Thanks MinnienNana, That was helpful. I am leaaning toward building 5 lakeside! Will put it as a request on my ressie when I call back this week to add a night and try to make sure I get them at check in before they issue my KTTW's!

Another question ( I seem to have a few!) We are arriving on sight early am
(7:30ish)just to get checked in, grab our KTTW cards (with tickets and DDP on them) and head out to a park. We will be just across the street the night before after driving the 1000 miles down in one stretch. So we will rest up, recoup and head over to POP on Sunday am for check in. We will not need the rooms then, just to check in???? Any suggestions? Would love to drop our stuff in the rooms but not necessary. Rather make ropedrop. Do you think we will have any more flexibility in room assignments at that hour?

PS nope, not in my 60's yet but getting there fast. These last two "late in life" little ones we are raising seem more like grandkids then our own (at least that's how our 4 oldest tell us we treat them ) My back and feet have "issues" and sometimes they are just fine and other times? UGH. Told my DH I would be graduating from pushing a stroller to a walker all at once at this rate. I will bring the stroller this trip for sure.

On our Dec 2009 trip we stayed down the road about 7 minutes away so that we could check in early and hit the parks. We figured we'd get our KTTW and just leave our luggage in the car. We had made requests for 60's playdoh building, 4th floor, fireworks view. DH had done online check-in so when we arrived at 7:30am in the morning they had all our info all ready. We got 50's lady building, 4th floor, poolview. We asked about our requests and could have gotten a room closer to what we wanted if we waited for a room to be ready after 3P or we could have the room they gave us then and get our luggage taken care of. Decided to keep the room they assigned us. We had all our luggage out of the van, a few things put away, bags ready for the park and at MK for their opening show at 8:45a.

Not sure if the online check in is why we didn't get our requests, it if was because we checked in early in the morning or if it was the time of year (checked in the Sunday after Thanksgiving). The other two years that we went to WDW and stayed at Pop we got all our requests.

And I do understand that they are just requests. Wasn't upset at all. Heck, we were at WDW!

Our flight lands at 1:40pm, taking towncar service to POP with a stop at grocery store. I'm thinking we should be at POP for check-in around 3pm??? We have 5pm HDDR reservations and plan to taxi it over to Fort Wilderness Resort, leaving POP around 3:30-3:45pm.

Question...if we don't have enough time to place our luggage and COLD food items in our room can we leave them with front desk until we get back from HDDR?

Just wanted to say hi. Can you believe how close we are getting?! I am getting super excited.

Oh by the way at least you won't be in a rush to get home and watch the Eagles at the superbowl..I guess I will be in a rush though cause my Steelers are going to be in it

Oh my, that is cutting it awfully close! In 2004 I had to meet a group at the MK at 5:30 and was late - I checked in at 1, but room was not ready until almost 4, and it was filthy (feces on the wall and all over the bathroom). It was so bad that a housekeeping manager was sent up - which took some time.

There is often a line at the 3 p.m. check-in time, so do allow for that - or especially if a ME bus has just arrived. For your cold food items - did you order a fridge for the room? If so, it may not be in the room right away. Pretty sure you would leave any food items with your luggage at luggage service (outside the lobby at the main entrance) - definitely not with the front desk.

Fingers crossed the room is ready and you have time to freshen up before heading to HDDR - don't forget to be there (HDDR) at least 15 mins prior to seating to check-in.

With the fridge, everytime I have orederd one, they have never had the it in the room when we have got there, room ready or not. I am diabetic and have top have a fridge for my Insulin. The staff Is always great about getting one into the room when requested. They tell me the rweason Is that there is so many cancelations. that they just now wait until requested. I have notice that when I have requested a certain room/location, that it seems that for the most part it really goes on deaf ears(dumbo size ears). The excuse its not avalble untill?, and you will always seem to take the alternative it seems. If it stands between you and the park, you will always take the park. Just my thought, I have never complain where they had put us. So this year I just chose standard, I want to be suprised. I have not found one location bad.

Thanks for letting me know where we can store our luggage and cold food items. It won't bother me if room isn't ready just as long as there is a place to store our luggage & cold food until we can get back from HDDR. So much to think about

Yes the suspense is starting to kill me..sleeping at night is not going the greatest...it is strange I feel so much pressure to make this trip great or DH will never want to go again ahhh I just wish it would get here already
