wanted a certain area of that. OH! I read on page 1 that there are elevators. I just assumed they were stairs for some reason. So for this reason, instead of ground floor (which i again requested because of strollers) should i perhaps request top floor...no upstairs neighbours for this reason. I know, over planning...but better to think about it now than then.

As or the juice... I figured if people ship them down, they do go on planes. SO I think Im safe. :) I just need to save all the money I can since I am a tad bitter I can't have the free dining plan. That is such a sweet deal!

Does anyone have information regarding the clock radio/alarm clock? Does it have a spot to put your ipod on top? Does anyone know if it has a setting for background noise such as the ocean etc? Theres gotta be someone out there with a picture as well?

Thanks

Yes we do. With the exception of a picture, it's noted in Post #1.

You may want to wander over to the Pop Picture thread to request a picture. I know there isn't one on that thread now, but there are a couple of people leaving this week who have said you can give them requests.

I would definitely add the requests now....remember, best not more than 3 and in order of importance...then at check-in ask if your request were able to be met and if not, ask what might be available. I've found if you know the map well enough, it helps at check-in when requesting a room location.

So...an example...:)
1. 60's or 70's
2. 4th floor
3. close to lobby/food court

We prefer 4th floor as well for the same reason - no noise above - but 1st can be very handy!

Have a wonderful trip!!:goodvibes

Ahh good stuff! I will be sure to do that!!:thumbsup2 Thanks!!

Does anyone have a picture of the alarm clocks/radio at pop? Do they have a spot for your ipod? Ive heard some talk about them having a few settings of background sounds like the ocean, etc...anyone confirm this? Any information would be Great!

In March our clock had sounds, but wer super annoying. I want soothing sounds to go to sleep. The ocean was soothing and then I was jsut about out and then it had stupid seagulls making noises. Who wants to hear birds in the sound soother? And the abbling brooke would have loud crickets. There was on other, but can't remember it. But I didn't like that one either. it seemed all had an annoying noise in them that defeated the purpose.

:cloud9: Good morning everyone! I'm more east then eastern time (atlantic time) so I thought I would unburry the thread. :)
I was on DIS right before bed, so what did I dream off? That's right, DW and frozen pineapple sticks from Aloha Isle. Never even been to DW, but I have read enough to know subconsciously I want pineapple! lol 3.5 months! Thank goodness for October being a busy month! It will fly by (our Thanksgiving, anniversary, my birthday, and halloween)
Hope everyone's weekend was great! Long weekend for us this weekend (Labour Day) But dh is working Monday to get a little extra $$ for DW.

Honeystar120608, You sure do have a busy October - sounds like my November!

Am still on a high from my too short POP stay last week - was so happy to find the room had been recently painted. Previous 2 trips we had rooms in very poor condition and housekeeping was terrible. HUGE improvement this stay. :thumbsup2

Have fun planning! :goodvibes

Welcome to the DIS from a fellow NBer. You will love POP, it is a great resort.

Hello-

I am new to all of this and it will be our first trip to Disney.:cool1: I am not sure where to ask this so if I am in the wrong spot I am sorry. Our son has autism and is a very picky eater. Does POP have bagels in the food court? I have looked at the menus at All Ears, but I don't see them. I know that sounds dumb, but hey I am a planning freak. Also, I want this trip to go as smooth as possible. Thanks for your help!!
