You didn't say if you requested prefereed rooms I would say 60's or 70's would be the best !!! 50's can be a distance from both!!

I didn't book preferred. I had read somewhere that it wasn't worth it at the POP. I think I like the 70's Building. My boys will love that Big Wheel!

Pop is a small resort, so there really isn't anywhere that is secluded. We always felt very safe.

Thanks. I was always under the impression it was a very large resort. But looking at the map, it doesn't look that large.

. We were on the second floor. Real close to everything, I felt real safe. I would suggest a higher floor, it feels safer to me. !

My DH suggested that I request an upper floor, but I'm skeptical about the elevator banks/hallways in the evenings. I was thinking the first floor for convenience with the stroller too.

I think it's just NYC paranoia thats in me! :rotfl: I'm always thinking the "what ifs".

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. It really makes me feel better knowning everyone feels safe there. :goodvibes

We have stayed at the Pop for the last two years and are staying there again in June for 8 nights. It's not a huge resort, so booking a preferred room, in my opinion, is not worth the added expense.

I can't wait for our trip - I LOVE the POP!!!

I just called Pop because we check in tomorrow and I want a refurbed room and the CM told me all of building 6 is preferred now. I told her no, some of bldg 6 is preferred and she insisted that it just changed to the whole building 6 is preferred.

Does anyone know anything about this? We all know CMs can be wrong but she sounded like she knew. :confused3

I was just at Pop March 3-8 and I had a first-floor room in '70s building. Great spot! and, nope, not refurbed.

Had a wonderful time there and I'll be certain to book there again! i was a little :snooty:, but it was very good time. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately when you call any disney resort we do not get the resort, but a call center who answers by the resort name, so it is not a CM at the resort at all. These changed several years ago - calls do not even go to the front desk from the room phone.

The CM you spoke with is a call center operator and they have only whatever info has been given them, not always the most up to date.

Be sure to ask at check-in, before you get your keys, if a refurbed room is available.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes

That CM could be thinking "building 6" equals "the Sixties". She'd still be wrong, but there are four times as many Preferred rooms in either 60's building than there are in building 6.

If she was right, you'll probably be the first to know. NOT likely, it'd have been posted here on the DIS by now, or at least on www.wdwinfo.com.

DH and I love the 70's building. It's close enough to the food court but far enough away that you get some peace and quiet.
We have been lucky to always stay on the fourth floor 70's facing the lake, there are usually hot air balloons in the sky which is really neat to see first thing in the morning. The elevators are very reliable, just don't try to run to catch one. We watched one lady run for our elevator, slip on some water and went down hard. She was okay, her food that she had had seen better days.

i've tried finding the answer, but somehow can't seem to find it... my sister and i are staying at POP in september (12th - 19th) - does anybody know if the refurb of the resort is scheduled to be completed by then?

With the thousands of people that stay at POP every year, why doesn't the management post updates on the refurb schedule? As a project manager for projects similar to these, it is an easy thing to do. Every night on this web site we see many, many people asking about this. Can anyone contact Pop mgt. and tell them to post updates regularly each day to let the 1'000's of us know. Also, taking pictures and posting them is easy, why isn't this done also. When I renovate factories, people love to see the progress pics and schedules so they can plan ahead. I would hope that someone there can do this!:surfweb:

They won't do it. They'll say it's proprietary information, or that while they have a schedule planned, they can't guarantee work will be done in the time planned, or any number of things.

Can you imagine the outrage on the disboards if they fell behind the posted schedule?

There are already so many people who expect compensation from Disney over every little thing that doesn't go according to their plan (crowded parks, long lines, no available ADRs, rain, etc.) that Disney will never open themselves up like that.

Great Idea,It does not hurt to ask and maybe if enough of us ask maybe they will think about it:goodvibes

Just back from the POP - the 80's ground floor (room 9119) were refurb'd and the 90's building top floor (next to the computer) were all blocked off as well. They were even painting the exterior to the building I was in during the day.

Loved the rooms but let me tell ya - I used to LOVE their beds and this time they killed me... hard..hard..hard.... But, it was a lovely room.

And, preferred rooms are overrated in my opinion - It is a short walk from anywhere on site. I have stayed in the 50's, 60's, and now 80's (I think) and they are all the same. Well...parking is fierce in front of the 80's/90's - everybody parked there instead of in the back. So I had to truck it from either the back or in front of the main building.

Lot's of kids this weekend, musical groups or something - for the most part very well behaved - no issues at all. :)

Oh - and I agree with the poster who previously said the CM's get the rooms mixed up. The front desk said I was in the 90's (room 9119) and I wasn't and next to smoking, and I wasn't... despite her saying I was. No biggie though...

:) Going through official withdrawl now - hurry up August. :)
