Thanks all!

Yes, the person on the scooter I did not have an issue with...it was their entourage of 15+ people, seriously, we all counted how many people loaded up with this one person, so I'll get a grip if you do.

SW has permanently started RAC so it was excellent! I honestly don't know if we'd made our flight if I didn't use it.

Sweet (GOLD PEAK) tea was great too!

ETA:
FWIW: Last year we were a Grand Gathering of 13 people. My husbands aunt rented a scooter since she had knee replacement. She REFUSED to load before her spot in line (which one of us held), she got applause each time we loaded the bus.

We'll be heading back, did bounceback for 14 days next year.

I was scheduled on the 9:45 am ME yesterday and didn't get on a bus until 11:15am, for a 12:40pm flight to PHL. Luckily for me, I chose to fly SW this year instead of Spirit and that I used RAC.

I did not know that Southwest was now participating in RAC.

Brooke

This also happened on September 28th. We made it on the bus, but a sweet family with two little kids couldn't find a seat and had to wait for the next bus. I think this is really wrong. They shouldn't schedule them so full that if someone accidently misses their bus it causes these kind of problems for people who legitamitly got there on time.

Another option would be to tell the family that was late so sorry get a taxi. Mean but why should someone who's on time have to suffer for someone elses poor decision.

Thanks all!

Hey there "Philly girl" I am going to be flying in/out of Philly too, I truly hope that this doesn't happen to us, because we are on the last flight out of MCO that SW has (7:30p) I'm not sure to use RAC yet or not, I have such a fear of them "losing" my luggage! But thanks for the heads up-- speaking of the ECV we had a problem with them last time--not only the people that were driving them--that RAMMED into my ankles since I wasn't going fast enough--bc of them person in front of me, but the entrogue of people with them:lmao:

Wow, I sure am happy I rented a minivan. I can just imagine my wife while 15 people cut in front.

4 more days until we arrive at POP!!! I can't believe it! I've got laundry, sewing, and packing to do!! :cool1:

We just got back from Pop yesterday and it was wonderful! I miss the juice and the frozen cokes for the refillable mugs. But, they still had hot cocoa, which my son was thrilled with (yes, even on those 95 degree days).

I was so pleased that my room was always nice and cool when we got back from the parks. I had read something about a motion sensor thermostat and I was worried that it would be hot when we got back. But, it wasn't an issue.

I was in room 9137 and it was the PERFECT location. We were very close to the buses- we couldn't have been much closer. Classic Hall was pretty close, too. I was glad that we got such a great location without paying for a preferred room. I've always paid for a preferred room before and the room location was never any better than this one.

I have to agree with the person who mentioned the ECVs with their entourages. I completely understand the need for people to use ECVs and I understand why it takes up more room on the bus. I have no problem with that. I don't really understand why they are put in the front of the line when there are 3 buses worth of people waiting to board. Several times, we were waiting through several buses and thought we'd get on the next one when an ECV with quite a few people would pull up at the last minute, and we'd have to wait for the next bus. I in no way blame the people on the ECVs. I even understand why they'd want to keep their whole group together. I just wish that Disney had a more efficient process in which to get the ECVs to their destination.

I just got back late last night :)
First time at the POP, stayed in the 50's building facing the lake. Nice place, room cool and clean. A bit away from the main building but it was still ok.

I drove down, Mom rented an ECV at the park for the first time-it was something she will do again. I never thought about the ECV's on the buses because we rented one there. If we go we will take one with us in the van. Seems easier and she does not care for the buses at all - so we drive to the parks. She did have problems going through the park due to some people not being considerate, she actually was ran into by strollers a couple of times. I can't figure out why someone would slam their precious darlings in the way of an ECV but I figured they were on some kind of mission... :confused3 All in all it allowed her to go into the parks which was a good thing - she missed out on them previously. :thumbsup2

Loved the POP, had a great time, got a couple towel animals too!

HeatherSue, what building & floor was your Room 9137? I'm putting a request in tomorrow and would love to be in the best location but don't want to seem rude and request a specific room!! lol

Thanks!! (Only 51 days till our first Disney trip!!)

You can always tell where a room is by looking at the room number. The first digit is the building number and the second digit is the floor, so HeatherSue's room was in building 9, first floor.

I was in building 9 as well and loved the location! We were in room 9357.

