Quick question. We arrive to POP next wednesday and Im trying to do the online check in or whatever...I want to stay in the 80s section king size bed. Now when i go to put my room requests in it already has the King size bed in there (guess my TA did it?) but not the 80s section...so now when i click the add room requests all that comes up is add pak and play or add fridge...why isnt this working or am i doing this wrong?:guilty: any info would be great...TIA

You're not doing it wrong. Those are the only things you can request with the online checkin. If you want to add in the 80's request, you'll need to call your TA. I did my request over the phone (booked through WDW directly), but it didn't show up at all when I did the online checkin. But I did get my requests.

Same here. I stayed there Sept 30 through Oct 10 just passed and booked through my TA and made some requests with regard to room placement and bedding etc, nothing showed up on my online check in but we got what the TA asked for.

Ditto, we did our reservations through Disney and got everything we asked for via a phone call.

OK- more questions-- if we go swimming is it better to bring our own beach towels from home?? The bath towels from b4 were, well bath towels-small and also- if we check in (I'm doing online check 10 days b4 if that is available-- don't really kno what the advantage is but) @ 10-11am when we arrive will our room be ready then?? or do we have our luggage held ?? Is it possible to take our OWN luggage to the room-like do they carts- we will have all of our luggage plus are in a fridge swap-- I really don't want to have to wait for them to "feel like" taking my stuff but if they have carts- no problem I can wheel my own stuff there. TIA

bring our own beach towels from home?? Yes, you can, and yes the room towels are small. I always bring a beach towel from home.

I'm doing online check ===== Online check in is great, When I got there last month I was in, got my packet, room key and out within 2 mins. While the other line had people in it. You will be ready

Is it possible to take our OWN luggage to the room-like do they carts? If you are using Disney Express your luggage will be brought to your room within 2 hours of arriving, something shorter. They do have carts for your fridge swap and when you check in to get that swap you can ask for a cart.

If you are not using Disney Express from the airport the Pop does have carts for any type of service you need.

I will never use a TA, because if you do and need to call disney they will not help you, they will tell you that you need to call your TA. And your TA might not do your ADR's for you

I like the fact that I can do everything myself, book, request, adr's, pay and anything else by using disney online or calling.

I used the bath towels at the hotel - saved room in my bag initially. But I was travelling from the other side of the world and space was premium.

Online check in just made the whole check in process easier, when we got there (approx 8.30pm) I just walked up to counter, gave them my passport as ID and bingo - envelope appeared with all our stuff in it. The check in took about 2 mins. And when you've been on a plane for 24 hours, you're dog tired and the insides of your eyelids feel like sandpaper, it was really appreciated.

Your room may or may not be ready at that time of the day as official check in is later in the afternoon, but if your room isn't ready they'll store your bags for you, and text you a message when your room is available.

As far as luggage went, they took our luggage up straight away for us when we checked in. We walked up with the guy who put our suitcases on a trolley and showed us to our room. Greatly appreciated after a long flight. I don't know if you're allowed to use the carts yourself.

My TA was no problem at all, I used Dreams Unlimited.

Just returned from a 3 night/4 day stay at Pop Century. It was just my boyfriend and myself in a standard room, no kids. I didn't request anything as far as room location goes, just decided to wing it (I have the worst luck anyway, figured it wouldn't help! ) We wound up, surprise surprise, back in building 7, which is 80s, Rodger Rabbit. When I saw it on a map and we started walking I chuckled because it looks pretty far from the main building. And then when we weren't facing the computer pool I assumed we'd be facing the parking lot. We were in room 7260, right on the corner. Turns out we had trees right outside and if we cut across the parking lot, it was a very short walk to the bus, so I was thrilled

I just stayed at Coronado Springs at the beginning of August and found the resort to be just too big for me. While I don't know if Pop is actually larger than CSR, it felt much more manageable to me.

Now for the negatives: While daily mousekeeping was adequate and fine (I got my first towel animal ever...and it kind of made my trip!!) I could see some things that long term needed to be addressed and I think if there weren't so many cut backs at Disney (at least I hope that's what it is!) wouldn't be there. Things like a lime ring around the shower head, a stain on the wall, and a stain on the carpet. Nothing terrible, and because I travel so much for work, I've seen a lot worse! The one day one of our towels had about a quarter sized hole in it. Since there were only two of us, I just used another, not the end of the world, but also not what I expect at Disney. Since we were staying on the 2nd floor, I could hear people above us. And whenever any room around us flushed or took a shower, we heard the water. You don't really hear that in a moderate or deluxe.

