Hello Pop friends! :wave2:
Just got back from Pop this morning...we got a refurbed room in Building 6. (room 6311 to be exact!) I thought it was very nice but we had never stayed there before so can't compare to the old rooms! I had faxed a room request specifically for a refurbed room, but when we checked in, I mentioned that and they seemed to know nothing about my request. They were going to put us in building 10 but when I said I would be happy to wait while she checked, she came up with a refurbed room after all! Yay! Got into our room before 10 am and off to Epcot we went! Lots of pixie dust! :wizard: We loved staying there and had an absolutely great week! I am planning to write a mini trip report so stay tuned for that on the trip report board! :goodvibes

Was that a preferred room ????

We stayed at pop century the week after they opened. Our room was real nice. The whole place was nice. I was wondering if they finished building rooms across the lake. A couple of the buildings were there but not finished. Would like to know. Thanks :confused3

If you are referring to the "Legendary Years", no they haven't been finished and Disney doesn't have plans to do so.
With the economy the construction was put on hold a few years ago and now they are "outdated" and won't be finished.
It is a shame but as our bus driver said while we were down there...."never knew how they were going to make the depression decade fun..." LOL

I wish they would do something with those buildings on the other side of the lake. It's so weird to see something so unfinished at Disney. It's kind of spooky too. We would see the Legendary Years buildings on our way up and down our stairs at Pop last June. It kind of gave me the creeps! It just seems strange that they would add onto AKL and build BLT but not finish those buildings. I too always thought that those decades wouldn't be fun to stay at. I'd love to see Disney turn them into family suites, another value...something!

I agree with you they should finish or tear them down. I just does not seem like some thing disney would do. They have been there what about 6 years. :cool1:

DVC for the Value market? Seriously.

When my sister in law worked there she said that parts of the legendary years were finished and being used at a hub for cast members. She said that some parts are used for storage and some are used for a small amount of CMs.

I have a question - if you check out in the morning, but your plane doesn't leave until evening, is there a place to leave your luggage until your flight so you can go to the parks that day?

I dont think this poster meant for the suites to be DVC but to turn that area into value family suites like at ASMu. Disney cited the economic turndown for not finishing the legendary years but has since proceeded with construction of BLT and AKLV. This is a common complaint/frustration/request of Pop fans.

Seriously yes. They didn't mean DVC for values. They meant family suites as in ASmusic.

I happen to agree they totally dropped the ball here. It's disgraceful at this point. I accepted it when they said it was an economic decision. Now after so many years and other expansions, resort construction etc etc. they sunk money into that just doesn't fly. Finish it or tear it down.

No, I know what that poster meant. But think about it. The All Star Music Family Suites have been around for what? Three years? Four years? They're successful, right? Disney has a LOT of larger families visiting - families who would love to stay in one unit, but can't because the typical affordable* options only allow four people per room. They have this entire resort section planned. They COULD simply redesign the buildings to be ALL Family Suites... but they haven't, in all this time.

As the quoted poster points out, seemingly as a non sequiter, Disney continues to expand DVC. Okay. So, why NOT a DVC property marketed at a lower tier?

*yes, I know that means different things to different people

I was suggesting that they turn the Legendary Years into family suites like over at the All-Stars. It seems that they're pretty popular but they fill up quite quickly. That's all I was saying. :goodvibes

That idea has occurred to Disney !!! ;)I heard it was in the works 2 years ago but as nothing has happened I guess they changed their minds !!

englishrose47, Are you in Niagara Falls or Grand Island? I'm from Tonawanda!!! I love coming up now and taking my kids to the falls. And I LOVE the Seneca Casino! My trips up always allow for a few days at the casino!

I wish they would do something and I think the family suite is a great idea. I heard from someone that they were talking about it again though as tourism is picking up. I love the idea of family suites but I had a bad time at ASMu so we won't be using the F.S. there. With the way that some families are growing I think that more would come to WDW if they could stay together in a Value rather than paying to stay at a Mod. I know I am like that. If my family outgrows a single room, we won't be able to come back. As it is right now, with an 8 year old and a 3 year old, I would stay in a family suite just to have the extra space and a bedroom door to close for the little one.

I'm originally from Syracuse, but now we live in Tonawanda! :goodvibes I love living in Buffalo. It's such a great place to live.

I would love to see family suites that sleep 8. We're a family of seven and would love to be able to stay in a suite with a kitchen to help save money on food.

Dancegrl624~ The only thing I miss about living up there is Bocce's and Francos! I can gain about 50lbs in 2 days up there and OMG Sponge Candy! I'm not a cold weather person! I will be up there soon to visit and I usually spend about 3 weeks. I remember when I lived there, it was the middle of winter and I had to walk to St. Amelias....I remember laughing one day because I remembered the stories my mom would tell about walking to school, in the snow, uphill with a belt to hold her books! I do enjoy coming up in the middle of summer and having cool nights. Sometimes it is a drastic change from life here in Virginia!

I live super close to St. Amelia's. I love Duff's wings and Franco's is definately one of the best places to get pizza. I have to say, this winter wasn't that bad (in my mind anyways).
