oh my gosh...just found out from another thread about a drink you can get from "Petals" poolside bar...its called "The Lava Lamp"...mmmm why did I not know about this sooner!!!!! I believe it has Bacardi Limon, Blue Curacao, Sprite, Grenadine and Sour Mix in it....I will definitely be checking this out when Im there..37 days and counting.:hippie:

sounds delicious! :hippie:

I totally understand! Last Aug we got a PIN code for 40% off Deluxe - I spent weeks trying to convince my kids to try the Beach Club but they wanted NO part of it - They love:lovestruc POP. Then it dawned on me.. *duh* why am I trying to convince my kids to let me spend thousand more? They love POP and DH and I love POP - enough said. For our *surprise* trip this May I considered a different resort, but like you, I would truly miss POP.
And seeing that you are on the QSDP I can't think of a better resort that POP to take advantage of that. We stayed at POFQ and I was really dissapointed in the Food Court.
Anyway - Glad to have you back in the POP club. :grouphug:

:cool1: We will be arriving May 26 Staying also at Pop in th 50's section. This will our 6th year in a row. This resort has all the Disney Magic. Thought of Staying at a Moderate just cannot see paying all that extra Money as We just Sleep and Shower. It's clean and all the the Staff are just Great and also Mouskeeping
does a great Job.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Yet again, thank you for this thread! Called and put in a "request" for the 60s building. Given the age of my kids, the pools located near that building will work best for us. Additionally, I mentioned I heard I might catch a good view of fireworks : ) It is not guaranteed but he said he would make the note on my account. 38 days and I'll know for sure :dance3:

We have stayed at pop and we do spend a little more time at the resort than just to sleep and shower since we go for 10 days. But I find pop has everything we want. So why spend more for things we won't use.

We love the 60"s section. I have stayed 60's facing the lake and really have never had a good view of the fireworks. I just like the location. I think the best location is 50's for fireworks. Both times once in building 4 and once in building 5 we have views of trees facing the lake.

Can anybody help a POP newbie out :flower3:

I have stayed at the All Star resorts several times and I swear we always end up WAAAAY far away from everything. After our last trip in 2008 with a 7 month old and a slow walking, but independent 2 year old, we vowed we wouldn't chance that again, lol. So this time we're staying at POP for the first time and we paid for a preferred room. I know requests might not be honored, but just to try, what should we request? We will have a car, would LOVE to be close to the food court and a pool but not have *too* much noise as we have a 4 month old, 3 year old and 5 year old who are light sleepers ;)

Any thoughts??

Ask for 60's Building Preferred room. I have stayed in that location both visits to POP and will not stay in any other section. It is right near the Hippy Dippy Pool and the children's pool. The main building (food and buses) is extremely close. :thumbsup2

If you want to be as close as possible just ask for the 60's section not facing the pool. The only problem is pop isn't set up like the all stars and you will have to walk to the parking lot quite a way. I think most of the pefered rooms aren't very close to the paking areas. I could be wrong since I have never had a car there. The only parking lot I have ever seen is the front when you pull in.LOL

38 days til my solo trip and can't wait to try that Lava drink!! I'm so getting in vaca mode. Booked a preferred room. Everything looks fun at Pop Century. I'm glad they have a pool bar!!

Another Newbie Here :flower3:

We have booked preferred rooms and I was just wondering if 50's section first floor is a good request. Anyone stayed in this section before what are your thoughts?

TIA:cloud9:

Just Booked Pop Century for May 16th-18th (before my college program check-in!). I dont like staying on the bottom floor - is there a way to request to NOT be placed there ahead of time or should I just wait until check-in. I.AM.SO.EXCITED.!

I'm going to try that drink the first day we get there. We have nothing really planned for that day will later in the evening we'll do mini golf. So I will sit by the pool and have a drink.

Thanks! I think we'd be ok having to walk to the car to go out for the day, so that's not a huge deal, but at least now I know! It's more the going to grab a snack or food or drink refill or hit the pool without having to walk super far! Sounds like the 60's is the way to go!

Oh, and also, how are they handling "requests" these days? I know there are some changes that took place. Should we put a note with online check in? Call? We're not checking in until around 8:00 pm, hopefully that won't go against us!

You should call with requests. There is still some question with new systems whether the requests are being transferred to the room assignments, but the general advice I've seen is still to call with requests. I called last week with requests and the CM took them...doesn't mean they will get honored, but she didn't say no.

Online check-in does not have a free-form spot for requests anyway; you can only choose from ground floor, near transportation, fridge, or pack-n-play.

Great! I'll call, thanks! Should I call the reservation line or POP?

Call the reservation line. Just had them note your reservation. Make sure you get a new conformation sent to you. Sicne one time I called and it was never on there.

OMG!! REALLY!!! I had no idea and I've stayed at Pop... at least on 8 occasions.... I thought the menu at the pool bars were all the same. I once compared the menu at Pop's pool bar to the menu at the Grand's pool bar during the same trip and they were the same. I saw no Lava Lamp!:confused3 Now I will ask for it! :drinking1
