I'm sure alot of it is from the pool area and probably some of the prefered rooms. WE had the worst stay ever at ASMO and it wasn't the resort it was beacuse we had a room facing the pool. Ever since then I pack my fan to drown out the noise and my own pillow. I like my pillow flat and the ones at disney are to big. I sleep fine now.

I will be flying so I can't bring a fan. Also, I am a very light sleeper and ear plugs don't work either. This is my first stay at the Pop. I normally stay at the Poly but this is a quick trip.

I fly to. I just bring a small table top fan. I fly SW so between the 4 of us we bring 2 full bags and one almost empty with no fees.

Hi Fellow POPers!

Choco: Thanks for the great pix! Just seeing them and reading your review really makes me want a trip back to POP this summer.

Sorry you had problems with noise. We never do, we always request a lake view, top floor end room. It is the best! Hardly anyone walks by you (people prefer the elevators over the stairs). We don't mind the little extra walking at all. It helps also that we are very sound sleepers too :lmao:

Same here we have always requested a lake view in the 60's and never had a issue. We did have a loud neighbor in 2009 but they were only there for a couple of days.

All,
I have found several free smartphone apps that turn your phone into a white-noise machine. This could serve the same purpose as the small fan, without the wind of course.

We are looking forward to our 1st Pop Century stay in December (after Pop Warner week)!

Peter

Wholly Buckwheat Batman Thank you OP :worship: :worship: and that must have taken forever to put together and tweak! My neice and her b/f are coming and staying and I was really at a loss and where to I go when I am at a loss...the Dis I find everything here :yay: :woohoo:
Anyhow I don't think I have anything further to ask...just wanted to say thanks! :lovestruc

Thanks for the idea, never thought to look for an app. We were right by the whole when we went and didn't hear anything but this will help if we ever do hear noise

Thanks for the suggestion! I will have to try it and see if it works. I am debating on whether change from a prefered room to a standard. It will save me $68.

Hello to all the fellow PoPpers!!! I havea few questions about the resort!

1. Since our last stay at Pop(2008), all of the rooms have been remodeled. How clean are they? Has any one had any experiences with bed bugs :scared1: with the newly remodeled rooms?

2. We have a standard room. What is the best standard room area, closest to the lobby?

3. What time should we be in line for the buses each day to make RD?

4. We will be arriving between 8am and 9am at Pop, will they allow us to check in early?

5. If we can't check in early, I know we can leave our luggage. Do they drop your luggage off at your room while you're at the parks? I would prefer not to have ours delivered, as I would like to check for bedbugs first.

I think that's about it right now!
Thanks! :)

We were, lol. We did MK twice until 3am...the second time we didn't even get on a bus till 3:55 so it was about 4:20 when we rolled into our rooms. We are still very mindful of others, and quiet (although I am sure the neighbors could still hear us open/close the door). We were rarely in our room before midnight.

Ok. It must be busier at night now. We went till 2:45 AM in April and came right back, no wait for a bus for the most part and it was super quite and no one around when we went back to our room

Thanks. I get it. :) So if I am staying at POP and have an ADR at WCC at 5 I want to be getting on the bus at 3:30?

Everyone is so helpful and I really appreciate it!

Another option is to take a bus to DHS, which is very close to POP and then transfer to a WL bus. We stayed at POP and my sister at WL and we did that one night when we had dinner at WCC. Afterwards we took the boat from WL to MK for EMH. It is so nice to have so many transportation options.

The only part I can answer is about the bedbugs. Currently, there is not a problem due to Disney being proactive about the situation. If you are worried about bed bugs, reguest for them to put your luggage in the bathtub.

1. We stayed in a newly remodeled room last week - They are immaculate. The last 3 trips we stayed at POP before the remodel and they were equally remodeled. No bedbug problems ever experienced there by us.

2. Here is a link to the map showing the preferred and non-preferred rooms:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=17643531&postcount=2
We have stayed in the 60's facing the lake (very short walk to the main building), 50's, building #1 (very short walk as well.)

3. I would be in line 1 hour before the park opens for rope drop. Depending on the time of year, crowds..etc.

4. You can check in when you arrive - but your room may or may not be ready...no way to know for sure until you check in.

5. I don't think they deliver your luggage to your room. But if nothing else you can certainly ask them to hold it until you return.

I had read on a thread somewhere that some of the fireworks can be seen from some of the buildings. I can't find that thread anywhere but does anyone know which buildings offer a view of fireworks?

From the first page of the thread::)

-room with view to see Illuminations and Spaceship Earth from Epcot (note that many say you can see only the highest fireworks from Pop)
the best viewing rooms are reported to primarily be found on the lakeside view of 50’s building #2 (Rooms #2450-2460) and 60’s buildings #3 and #4; check out Simba77's post that diagrams the best rooms with a view, which you may want to pair with the room number map
floors 3 and 4 will obviously offer best views in these buildings .

Thanks! That makes me feel better!!! :thumbsup2

All Disney resorts still have issues with bedbugs - there is an infestation in the US and Disney has it's share. All you can do is check the room very carefully before taking your in your luggage, check the drawers for any white dust...this would be a sign the drawers had been treated for bedbugs. Disney uses heat and the white "dust" to treat for the critters. Even in 2008 bed bugs were at Disney resorts...you are just, if not more, likely to pick them on the plane (on-board or your luggage). Good luck - if you do see anything be sure to report it ASAP. Walk to, do not call, the front desk.:thumbsup2

2. We have a standard room. What is the best standard room area, closest to the lobby? bldg 5 has some great rooms very near the lobby that used to be preferred. Bldg 6 does too.

3. What time should we be in line for the buses each day to make RD? At least an hour to an hour and a half.

4. We will be arriving between 8am and 9am at Pop, will they allow us to check in early? You may check-in, but your room may not be ready fort several hours. You can store your luggage with luggage assistance - or if you take ME your luggage will be delivered to your room. You can also ask at a check-in for a room in bldg 5 and ask if there are any rooms available.:thumbsup2

5. If we can't check in early, I know we can leave our luggage. Do they drop your luggage off at your room while you're at the parks? I would prefer not to have ours delivered, as I would like to check for bedbugs first. Stop by luggage service and let them know you do NOT want your luggage delivered until you call for it.:)

I would call and tell housekeeping not to enter the room (they can leave fresh towels in a plastic bag hanging on your door handle) because housekeeping can easily carry the eggs and bugs from room to room.

I think that's about it right now!:cool1:
Thanks! :)
Have a GREAT trip!!!

 This is not true - Disney, like most hotels right now, has an ongoing issue with bedbugs at every resort. It would be very misleading to tell someone there is no problem. We must all be proactive as the resort cannot do anything to prevent bedbugs as it is guests who bring the critters.:thumbsup2 I would not have my luggage put in the bathtub - even a bathroom can have bedbugs. They can be in TV's, light sockets, almost anywhere. In the bathroom the eggs can be left on the shower curtain. YUCK!!
