Are there any room requests you would recommend making?!? We are going in October with family and booking the rooms soon...just wanted to see if there are certain areas or certain requests that you make to have a better experience at POP? If not ill just wing it haha

Depends on what you want. Do you want to be close to the pool? Close to the parking lot? Quiet? 1st floor, 4th floor etc?

I would perfer quiet, but we are early risers either way. Also I was hoping to be somewhat close to the bus area....without paying the extra money for a preferred room

Now that you mention..yes, my European friends do say "sleeps"!

I like for the same reasons..I never count the day I leave, but friends do, so "sleeps" covers it perfectly! ::yes::

I think "sleeps" just sounds kind of funny. I think I'd be more likely to just say "nights."

We've always used something similar to talk about Christmas. You only have to go to bed 3 more nights until you wake up and it's Christmas!

I requested the quiet room in the POP! Maybe the first floor!

I always feel guests who have first floor rooms are brave! I've read about snakes, bugs and weirdest of all - white worms infesting a POP first floor room.. A couple of years back there was an entire thread about the white worms in rooms, luggage...even went home with a guest. Yuck!

In December 2005 we were coming out of the elevator near Tramp and there was rat sitting up on it's hind legs, nibbling something in his paws. I let out a squeal, but he didn't budge....relaxed as could be. He was right next to a 1st fl room..if someone had opened the door it could have run right in!

We stopped by guest services to report it, but the CM kept saying it must have been a rabbit!! We assured him that we truly knew the difference between a rat and a rabbit!! :rotfl:

Do be careful!

EEK!:scared1: We are supposed to stay at Pop for the first time in May but now that has me freaked out!

That was no Rat...That was Mickey Mouse!! :rotfl2:

Oh, don't let that stop you from POP!! We've seen rats (hey, Mickey's a MOUSE!! ;) ) at other Disney resorts..moderate and deluxe.

My only reason for mentioning it is that we would not stay in a first floor room at ANY resort!! We always request an upper floor.

The critters are very used to guests....we're visiting their home turf!!

I guess I've been lucky then because I've visited WDW 12 times and never seen a rodent and Mickey's the only mouse I want to see. The only things we've seen are the little lizards but I just know this time I'll be looking around a lot more closely:lmao:

We have stayed in Disney Hotels about 20 times always first floor never a problem

Consider youselves blessed!! :thumbsup2

In 30+ yrs and 50 Resort stays we've seen critters here 'n there...and even though it's not every stay, it stands out when one does have such an encounter! ;)

Nope never seen any critters at Pop really, in about 8 stays there.

We stayed on the first floor (last trip for first time) in the 1980s and loved it as I ride a scooter and it was so much easier than dealing with trying to get the scooter on and off those elevators

So far all our requests for King Size Room have been honored at Pop (I know we are extremely lucky) but wondered if any other medical scooter riders have had a double room previously and had a scooter in the room for recharge?

On recharge do most of you bring it into the room or somehow just bring the batteries in to charge them??

I drive it right from our vehicle into the room as it is my own and only way it can charge is all assembled.

First of all...what are white worms ??

Critters I've seen at disney resorts : alligator, otters, BIG birds (don't even know the name but they're the size of ostrich), ducks, egrets, hawks, roaches, palmetto bugs, ants, love bugs, snakes, rabbits, armadillo, deer, toads and frogs.......(I've read a couple reports of cougars on these boards).

What I've had in my room : roach on the balcony of my 14th floor concierge Contemporary room---so that's saying you can get these anywhere (value or deluxe). Had a frog in my bathroom at OKW. Few ants here and there....nothing major. It's Florida as everyone has mentioned.

I know some on these boards have reported bed bugs---and I've mostly heard about this in mods and deluxe resorts....so again, they can be anywhere.

Won't stop me from going to WDW..........

Tried to do a search, but it must not go back that far...it was a few yrs ago. Cannot recall if it was a review or a post on a POP thread.

The DIS member said he found worms all over the walls in the POP room (he was much more descriptive) and when they got home their suitcases were filled with the worms. I think he said the worms were on the floor too - the things were everywhere, but the family did not request a room change. :confused3

Wish I could find the post as lots of other DISers shared stories too.
Besides having seen rats on various occasions at different resorts (while staying there), the worms convinced us to never stay in a first floor room.

I'm happy we only read about such things rarely, but weird critters are encountered....like we've said, it's Florida.

We've never had a bug in a POP room, but a small family of roaches greeted us on our first Poly stay...1st floor room...we were moved to an upper floor. (Funny, over 20 yrs later, the only time we did not make any room requests, when we checked into the Poly we were assigned that same room! I explained to the CM that we would very much appreciate a different room as we'd had that room previously.:rotfl: )

We had a couple of palmetto bugs in a CR Tower room. We've been lucky.:thumbsup2

On year when we stayed at Coronado Springs, we saw a rat jump right out of bush, run across the terrace and into another bush. My mom talked to the manager and he called the exterminator right away. They were out the VERY next morning getting the job done. Needless to say we were impressed.

It has nothing to do with Pop and everything to do with Florida.

Yep Florida has all kinds of wonderful critters, of coarse other states do to but it seems as if they are everywhere in Florida.

We visited my fil in Jacksonville a couple of years ago and a lizard got into our car with us. Talk about being freaked out!! I was so afraid that it would jump on me while I was driving and cause me to wreck. Thank goodness dh got it out fairly quick
