DH and I felt the same way about our stay last Friday through Wednesday. We will never stay anywhere other than a deluxe again. I guess we are just spoiled. We loved Pop when we stayed there in 08, but we hated it this trip. We hated the beds, pillows, towels, crowded dining hall, long walks, loud toilets, motel feel, etc. We've realized once you go deluxe you never go back (at least for us!)

I can see why people would like Pop, but its just not for us anymore. We did have a view of Illuminations from our room which was super nice, but that was really it.

How can either of you compare Pop to a Deluxe? Obviously it can't compare. You should know that by the price you paid compared to what you would pay for the deluxe resorts. That is not fair to Pop. You should take it for what it is. A Value resort. And then if you don't like it, then that is your opinion and you have a right to it. JMHO

Hope someone can help me - I can't seem to find the answer anywhere... We're bringing my DD's blow up mattress. Will Pop provide extra sheets and a blanket so we don't have to haul our own?

Thanks!

I don't know about the sheets but I am sure you can get extra pillows!!

We just got back from 3 nights at Pop and really liked it. We had connecting rooms 6344/6345 in the 70s. The checkin staff were very nice and made sure that we had our connecting rooms. The rooms were perfectly sized, cute, and VERY clean. We faced the lake and overlooked the construction of the new suite resort. We REALLY liked this part of the resort because it was quiet, but centrally located. I would ask for these rooms again. The beds were pretty comfortable, but the pillows just didn't work for me so much. The food court had a HUGE selection and the food was pretty good. The busses were fabulous. Never waited more than 5 min at either the resort or park :goodvibes. We are normally deluxe people, but this resort was great - certainly better than some others we have stayed at on property!!!:goodvibes

Myself and my DS17 have stayed at POP 4 times, once in the 60's and the three other times have been the 50's.

My DS17 says we need to check out the other side and by that he means the 80's and 90's.

I would love to hear everybody's thoughts on this section. oh yea I was thinking of asking for the 90's section bottom floor facing the pool.

Thanks

It's never too early to start packing. We started the other night so we were 24 days out! I had to check to see if the kids' shorts and T's still fit, so since they were out...:confused3 I packed one of our carry-on's with a change of clothes for each of us and our swim suits JUST IN CASE our luggage gets lost. In that bag I also put the kids' pressed penny money, laynyards and pins and spinners. You know, the MUST HAVES! :rotfl::rotfl:So I feel good that at least one bag is ready. I've had those dreams where you wake up and you're late for the plane and nothings packed...

The bad thing about going in January is the uncertainty of the weather. I think I have 3 pr of shorts each for the boys and hubby, and 2 for me. I've got some casual capri's too. We'll wear jeans and prob L/S T's and sweatshirts on the plane, and I guess we'll take another pr of jeans and warm up pants, and some long and short sleeved tees that we can layer if its chilly. I refuse to bring our coats, so it darn well better warm up!!!

I know what you mean! :confused3 We are going last week of jan. too. I've been watching how cold it was in Dec. and was going to take mainly capris, a good smatering of long pants and maybe 1 or 2 pairs of shorts. I have Disney fleece jackets for both of us w/ hats and gloves for early morning and evenings - and even during the day if needed. :cool1: Now there are temps in the mid to high 70s!! :scared1: I guess I had forgotten it could be warm and had just resided myself to highs in the 50s-60s. Which is fine - much warmer than here. :thumbsup2 But I guess I had forgotten it could get WARM. :confused3 So ..... now I guess I will pack 4 or so of everything :rotfl: Thank goodness southwest does 2 bags free!!!:worship:
So now we'll have some of everything. :cool1: And now matter what it will be great cuz it's DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

I'm soooo excited!!!!!! Gonna be there 27Feb-6Mar and i can't wait. It's my first solo trip and i've been plotting all the fun things there is to do. I can shop til i drop with no annoying kids saying "another shop?" lol.
Is there one thing that i absolutely have to do?? Let me know your suggestions.:cool1:

Yeah, when we were there 1/09, it was HOT! Mid-high 80's the whole trip except for the day we left, it was 50's and rainy. We wore our sweatshirts to the bus in the morning but usually took them off within a few minutes being at the parks, and put them back on for fireworks. Hoping it's warm enough for flip flops!!! :worship:

I think that Rachel does like the Pop. She is just looking for something different now in her vacations than she was in the past. That's why Disney offers 3 hotel tiers. Some people want a nice clean room at a great price with really good basics. That's the Pop. The food court there however, in my opinion, exceeds expectations. Its better than many deluxe restaurants. If you are looking for relaxing in luxury beds, more lush surroundings and spending lots of time in the resort and don't mind paying more, then Deluxe is for you. If you buy at the value tier don't expect to swim at the deluxe resort, but you can use their restaurants, grounds, porches, lobbies and other activities such as the campfire at Ft. Wilderness is open to everyone for instance.

I'm sure they will. We brought my DD's blow up toddler bed before and had no issues other than it was a tight fit in the value sized room.

Love the 80's and 90's area. We stayed at the 80's last time (in November). Its a short walk to the bus stop and main building. It was also very convenient to our car in the parking lot. My DD8 loved the pacman stuff on the building. She kept making pacman sounds as we walked down the hall.

We love POP and can't wait to go down! This will be our 5th straight year at POP. Last year it was quite hot in Sept. but we paced ourselves to handle it. The MNSSHP was nice but not great - too many people on the day we went. I have won lava lamps the last 32 years at POP's arcade - it's pretty easy to do - there's one game , a roulette wheel that gives alot of tix when it's working right.:cool1::thumbsup2:surfweb:

Sorry if this has been asked before but we are headed to Pop for our first time in 29 days! :)

I would love to know how many stops does the Magical Express make before heading to Pop on average

Thanks!

I think it might depend on how many people are going to POP that are on the bus and who else is getting on the bus!

enjoy your first POP visit, you'll love it!
