hmmm it seems like preferred doesnt make that much difference then, right?

is there a playground at the Pop? If so, does anyone have a picture?

whoops-never mind- found it right in the first post

IMO, I do not think preferred makes much of a difference.

Yes, there is a playground. Check out Post #1 (or it may be in #2), under "Resort Entertainment" for details, including links to pictures. You'll see on the property map its location as well, if that's of interest to you.

I can't wait till I talk to the agency TA next week and check out what she has requested !! As we will prolly have 5 rooms I think we will be in the 80's or 90's which I have never stayed at !! But my big thing is ALL on the same floor and as close together as possible !!

I O!!!!!

I LOVE all the information provided on this thread- esp posts #1 and #2! I can't wait for our May trip to get here- long long time away :(

I'm here now, in preferred, and not that happy with it. I have the furthest first floor room in the 60s, near the generation gap bridge. I asked for 1st floor 50s, as close as possible because of a bad hip. They gave me 1st floor and furthest away in a different decade. Not what preferred means to me. :rolleyes1 So, in MY case, not worth it. And, please don't flame me, I KNOW they were only requests, and nothing is guaranteed. ;)

Plus side - it IS the last room on that side, and nothing around the corner, so only 1 common-shared wall. We've heard nothing from our neighbors. Also, there is NO foot traffic either! :thumbsup2 Near the kiddie pool, so no late night noise. Good with the bad. I'll manage.

Hi Rosie,
Long time no see, hear, or read whatever. Glad to hear your going back to POP in October. I think we're changing our resort to there for the trip in Sept. Have fun and take lots of pictures.

I agree about sometimes preferred not being worth it. We had a preferred room a few years ago and it was in the 50s and was the furthest perferred room possible. Since it was on the 50s side it was far from Classic Hall AND the busses. It wasn't really 'far,' but it wasn't worth paying more for ;) I feel like the preferred rooms should be the 70s ones that are close to the busses, that way you still have a little Classic Hall distance like in the 50s, but you get the extra advantage of being closer to the busses, which might be worth a few extra $$ per night.

in regards to the preferred room status thing: When I went alone last Feb, I booked a preferred room. The only request I made was to note on the reservation that as I was a single woman travelling alone I would prefer an upper level room in a bright well lit location.

I really lucked out- they gave me a 4th floor room (the stairs/elevator didn't bother me at all) and it was a corner room in building 5 I believe, facing the pool. I didn't hear any noise and had an easy walk to the busses/food etc areas.

There are lots of reasons to book this category but for people travelling alone who just want something not out in the boonies of the resort, this is a good option :)

I have been to Disney several times, but I have never done laundry while there. So, I'm sorry if these are trival questions but they are important in my planning process:) I'll be staying at Pop in July. Thank you in advance for your help!

I have been looking for travel size containers for laundry detergent but I can't seem to find any. We use liquid at home, but I'm a little nervous that it might spill in the suit case if I bring it. Do you usually just buy the soap at the resort? If so, about how much are they and about how many loads will I get out of each one from the vending machine? If you bring the soap from home, how do you pack it so that it doesn't spill? Or, do you know where I can find a travel size container of laundry detergent? Thanks for your advice!

What I used on our last trip was absolutely the only one I would ever use again on a trip. It is the purex sheets. I am not sure of the name right off hand, but it is the one where the soap and fabric softener are on one sheet. So it is dry yet not powdery. No spills...

HTH some...

I'm a liquid girl, too, and I always pack soap. :) From time-to-time, I'll find an on-line promo to sign up for a free sample, so when I get those, I hold onto them for vacation. However, you don't have that luxury of time, I know.

Have you looked at your local laundry mat to see if they have liquid soap in single-use sizes? I would imagine that would be somewhat cheaper than buying it at WDW. I also thought I've seen some at Target. :confused3 Still, those are less economical choices than using product you have in your laundry room now.

Alternatives to consider, all of which I would put into a Ziploc bag:

  • Fill a travel container like you find for shampoo (again, check Target or the Dollar Tree). If you have several loads, maybe a shampoo bottle itself is perfect.
  • Fill old vitamin bottles.
  • Re-use a single-serving plastic drinking container like from OJ, chocolate milk, Naked Juice, etc.
  • If you're willing to try something different, I've heard wonderful reviews of Dropps. They're like those gel packs you can get for the dishwasher. Lots of stores carry them now, so check out their website for a location near you
.

Happy planning!!

Like a PP mentioned, we take the Purex sheets. I don't 'love' them at home, but on vacation they work just fine and save a lot of space and liquid issues in your luggage :) Also, if you go here and do the survey they'll send you a free sample pack (which includes enough to do 2 loads.) It says it takes 6-8 weeks, but mine only took about 3 :) :)

Did you explain to them at the counter you wanted something closer? I have made requests at the counter because I was not happy with our location. They always found something for us. Once it took awhile but they found one. Held our bags and put them in the room for us.

Does anyone know if they are still working on re-doing the rooms? I had read somewhere they would be stopping for the summer, but I just read on the boards w/ in the last day or so that they were working on the 70's section. Thanks! We will be there the beginning of Aug.
