We were there from May 12th to 19th 2011 and jets were not working. :sad2: That is odd it's two months later and they are still off.

Hi!!!

This will be our very FIRST value stay! IOW,we are value virgins!
And after reading this thread, we chose POP!

Before our Bounceback stay at Poly for our anniversary, we are doing the FREE dining at Pop, WHAT a DEAL! DH was saying that we might start coming to WDW more with these prices! LOL

Anyways, I was wanting to know, we booked a preferred room, and all I asked for was a king room. What else do you think I should of requested?

Also, does POP have taxis around often? When we want to go to the BC for early breakfast, etc, we rather not take a bus. IYKWIM. :)

TIA! :cutie:

My first visit to POP is in september, and I had the same questions about location. I personally don't care where we are but Dbf wants to be by the lake. If quiet is imporant to you, you can ask for lakeview, but I am not sure if you can get a preferred that is lakeview?? If you haven't had a chance to look at all the maps on post #1 and #2 of this thread, there is a wealth of info about room locations and walking distance from the buses. I spent about 2 hours the other day looking at it and picked out exactly what room I wanted to make Dbf happy.... I doubt that will happen but you can hope right!! ;)

We requested standard king with quiet lakeview, as close as possible to bus and food court.

In regards to the taxis, Dbf and I are thinking the same thing for one of our dinner ADR's. I don't think the taxis sit out in front of the hotel but if you call to the front desk they can call a taxi for you.

Hope this helps.

Thank you,janabananas!:goodvibes

I can tell you everything about the deluxes and all the concierges, but am all thumbs about the values and mods, again, thanks and it looks like I have ALOT of research to do!

Looks like I need to call and adjust my requests! TY!

That is funny. The only comment dh made about vacation was did you request the same area. Which is a room facing the lake. LOL In the 60's section. :)

I have seen taxi's in the parking lots of some of the resorts. Dh is going to make a beer run and is using a taxi since we need a styrofoam cooler. I would just place a order threw GG but we don't need anything else.

Phone agent told me all of the 60s buildings' rooms are preferred. Is that true? Any suggestions for how to word a room request? I just prefer to not be far away or face the parking lot.

Pool or Lake View
50s, 60s, or 70s Buildings

Looking forward to 1st stay at Pop Century! Thank you!

I had to call back 3 times to get this added. The first to cm's were trying to tell me it was all preferred which it isn't. Keep trying.

I just booked my reservation at POP for next February. I requested lake view, 60s or 70s. Hope I get both requests. I'm just excited to have a ticker again!

I have read through this thread so many times in preparation for my daughter and my trip next month. She is 6 yrs old.

So many people ask, which building is best..closest to food, pools etc. Now that many have been, does room location matter that much? I haven't requested a specific building/location etc, as I don't plan on spending a bunch of time in there. However I would hate to walk to miles from the bus.
How long is the walk to the farthest building...should I be concerned?
TIA

I believe the longest walk from the bus is aprox. a 1/4 mile, maybe 10 minutes. On post #1 and #2 of this thread there is a list of the distance per building and walk time as well as maps that show the preferred rooms. There is a wealth of info.

It matters a lot to us. We are by no means a "lazy" family - we exercise a lot and are used to lots of walking and being very active. My husband is on his feet almost all day at work, all week long - and Disney exhausts even him. That said, little legs handle it a lot worse (and like I said, I have very active kids).... hauling yourself and a tired, winey kiddo across the resort at night-time (or afternoon break time) is very annoying. We requested a room close to the main building (but didn't pay for preferred). It's still a bit of a walk, but we ended up in the 4000 building on the lake-side. I would suggest it. It's no harm in asking, doesn't take much effort either. It's worth it to save a little bit more energy for the parks.

Location also matters for little ones that aren't used to a lot of noise at night - the pools are very noisy, sometimes until 2am which was a big shocker to me. I will request first floor, close to the buses, away from the pool when we go in April.

I booked standard at POP, but had preferred at All Star Movies last year. At movies, we had the closest possible room to the main building. It was PERFECT as there were a couple nights when DS5 fell asleep in the park or on the bus and I had to carry him to the room. Some of the buildings at POP look a lot further away. I requested 60s building, hoping I get a standard room there. But thinking it might be worth changing to preferred.

Hi redhead09, it looks like we will be there at the same time :cool1: It will be my first time at Pop and I am very excited :woohoo: I requested lakeside, top floor in building 2 or 3 pixiedust: Here's to a magical trip for both of us :dance3:

If being close to the main building is important to you I would book preferred. I always ask for something close but if I don't get it. I won't be upset. Even though pop is huge to me after staying at SSR it is very compact IMO. Granted both stays we have been in the 60's section facing the lake. :)

We stayed in the 90s building 2 years ago, which technically is far away from the main building, but you can cut through the parking lot very easily and be at the main building/bus stops super quickly. We did this all the time last trip.

Thanks all! Great tips on location. I am not too worried, just don't want a pool view (not that you can really see it from the room (lol)) and the noise that goes along with it. Still on the fence about online checkin. Did it at POR and POFQ and got the closest rooms to the main building - perfect!! Will the 3rd time be a charm for a good location? Who Knows!

See ya there mlittig:cool1:

I have never used online check in at pop. The line moves extremly fast and is really well organized. Out of all the resorts we stayed at POP really has the most efficent check in system. Both times we have stayed there they had someone in the lobby standing near the check in line. Making sure things were running smoothly.

I've never used online check-in at Pop. The longest wait I've had was about 10 minutes, probably not that long. I'll keep doing it the old fashioned way. Maybe I'll help save a CM's job.

If you drive to the parks, the 90s building is awesome. :thumbsup2
