correct, along with hot chocalate, and coffee. (I don't drink coffe, but DH does) The powerade was fruit punch.

it opens at 6, but only limited stuff is available. I beleive around 6:30 or 7 the rest starts to open up.

Have fun! I wish I was in your suitcase! :rotfl:

They've got rid of coffee too?? What do people do for hot drinks now then? Just tea?
Thanks

Ok we have only been here 2 hours and everything perfect the service is fast and courteous. Ready hit our luggage and on the way back from the pool I asked a mouse keeper for extra towels and she gave my dd a towel animal!

Glad you are having a maigcal time

No they still have those. The apple juice is regular apple juice in a container. I think it is minute maid brand? I think bubble kind would be the kind that is like kid wine?

We are just back from the Pop, March 14-21st and we had a wonderful time. Thanks to all those on the boards for all the advice. We really found the Pop to be perfect for us and well worth the money. We are just 2 adults and a 2 year old and the room was fine for us. They brought bed rails for him and he slept the best this trip than any other we have taken. I requested a quieter room and we were in building 2 of the 50's section facing the lake on the end of the third floor. It could not have been more perfect. We did not hear any noise and the walk to the main building was short. I had heard a lot of things about the loud toilets and they are loud, but we did not find that they woke us up at night or anything.

The pools were great and our son loved the kiddie pool, we spent a lot of time there. I found the service personnel to be friendly for the most part and the food at the resort was fine as well. I had heard bad things about the coffee and we are big coffee drinkers, but it was fine. The refillable mugs are a great deal and well worth the money. We filled them up all the time.

The buses were fine as well. We seemed to have good luck getting one soon after we arrived at the bus stop. The longest we had to wait was 30 minutes at the animal kingdom to get back, but other than that they were fine.

All in all, I would highly recommend the Pop. We went to dinner at some of the other resorts and they were certainly nice, but we were barely in the room and we have a 2 year old that could not be out for long periods of time so I suspect that if you have older children, you are in the room even less than us.

Anyway, if you have any questions, let me know.

Glad you enjoyed Pop !! This May will be my third time there and I really don't see me staying any where else !! All I want is a clean room with a comfy bed a decent foodcourt and pleasant staff! Pop has all of these so why go elsewhere !!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents to this thread!

My husband and I stayed at Pop Century (uh---but we like calling it 'Pop Land'----inside joke, I guess) March 7-14. It was our first on-property stay. We absolutely loved it!

It was nice for once NOT to have to rent a car and commute all around. . .

From Orlando Airport to Pop Century was just shy of an hour on the M.E. (stopped off at Carribean Beach Resort, first)

Pop was wonderful!!

Our room request was simply, 'a quieter room' and 'preferably on the top floor'. (did this at time of booking and didn't bother to mention it again----figured we'd just get what we get) We were given a room in building 09, on the top floor and it was quite perfect for us. We could see the pool, but it was distant enough not to be a distraction. (noise-wise)

We laughed at our 'musical toilet' the whole trip---even had to take a picture of it so we could laugh later. . . It made the expected, overly dramatic flush. . .but then made a high pitched whistle afterwards. . . .o.k., probably not funny to anyone but us. . .Ha! Did have some drainage issues in the sink the first night and had to call for some assistance. Water would not drain and was leaking under the sink a bit. Someone from maintenance came with a little plunger and it helped a bit. Later in the week we had a slow draining tub, but overnight it drained and it never again was an issue. . .not really complaining. . .certainly didn't cloud our experience! Afterall, stuff like this happens at home, too!

The room was in decent shape and stayed about the same throughout. When we were just checking in, a friendly mousekeeper popped in (the door was open as we just had Garden Grocer deliver some stuff to our room) and delivered a 'welcome' towel monkey for our window ledge. Now, I knew about these well in advance from the DisBoards. . .but it was a new novelty for my husband. He wasn't so sure what to think about it----but got hooked on them as the week progressed!!!!----as we received a few more----great fun!)

Thought the mattresses and pillows were wonderful (I know everyone has their own opinion, here). The firmness was great. Uh. . .we came home and ordered a new mattress. . .having realized how sad ours had become! :)

We enjoyed walking around the resort in the wee hours of the morning. . . usually an hour before the buses began running. Enjoyed the great photo opportunities, etc. For it being a 'value' resort, I was pleased to see the usual Disney attention to detail when it came to the landscaping, etc. It was very pleasant!

Made use of the food court on a few occasions. Mid afternoon decision for a burger on arrival day was a poor choice (too dried out)-----but we soon discovered the chicken alfredo!!! It was quite delicious! The chicken was a good 6oz. breast and juicy! Filling and satisfying! We often found coming back from the parks at night, if we were a little hungry. . .we'd order up the chicken alfredo----sometimes to share. . .and sometimes NOT. I wish I had tried a few other options (like the veggie lasagna or the flatbreads), but hey. . .always next year. . .

Was concerned about the buses after reading various threads. . . NEVER a problem. I don't think we ever waited more than 10 minutes at most----and generally, it was less. The buses made our trip much less stressful (not having to drive)-----but there were a few times late at night where it would have been nice to be in a quiet car vs. the full, noisy bus. . . I asked my husband if next time he'd rather return to having a car. . .he said, 'no'----so it couldn't have been all that bad, right?

We don't have the luxury of knowing when we'll be able to take our vacation time next year----so we couldn't take advantage of the 20% book-now discount posted in our room just before our departure (30% for moderates). . . but we wouldn't hesitate to return to Pop Century next year! We've fallen in "love" with Pop Century and will certainly keep it near the top of the list when planning our next trip to The World!!!! :cloud9:

Sooo glad you enjoyed POP like so many of us!! Loved your descriptions of things....you made this Monday morning a bit easier for me, as I'm dreaming of Disney (& Pop) now!!!:cloud9:

So glad you had a great trip and stay at POP. :goodvibes

It doesn't matter which resort we choose as long as we enjoy it and have as an enjoyable stay as you did! ::yes::

Thanks for a terrific review! :goodvibes

I have 2 weeks to wait on my trip, I cannot wait to see Pop after all of this great info. So when I check in what should I ask for? Top Floor, what era? Where are the best rooms? Will they give me a free upgrade? What would be an upgrade?

Mel,
Did u book standard or preferred room ? That would make a difference.

We just had preferred, bldg 6 (Mickey phone bldg) on 4th floor. It does help cut down on the noise. We didn't have toilets flushing overhead. I like "close to food court". That is my most important goal when staying at POP. Most preferred rooms will get you this.

As for the standard bldgs, they are in some of the 70's, as well as the 80's and 90's bldgs. Some don't mind those bldgs, but we do not really like the 80's and 90's so we always book preferred now.

 Mel,

If you haven't added requests to your reservation it would be good to do it now or have your TA do so, if you used a TA. :)

As Maria mentioned, if you have not booked a preferred room location, then it depends on what area of the resort you like - if you want to be near the food court, a quiet area, be able to see the lake, fireworks etc...Many variables!

Areas in the 60's bldgs 4 & 5 and 70's bldg 10 that are not preferred are still pretty close to the food court and very nice locations. 4th floor is always the quietest, but many guests prefer the 1st floor.

You can also work with the CM at check-in and nicely ask if they could try to find a room in an area near the food court, quiet or a room where you can see the fireworks - whatever area you think you'd enjoy. Check out the maps on the first page of this thread and see what appeals to you most. :)

The only upgrade at POP would be from std location to pref location, but this does not happen often and only when the resort is not full. All rooms are exactly the same, some are closer to the food court, bus etc. - these are considered "preferred" a category which can be booked, if available.

POP is a fun resort - be sure to take the time to walk around the lake and read the signs! ::yes::
Have a great trip!!! :thumbsup2

thank you! thank you! I am soooo excited, my DD is 7 years old and she is beside herself. Pop has so many cool things.....I might burst, it is our first trip ever to WDW.

How exciting!!! Be sure to post when you get back and let know us how much fun you had!! :cool1:

Any other questions, ask away! :goodvibes

So I think I will fax Pop 5 days prior to my arriving with the following instructions (let me know what you think)

4th Floor of the 60's section (Fireworks view) - if possible
Celebrating all 3 of our birthday
First Time Visit for all 3 of us

What do you think?

Thank you so much for these boards!

DH and I were planning on going to WDW in September and staying at CSR with DxDDP because we had a bounceback offer booked - however, plans changed and we cannot travel this year, so we are traveling in January 2010.

Because we didn't have the bounceback, we had to book a value to make up for the cost the bounceback would have saved us - we were a little hesitant at first because we had stayed at All Star Sports before, and although we loved it, we were really psyched about CSR...

Then I saw this thread and I am SO EXCITED to be going to Pop! The food court looks amazing, the pools look like fun, the lake gives it a bit more than a value feel, and I am really psyched about the nostalgia!

Thank you thank you thank you for all your hard work OP and the rest of you for pumping us up to get into our room at POP!!! :goodvibes
