We're back from our 15 nights at POP.

I must confess, we booked here because of the price point and knowing the boys would enjoy. I wasn't sure how much I would like it but I was REALLY happy at this excellent choice :thumbsup2

We got our EXACT room request, top floor of 60's lake view. It was an awesome location! Not far from the main building and bus stops, close to the hippy dippy pool but nice and quiet. construction noise from across the lake is minimal and only during the weekdays.

Service was excellent. My only minor complaint is that we had 1 little towel animal but the kids were jealous of the variety of animals in other windows. I'm sure this really is a matter of who is on the mousekeeping crew because the areas where we saw them were always grouped in wings, not much in our wing and nothing you can really do about it.

I was impressed with the impeccable attention to upkeep around the resort. It was fun to take a walk about 6 am and see the armies of workers, always got a friendly good morning from them

The food court was fantastic! I truly did not believe people in how good it was. Since we ate here a lot, this was a blessing!

The rooms look great with the refurb and the boys loved the pools!

One complaint that really isn't the fault of POP though...why is it stuck at the end of the bus stops? It is the farthest possible stop for magic kingdom, not at all close at AK, DTD, Epcot or the waterparks. DHS was the only park where it wasn't too bad until our last day when they had moved all the stops around and put POP last :sad2: Very frustrating! If there is no apparent order, they could at least juggle them among the different resorts so 1 isn't stuck at the end at each park!

I would not hesitate to recommend POP to anyone who may have reservations. SO glad we gave it a try :hippie: Thanks to everyone here for all the great info and advice :goodvibes

I have to agree the last stop at the Parks at the end of the day is frustrating , but in all my 6 stays at Pop I have not had many problems with the buses from Pop at all a coupleof times in all 6 times I waited more than 30 minutes !! The food court ROCKS!!!

There is also a smoking area by petals pool at the tables !! I am a smoker , but I smoke in the designated areas . Smoking is also aloowed along the lake side at some spots !!

Is it still there. I know in 2008 it was there , but in 2009 there were no ashtrays there anymore and it wasn't on the map. I didn't even have time to check it out this trip as we were there only 1 night.

So glad you enjoyed your stay and had a great trip!:goodvibes Sounds like a perfect room location!:thumbsup2

I agree the main negative about POP is the long walk to the buses at the Parks - no matter what time we leave a park, that walk feels like forever and the entire time I am in a minor panic that we will just miss a bus.

Welcome back! :)

We just moved up our trip 3 weeks today. So I'm sort of  today. I need to make a list asap and start picking things up. I know now that we are leaving in just about 8 weeks it will go by fast. But before today it seemed like we have lots of time.

The cm that had me today was awesome. I had already changed my flights and there was room at pop before I went to bed. It was still there this am. But beacuse of the FD start date of 8/28 I had to make a room only the night before 8/27. No problem at all the cm even linked my reservations with notes. So I'm hoping we don't have to change rooms but if we do he did his best. He even put the same room request on my room only and I didn't even need to ask. So now I'm 65 days out from 9 days at pop.:thumbsup2

Has anybody got advice for a friend who will be staying at POP who is on a low sodium diet? They will be eating breakfast and dinner at POP most days.

I'm with you, even though 2 months seems like a long time, it's not when you think of the million things you need and want to do before you go. We will be there close to the same time as you. We are there for 10 nights from August 29th to September 8th. This will be our first trip and I can't wait.

I'm a little torn about wishing away the summer though. Especially since our spring has been cool and rainy. If I wish summer away so I can see Mickey  then that is just all the sooner winter is here. I don't much like our cold, snowy Canadian winters.

Enjoy your trip!

Fridge question?

If one needs to request one for a medical reason what do you do? Do you need a note from md?

We are back from vacation. I have to say staying in POP was great. Not many problems.

We were in 4460 because I had requested a quiet room and Michael worked very hard meeting my request. You could see illuminations from the room and it was very quiet. We had a dusty towel animal in the window and when I showed the housekeeper it only had 1 eye she ran and got 2 more animals for us! She was very nice and would stop and chat with us sometimes. It did not seem to be far at all from bus stops and food court. I am the type that always wants the closest parking spot etc so if I didn't think it was far then no one else should. I hated the soap for showers instead of shower gel.

The food court was always clean probably because we ate dinner early between 5:00 and 6:00. The hustle was fun. My biggest complaint was the inconsistancy in time to get food. One of us would get our food right away and one of us would be in a line and one of us would be told "that will take 8 minutes." So someone's food would always be cold. Or one of us would go eat all alone and then be done before the others came to the table. They need to do something about this.

The buses were great and we never had to wait more than 10 minutes. There was a long walk to get to bus stop on way home out of parks. Once everyone was told the wrong place to be picked up so there were some complaints about the bus drivers telling us wrong. We had to walk all the way back and around after one park. After illuminations they had big charter type buses waiting to take us back to Pop. Anyone know if this is normal after evening events like wishes, fantasmic, or illuminations?

Pool was fine. Plenty of chairs. Some games around pool but they were always busy when we were there.

I really liked the whole atmosphere of Pop. Everyone was great, even the guests. It was a fun place to be. It would definitely be a place we would stay again.

Let them know when you make the reservation to have it noted - make it clear it is for a medical reason. No note is required, but these are very small fridges and they do not guarantee one will be available. CM's (both reservation and at the resort) are known to not know these are free of charge and may insist there is a charge (absolutely not) so be sure to confirm the request at check-in and check your bill before paying.:thumbsup2

Are the fridges that you pay for the same ones they provide free of charge for medical reasons? We have medicine that needs to be refridgerated but was hoping to put other things in the fridge too. If the free ones are just big enough for meds only, I will pay the nightly free for a regular one.

Quite small - not the same size as the ones you pay for. The DIS does have a thread about a free fridge swap at POP. Don't know anything about it, but englishrose47 would know. You could pm her if interested.:thumbsup2

it just occured to me that when the new suites are completed across the lake that the bus situation may change at POP.

AllStars share resort buses and POP does not. But since the new resort will be so close and since it originally was to be POP early years.............

maybe we'll be sharing and that will impact the wait, already half full bus, and double stops coming back from the parks.

I am optimistic. Or am I?

I'm guessing that at less busy times POP and AoA will share buses, but at park closing, since POP buses are already very full, they'll probably have separate buses (just like POR & POFQ, and the All-Stars, who don't *always* share buses).

Last year when we got a fridge for medical reasons for one of our Special Needs it was the same size as the ones you rent !! Christine is right about the Fridge Swaps , check out the Budget Boards !!

There are openings for the first 2 weeks of July for a Fridge Swap on squirrels swap, if anyone is interested !!!

You lucked out!!!!:cool1:

That seems to be the norm more oten tha nnot lately. I know the yare supposed to have smaller ones, but I would say 90% of the time I hear they get a full sized refrig...but don't EXPECT to get one, but it is happening more and more.
