Tapping In

I heard some attractions have two tap in areas, the entrance and just before boarding while some just have one at the entrance. If i am not riding but just using the tap to open up my tiers do i have to tap in both before being allowed to book another attraction or is just the tap at the entrance sufficient. If you need both will CM's allow you to skip the line to just go tap the second ( i doubt it). Is there a list of attractions that need two taps.

You need to tap both. I can't say what a cast member will allow you to do, but I doubt they'll let you skip the line. There is no list since many attractions that have two tap points don't always have both open.

We had this happen at Tower of Terror a couple of times on a recent visit and the groups doing it didn’t get a very friendly reception.

It’s a long way to that 2nd tap point and you may have to bypass a bunch of guests to get there. I wouldn’t recommend trying it on that one.

You can ask at the first spot if there is a 2nd tap. You have 2 options if you don’t want to ride. If you have others in your party that are riding, give them your MB/ card to tap at the 2nd point. Or, just use the change option to choose a different ride & don’t even bother with LL for that ride.

We did that exact same thing on our trip two weeks ago. All three times we tapped the first turnstile and then there was a CM with an iPad close by that tapped us a second time. We didn't need to enter the attraction queue.

I think @friendoffigment is wanting to use it as a throwaway LLMP to unlock the tiers, and multi-park LLMP booking ability.

@friendoffigment this is the way to quickly tap to unlock Tiers and Multi-park LLMP. The CM at the Tap point is the secrete sauce, and prevents you needing to push your way through a LL while annoying other guests to don't know you want to do a tap and go.

I didn’t assume that because the rides with 2 tap points are usually the most popular ones. I figured they were with a group where some wanted to ride & some didn’t. If I was doing a throw away 1st LL, I’d pick something like Tomorrowland Speedway, Journey into Imagination or Alien Saucers, lol. You can get those ones very early in the day & they have easily accessible tap points.

I never really understood this - why not just ride the ride? Tap the second point, then make your next selection before you board. I grant that some rides may be faster than others at this, but the "throwaway" rides are usually pretty quick.

I was very surprised to see groups using Tower of Terror as a throwaway while at the same time we’re planning for multiple rerides.

Tower is a bad one becuase you have to tap in right before the library rooms. Also, it's not the best to ride, because after that there can still be a bit of a wait. Also, why would someone NOT want to ride ToT? 🤣 But like, I get that you want to save time, but even if you tap into Nemo or something, just ride the thing, yeah? I don't know, it's not that bad is it?

I think the issue is that this is happening near rope drop when other lines are shorter. If I tap at 9:05am for Frozen at HS I’m not getting out of there until 10am and losing valuable rope drop time.

Not all groups using the push to the second tap point are trying to use it as a throwaway LL.

Many are just wanting to be able to book their next LLMP attraction. Unless you follow them to the chicken exit elevator at ToT there is no way to confirm.

Well, okay, that makes sense for a show, but why not just choose something that is a three-minute ride. At HS I guess that would be an issue though as there is not so much to choose from. Alien Swiling Saucers maybe?

Saucers may not have availability at park open since some book that who don’t want to ride Tower.