Now that I have that out of the way ;) We loved Pop. I loved the theming of the resort! The food court was so much more efficient than Contempo Cafe (at the Contemporary) when we stopped over for dinner the one night that it wasn't even funny. The beds were comfortable, I didn't have any problems falling asleep (like I do in some hotels.) And we didn't have any problems with the air conditioner. Would I stay at Pop again? Absolutely. I will probably request a high floor, try and help with some of the noise.

I'm going to load some pictures in and then post them to the photo thread. I'll come back and link to it in this post.

Thanks for the great review. We leave in 3 days and I'm getting excited. My daughters ages are 4 and 1 1/2. I only requested 60's facing the lake. Heck if I get any room in the 60's I would be happy. Was POP really crowded?

Pop was busy, but I wouldn't really say it was crowded.

The parks though? I haven't seen that busy in ages, especially in October. On Saturday we hit AK first, then Epcot...which I expected to be crowded, but I was there on Dec 26, 2008 (day after Christmas) and it wasn't as bad as it was on Saturday, then over to MK. And every park was busy. I was shocked. Thursday & Friday weren't as bad. Sunday we only went to DTD. DTD was packed. I have no idea where everyone was coming from!!

I'm FINALLY doing the 99 day double digit dance. Pop ... here we come ... in 99 days! 99 long days!

Hi Heather! I believe I saw your stroller (with your LGMH) in DHS on Wednesday near TSM. We stayed at POP too in the 70's section. I hope you had a great time!!:goodvibes
You saw my stroller? How awesome! I wish we would have ran into each other! My stroller has a bag on the bag that has my lime green mickey head with "HeatherSue" in the middle ironed right on. I also hung a LGMH from the side of it.

HeatherSue, what building & floor was your Room 9137? I'm putting a request in tomorrow and would love to be in the best location but don't want to seem rude and request a specific room!! lol

Thanks!! (Only 51 days till our first Disney trip!!)

Jenni
Sorry I didn't see your post! Someone else already answered that it was a first floor room in building 9. The perfect location!

I have a question about the internet service at the Pop.
Next year I am taking my 2 daughter's who are in college and will have to have there laptops for school work.
They both have wireless, but I just don't understand about all this internet service for them.
Could some one please tell me how all this works so I can let them know. I do understand that they will have to pay 10.00 a day for it, but how will they get to use it. Do we have to get with a internet company in Orlando and pay them also for service? And what are the dial up numbers they can use?
Please help
thank you
Penni

I wasn't real happy with the internet service, especially for the price. You have to use a cable that they provide in the room to plug your computer in. The cable isn't very long. So, you have to sit in the uncomfortable chairs to be on your laptop. I finagled it so I could just reach the bed one morning. But, it wasn't easy! It was kind of slow and I always had a hard time connecting to the internet. Some days it just didn't connect at all! I expected something to pop up automatically when I plugged in the cord, but it didn't. I always had to restart my computer for it to recognize the internet connection. Even then it didn't always work. They weren't much help with the situation at the front desk. I wouldn't pay for it again unless I needed it for my business (which is why I got it this time).

Oneslilspark, I looked at your pictures, which are beautiful, but I have a question. What is the food that is kind of round and flat (don't know how else to describe)--looks like a breakfast item with potatoes and onions maybe? It looks good and am just wondering what it is.

Thanks!

It must have been something with your cable or port. After I found out it was a cabled connection in the room, I brought my 25 ft cable with me so I could be online in my bed while the kids slept (mostly on here and TGM). The connection was stable and fast enough to do anything I needed to do. BTW, you can go to the Disneyworld site (text only though) and Photopass for no charge.

Where do you think is the best location to put the pack & play in a standard double room?

I was looking at either moving the table & chairs closer to the window and putting the P&P next to the TV cabinet or putting it in between the bed and door.

If you've BTDN tell me what worked best for you.

TIA!

I would agree - move the tables and chairs to the window and put the pack and play where the table normally is.

BUT remember the power outlets on that wall.

Perfect! Thanks for the confirmation Oz-kateer!
And since there's no better time than the present I'm going to throw my outlet covers into my Disney stash bag! I love that I'm getting close enough to start throwing things into a bag when I think of them!

Hooray! :wizard:
