we're leaving in three hours!!! I'm sooooo excited. Can't wait to be back at Pop. It's been five l.o.n.g. years since we were there last. I hope we love it just as much this time. I didn't do online check in since we have nothing planned for our arrival day and I left our standard room up in the air - no requests. I hope we get lucky and have a nice quiet room like we did last time (corner, ground floor, by the computer pool).
Be talking to you in two weeks! I'll be sure and keep my eyes and ears open for any news (or gossip) regarding Pop, the refurb, and/or the new resort going in across the lake.

Hope you have a great tip. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Are the corner rooms any larger than other rooms?

 The end rooms at POP are on the end of the bldg so just one room next door. The rooms are identical in every way, one window, same footage etc. We've been in both - some end rooms are nice because less people walk by the room, but it is a longer walk to the room - unless you get an end room by the elevator then everyone will walk by ;). If at the lake end facing EPCOT often other guests will gather there to watch the top of IllumiNations.
Hope this helps! :goodvibes

There is a separate line and right when you walk into Classic Hall, the online check-in line is basically right there on your left.

That is true only if you are getting off the ME bus. If you drive, you will enter by a different door and it will be the last line on the right. There is a picture of a computer screen with a big check mark in it.

hey everyone! my bf and I just got back from our first stay at POP (may 22-29). we had requested a king renovated room. we did online check in 4 days before we were to arrive. we got to POP at 11am and there was no one on either the online check in line or regular line. check in took 2 minutes! our room was not ready but the CM told us that both our requests were honored, yay! we headed to epcot for the day and came back to room 6122 in the 70s -- a standard room. it was EXTREMELY quiet. we didn't hear ANYONE during the entire trip!! i was surprised since it was on the ground floor but it was perfect. the toilets flushing from the floors above you can be noisy but closing the bathroom door fixes that. it was less than a minute walk to the food court, bus stops and the hippy dippy pool.

the curtain separating the sink area from the room was really nice, especially in the morning since i wake up earlier than my bf. we didn't find the new mattress hard at all, contrary to some other reports about them. we slept like babies after a full days at the parks! we dont have anything to report about mousekeeping since we kept the privacy please sign on the entire time (we wanted to lessen their workload!)

we will DEFINITELY be back. we will also definitely use online check in again and next time request the 70s :). we stayed at CSR last trip and prefer POP!

Odd question here about calling mousekeeping for extra towels before you head to the pool. When you call is it an automated service or do you speak to an actual person? I am hearing impaired and the worst for me is talking on the phone. I rely heavily on lip reading. I am afraid that if I call I won't be able to understand the person, especially if there is an accent involved. An automated service would be so much easier. I am traveling alone with my 3 kids so my Dh can't do it for me. I am tempted to just pack my own towels so I can avoid it but I hate to waste all that suitcase space. TIA!

Shel, I'm not hearing impaired and the thought of having to REMEMBER to call for more towels is just another thing I have to remember to do! :headache: Kidding aside, is your oldest child old enough to make the call, and he/she could speak to them and you, and you could lip-read and reply to the phone person, if it's a person? How is an automated system better for you tho? Just curious. :confused3 Have a great time!

We are getting soooo excited!!! 10 days!!! I haven't packed anything! :scared1:

I just wanted to pass along my MANY THANKS for this thread! We are going next week :cool1:, and I had a ton of questions, but being the good DISer I am, I LOOKED before asking, and I found ALL my answers RIGHT HERE!!! :thumbsup2 :cool1: This is an incredible thread. My 12yo DD loved it as well! :lovestruc The other night, after another visit to this thread, I typed up my fax request (thank you for the link), and then I couldn't find the fax number - until I looked again! :rolleyes1 It was ALL right here! :thumbsup2

This will be our 1st stay at POP, and everything I needed to know, I found right here! :worship:

LOVE the DIS and the amazing people who take so much time to help all the rest of us! :grouphug:

Thanks again!

Just a note about calling.....sometimes you can wait a REALLY long time, so be sure to do it right when you get there so you all aren't sitting around in your suits for hours waiting for towels ;) Sorry I don't have any HI suggestions, but sometimes at check-in they have 'special needs assistants' that maybe could arrange for the extra towels for you when you check in.

The day you check in, request extra towels be delivered to your room. Do this with the CM checking you in and explain why and your difficulty with the phone. Also what works for us is to leave an envelope in the room addressed to Mousekeeping with a note in in requesting they leave extra towels and washcloths. Has always worked.

Enjoy your stay.

We always leave a note for Mousekeeping daily that we would like extra towels.

I have not looked at this thread in a year and have not reviewed recent entries, so forgive me if this has been covered earlier.

I just sent POP a fax today and they told me to send it to: 407-938-4040.

I then called a few minutes later to confirm they got it.

It appears the number listed in the info section of this thread may now be wrong. Please investigate and update if needed.

On a positive note---thanks for keeping this thread alive. It was a tremendous resource for our first trip last year!

A towel cart is usually left by the elevator and guests may also take extra towels from that cart. Easy to find - it sits directly opposite the elevator! :goodvibes

Please remember your call to the resort go to a call center, not the resort directly. The call center oprs check with the resort. :thumbsup2

Automated systems generally use a person who talks in a clear, regular paced voice that is usually accent free (harder to understand an accent when you are hearing impaired). A good majority of regular people talk fast, mumble, etc on the phone which is why it is easier to hear an automated system vs. a live person. Does this make sense? I'm not deaf, just hearing impaired (there is a difference! ;)) so it is just a matter of being able to talk to someone who speaks clearly on the phone. Unfortunately that is very hard to come by these days.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will plan to leave a note with my tip each day! Never even thought of that! :sad2:

 Awe! Thanks, Kim! You are most welcome! It thrills me to know that you found so much value in Posts 1 & 2. There are so many people on here and those who are no longer lurking that contributed to its content. I just put it all in one place! Needless to say, it took me countless hours to get it where it is, which really was only an outcome of my personal need to learn about PC. I thought "Why should anyone else have to spend all this time like I did?! SHARE SHARE SHARE!" :rotfl:

So I appreciate you taking the time to review and more importantly, to take advantage of the benefit of having it all at your fingertips so you don't waste time researching or waiting for responses when you have better things to do! Thanks for taking the time to express your appreciation!

Glad you were able to come back to the DIS! The good thing about this thread is that you don't have to look at recent posts. Just as you did, you can see everything current in Posts 1 & 2.

Thanks for coming back to ensure we have current information out here! We've had several DIS friends who used the fax number listed in Post #1 with no issues. As you can imagine, a resort of that size is going to need more than one fax machine, thus fax number. :)

Hello, Shel! Have you considered requesting a TDD telephone in your room? Would that help at all? It's certainly something they will provide for you if you ask.

I am trying to put together our shopping list for the gardengrocer to deliver.

Could somone tell me if the food court at Pop sells quarts of milk or orange juice?

If you request a fridge for your room, do you definately get one or is based on a limited availability? Is is $10 a day?

TIA