You are right not to request a specific room, not because it's rude, but because there's a good chance that room won't be available. If you request a specific room and it isn't available, the room assigners have no idea why you wanted that room.

UGH-We are so excited about our trip, but my MIL just threw a wrench in it. She's suppose to be joining us for the whole trip (She lives in Florida)(We arrive Friday)but just called to let us know she had something else come up and will be a couple of days late. We have the free dining so I'm worried this is going to cause us problems at check-in. Has POP been insisting everyone is present at check-in?

hi there...we have done 4 free dining trips (2 at Pop Century) and never had to have all people present to check in, so you should not have any problems.

I have a question about the internet service at the Pop.
Next year I am taking my 2 daughter's who are in college and will have to have there laptops for school work.
They both have wireless, but I just don't understand about all this internet service for them.
Could some one please tell me how all this works so I can let them know. I do understand that they will have to pay 10.00 a day for it, but how will they get to use it. Do we have to get with a internet company in Orlando and pay them also for service? And what are the dial up numbers they can use?
Please help
thank you

I've never been to POP (will be there tomorrow) but I was assume the Internet connection is just like any hotel. You connect (via wireless or internet jack in the room) and open a browser. The proxy will direct you to where it informs you of the charge, you agree or pay and off you go. If you are not Internet savy, I'm sure your daughters will have no problems. Also, there is usually a help line if you run into issues.

Is the connection at Pop wireless or wired?

Wired.

Ok, more questions-- I want to go to minigolf--
1st- which is the best one
2nd- how do I get there--like do I take a bus to closest park and then change to the resort that is closest (that's lots of travel)

also- I drink green tea- and make ALL of my family what is the best way to get BOILING water? I will be bringing my own tea bags.

and I did call and put my request in for a end room and upper floor-- now from previous posts I think that I have done something wrong--I would love to be in bldg 9 but my biggest concerns are upper flr and corner room-should I not have requested or not reiderate my request??

Thanks!

We just got back from a week at Pop Century and here are the things I noticed.

1. This time we used a shower curtain (from the dollar store) and two command hooks to provide privacy in the vanity area. We put up the hooks a few inches away from the frame of the doorway into the vanity area. With this configuration we didn't have any gaps between the frame and curtain as we have had in the past with a tension rod. My very modest son appreciated this a lot.

2. We did NOT get the room we requested, I got one I ended up liking much more:rotfl2: We were in room 3116. It was on the back side of the 50's building overlooking the lake. It was so peaceful and had an amazing view of the lake. The little bunnies and ducks wandered around outside our room. It could not have been more relaxing. For anyone considering a honeymoon/couples retreat I would recommend a room overlooking the lake with a King sized bed.

3. We had amazing bus service. Only once did we wait more than a couple of minutes for a bus. The bus from DHS at around 3:30 in the afternoon took 45 minutes and every other resort had busses come and go and then come and go and then come and go again before the bus finally arrived. So, other than that one oddity, the busses were plentiful and often.

4. We took two cabs while we were there. One night we took a cab home from having dinner at Cape May Buffet and another night we took a cab home from the Contemporary and California Grill. The prices were $15 and $20 with tip. For far less than the cost of one days rental, plus gas, we were able to enjoy eating in resorts for dinner and not worry about a long two stage trip to get back to the hotel.

5. I tended to be at breakfast right at 6:00 when they opened or 6:30 at the latest, but during the "regular" breakfast times it was CRAZY busy. If you like to have a counter service breakfast before hitting the parks then be prepared for full contact breakfasting. I tried to pick up fruit and yogurt the night before and put it in our refrigerator. I even got mugs of non carbonated drinks and put them in the fridge, too. The food was good, but eating at off hours seems necessary.

6. We tucked the pack and play between the Armoire and the closet wall. It fit perfectly and was out of the way. By placing it there it didn't seem to eat up too much of the "floor space."

7. This pressure assist toilet was so much louder than other assisted commodes on property. Our toilet was so noisy we loving referred to it as a "space shuttle launch." We decided to let liquids marinate overnight if anyone needed the potty during sleeping hours. Solids of course need to be flushed away, but the sound was astonishing.

We drink green tea as well. Bring a hot pot to make boiling tea. The hot water in the restaurant is not hot enough to brew a good cup of tea. In the past, it has done an o.k. job, but this time it was not up to the task.
