With the thousands of people that stay at POP every year, why doesn't the management post updates on the refurb schedule? As a project manager for projects similar to these, it is an easy thing to do. Every night on this web site we see many, many people asking about this. Can anyone contact Pop mgt. and tell them to post updates regularly each day to let the 1'000's of us know. Also, taking pictures and posting them is easy, why isn't this done also. When I renovate factories, people love to see the progress pics and schedules so they can plan ahead. I would hope that someone there can do this!:surfweb:

They do show this kind of stuff on all ears and mousesavers I beleive. So check there every so often

anyone have pics of a refurbed room???

There are some on Allears, and also in the Pop refurbed thread.

Just back from the POP - the 80's ground floor (room 9119) were refurb'd and the 90's building top floor (next to the computer) were all blocked off as well. They were even painting the exterior to the building I was in during the day.

Loved the rooms but let me tell ya - I used to LOVE their beds and this time they killed me... hard..hard..hard.... But, it was a lovely room.

And, preferred rooms are overrated in my opinion - It is a short walk from anywhere on site. I have stayed in the 50's, 60's, and now 80's (I think) and they are all the same. Well...parking is fierce in front of the 80's/90's - everybody parked there instead of in the back. So I had to truck it from either the back or in front of the main building.

Lot's of kids this weekend, musical groups or something - for the most part very well behaved - no issues at all. :)

Oh - and I agree with the poster who previously said the CM's get the rooms mixed up. The front desk said I was in the 90's (room 9119) and I wasn't and next to smoking, and I wasn't... despite her saying I was. No biggie though...

:) Going through official withdrawl now - hurry up August. :)

So when you said you where next to smoking that was a area not a room was It?, sorry I have a smoker and they would probally jump out of there shoes If there was smokeing rooms. Sorry to all the non smokers:goodvibes

It's NOT a room. There's a dedicated thread/sticky near the top of this forum, for smoking in/at the resorts, and another sticky thread with resort maps showing the smoking areas (or they may be the SAME thread); briefly, though, there are locations along the walkway around the resort designated for smoking, along with a few others. They're relatively convenient to the various buildings, but NOT next to or near, and there are NO smoking rooms.

Nope, not the room - just wanted to be by a smoking area - sorry for the confusion...

Umm... I think you covered it.
Yep - there are areas - not rooms and I wasn't by ANY of them despite my request (which I know is not a given before anyone jumps on that). The closest one was around the building and across the pool area. I was so hoping to be near/next/by one. But I wasn't. No biggie. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has great trips!!:banana::banana:

Just booked a stay at Pop May 28 for 4 nights!! Thinking about surprising the kids. We will be in Daytona after Disney, so I may tell them we are going to the beach a few days earlier than the rest of the family. Then we will just head to Disney instead of the beach!!
Thanks for all the great info on this thread!!

We just returned from our first visit and we loved POP  We had requested a 4th floor room in the 60's by the pool but when we arrived we were given the very last room in the back end up building 5 of the 60's. We were all really disappointed with the location so I went back up and they were so accomodating and gave us a room in building 4 facing the pool, it was a perfect location. Every CM we came accross at POP was wonderful and very helpful. We look forward to staying at POP again :)

With the new rooms, have they change the beds? I ask because that is the only thing we don't like about this resort. The beds were so bad last May.

I would think they are changing the beds. But all are stays in Disney those beds were so nice. When we stay at POFQ you roll in the middle those seriously need to be replaced. Sorry they weren't great for you.

Yes they have changed the mattresses, and it is said the new ones are hard as a rock...It surprises me that they did this, as they just changed them 1 1/2 years ago. I personally have never had a bad bed at Pop and I have a bad back. So sad to hear they are hard now. Hopefully they will get broke in soon.

I LOVED the beds at Pop last June. I wonder why they decided to change them? I'm hoping they are nice and comfy by our Sept trip!

We just got back as well. You were in room 9119 in the 80's?! We were in room 9223 in the 80's!

Ok we stayed at POP last year and we love it. Just has that Disney feel to us. We are staying at the AKL bounce back this year. But I'm not overly excited for some reason.
The reason we are staying at AKL because there is a balcony because the kids sometimes go to be early. Dh and I like to stay up later. So we are thinking 2 rooms at POP would be better. We would save 700.00 buckaroos. Plus have a ton more space.

I know a connection room isn't a given. But if I put that on my reservation what are my chances of not getting connecting rooms? We are under a bounce back so I'm not even sure at this point if I can get 2 rooms or not. The promo has expired. They did upgrade me from CBR to AKL with no problem but we were upgrading and we weren't adding a room.

We just stayed at Pop Century and requested connecting rooms. They said they can only guarantee adjoining rooms if the number of children outnumbers the adults. This wasn't the case with us, but we bugged them enough about it and we got adjoining rooms.
