Are we thinking this refurb will be done by the first week in October?! If not is there a way I can make a request on the online check in?! We already have requested connecting rooms, and ground floor (my sister is in a wheelchair), I'm just hoping we get a refurbed room as well.:thumbsup2 3 weeks from today we will be there!!:banana:

No. Online check-in has 'checkbox' requests only for:

-ground floor
-fridge in the room (fee at check-in)
-pack n' play
aaaaand...something I can't rememeber.
But there's no freeform box to make a request.

If these are on your reservation then don't do any of the special requests on the online check-in. It was explained to me that if you do the online requests override what you requested when you made the reservation.

From many trip experiences with special room requests, they'll do their very best to accommodate you, particularly wheelchair requests, medical requests, etc. Heck, I've no reason to make requests except for preferences to certain areas in certain resorts and they've ALWAYS been honored. :goodvibes

Best of luck and I hope you get everything you need!

Just completed Online check in - 10 days out! Will spend this weekend packing and getting ready!

I'm paid in full as of this morning! :woohoo: I just have 42 days left! Just have to remember to keep an eye on my towel and not panic :lmao: If anyone gets that, kudos to you ;)

I am on the phone with Disney trying to add my room request and I have the strangest cast member who is asking me all these weird questions! Why do I have 2 reservations, why am I calling Disney if I booked through a TA (I didn't book through a TA). She is telling me she can't add in my room request. Now she has me all freaked out!

Hang up and call back. Every once in a GREAT while I get someone who's...just not on their game. So I call back until I get someone who is. And if it IS an issue with your ressie make sure you go through it with them with a fine tooth comb!

I am trying to decide if we want to send a few things by mail:

how do I address the box?

I just completed an order through drugstore.com (free shipping over $25, so we ordered all our sunscreen / diapers / wipes) and gardengrocer.com

If you are shipping to Pop, here is how to address your order:

Name on Disney reservation
Disney Pop Century
1050 Century Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
(407) 938-4000

You do NOT need your room number. Also, you can only have things shipped to Pop Century 10 days prior to your arrival. Apparently, names and reservations are not in the system prior to that.

Hope this helps!

We will be there October2-8th. 1st visit in 20 years.I have a child with lots of allergies. We need to be away from the smoking areas. Do you have any suggestions on which room we should request?I hope this will be a good time to go.Thanks:)

I know for the 50's section the smoking area is right outside the preferred buildings. In the 80's it is by the computer pool. In the 60's they are facing the lake. Be careful because the *main* smoking area that always seems to be very crowded it right outside the doors from the food court/main building near the main pool.

:thumbsup2 Thank you so much!! I'll just go with the requests that are on our reservation. If we don't get a refurbed room it wasn't meant to be.. it's much more important to get the ground floor and connecting. My sister's wheelchair is special made and awkward for elevators. I'm sure it will be fine! :) Thanks again for the info!

I was there last week. I was in building 3 (50's section) in the back facing the lake....room 3329. There is a bench just under the rooms there along memory lane where everyone was smoking. It was only an issue when we were walking towards the lake (which we didn't do very often since that was away from the elevators).

well, I am guessing I will NOT be getting my requested room.
(this is the 60's building right?)

Yes, this is the 60's (the building closest to the 50's buildings), but the refurb should be done by now - they were working really fast and there were tons fo workers. When do you go?

I had been previously told to add the dates of your stay to your address... for instance:

Mrs. and Mrs. Disney Addict
guests Nov 14-28 2010
Disney Pop Century Resort
rest of Pop address.

70 more days!!:dance3:

Oh wow - we are right outside of Boston!

We're in Southeastern MA, about 15 min. from the RI border. I hope everything worked out with your reservation.

I hope you have a great trip. Perhaps you'll "come across" my room. The window will be decorated. :goodvibes

ok! So we aren't too far apart!

We will be there at the same time! That is great - I will def look for your window - did you reserve a specific location.

I want to call back to check but I hate going through that automated system!

Just back! We had requested building 4, poolside (which was more of a request from the family we were traveling with, I didn't care about poolside), and ground floor. Well most of building 4 is closed for refurbishment so they put us in building 5, 4th floor facing away from the pool, lol! But to be honest, it was a great location. Ground floor would have made it ideal but I was really happy there. In fact, I was sipping my coffee at a table by the pool one morning around 7am and a CM came by with a huge power washer that had to be towed behind a vehicle, and cleaned the deck. Man was it loud! I was happy to have my room on the quiet side of the building.
Our room was refurbed and very nice. I loved the privacy curtain. Warning about the new comforters; they are heavy as heck! It felt like being covered by the lead vest the dentist puts on you before xrays! We threw them off the beds, and just used the blanket and sheet. Mousekeeping must see this often because they didn't even put them back on. I don't know how one little lady manages these by herself all day long! Seriously.
Every CM was wonderful and friendly. It was a great stay at Pop!

Requested the 70's area but we'll see what pans out!

Hey! I know you!

This thread is very informative. Now I just need to know how I need to make my request.

I'll be at POP Century Dec 18-24. I'm booked for a preferred room.

I would like a top floor, courtyard view. Ideally, buildings 4, 5, 6, or 10. I don't want to make too many requests though. THe most important things are building location and top floor. So maybe 60s or 70s section, top floor?

Miss Manda, I posted this, maybe a page back, but whatever you end up wanting, make the request with Disney CRO (and fax 5 days ahead too, if you want) but if you check in online, don't check off any of the checkboxes or they'll override the original requests you put on the ressie. Unfortunately there's no freeform box for these more specific-type requests when you check in online.
