You guys on here are wonderful. I'm staying at Pop for the first time this August with my DBF. He's never been to Disney so this is an exciting trip. I was worried about staying at a value, I've always gone with my family and my parents payed so we usually stay at OKW or a deluxe resort ;) but Pop seemed like fun and since I'm a poor college student OKW was out! :) Like I said I was a little worried about staying at Pop because I'm not used to a value but everyone on here has made me so happy that I picked this resort. I think we're going to have a lot of fun and the resort just seems so Disney. I'm glad now I picked this resort, I think DBF will have a lot of fun being completely immersed in all of the Disneyness of this resort. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all of the amazing information and reassurance. Thank you!!!:thanks:

We're staying at Pop Sept 19-26 and I absolutely positively cannot wait!! Last year we stayed at All Star Sports which was fine and all, but I truly love Pop and can't wait to go back! I just booked a room for the inlaws for the same dates, and was nervous that they wouldn't get a room at Pop, but no probs. I'm really starting to get super excited now....

Are there any POP stroller swaps going on? We are looking for one from April 10-16th.

Thanks.

Thanks, looks like those dates are already booked. I'm prety much just looking for a single as oldest is too big for one anymore.

Thanks though and have fun!

So I've never been to Disney's Boardwalk. I actually didn't nkow it was anything other than a hotel. I'm thinking on our next trip we're going to have a day in the middle where we don't go to any theme parks. If we want to go to the boardwalk, what is the best way to get there from POP?

I would take the Hollywood Studios Bus and then a boat to Boardwalk.

We are staying at Pop April 5 - 12th. What are the chances we will receive an upgrade to our room reservations for free? I have been told that this happens often? Do any of you ask for it during check in. Is there an option with the on-line check in? How much bigger is the room if it is upgraded?

I'm talking FREE upgrades?

There's not much that they can upgrade at Pop. The room isn't bigger ~ it's just the location. It's unlikely that you'll get upgraded because the preferred location gets booked. There are many people with walking issues that book these rooms. I wouldn't bother with it unless you have a walking issue. The walk from the farthest room is less than 10 minutes if you walk real slow. And you want to see all of the themeing anyways.

How long is the boat ride?

It'll take you maybe 5-10 minutes to walk from the bus to the boat dock. Then you'll need to wait for a boat which could be 0-20 minutes. The boat ride to boardwalk is maybe 10-15 minutes. If time is an issue, then you can skip the walk to the dock, wait for boat, and the boat ride by just walking to the Boardwalk. It's a 15 minute stroll.

Upgrades really do not happen often and when it does happen the resort is not at full capacity. We've never asked for a free upgrade at any resort, but have been upgraded 3 times: AKL, POP and SSR. We simply pay for what meets our needs and budget and delighted if we happen to be upgraded. ::yes::

At POP all rooms are exactly the same in size and decor - the only "upgrade" at POP would be to a preferred location...rooms closer to the food court/lobby/buses etc. We prefer the non-preferred rooms as we like to lakeside. Nothing is a terrible walk - we've walked much further at a deluxe many times!

Have a great trip!

Our Pop stay (first ever!) is coming up March 22-28th and I'd really like to have a 4th floor fireworks view. From what I've read the best way to maybe get this is to send a fax 4 days ahead of my check in date asking for that? I need to find the right tone between groveling and sounding entitled. :rotfl: Also we need a pack-n-play for the baby. It should be clear in my reservations but should I restate that on the fax? Any thing I should add to the fax to make it looked upon more kindly? Would an actual phone call work better?

Oh my gosh... so excited.

If you phone, you will not reach the front desk, but rather a call center which answers for all resorts. They can take requests (will not tell you it is not the front desk as they answer "Front desk").

Not every resort reads the fax request, but it certainly is worth a try. Here is a fax suggestion from the allears site: http://allears.net/acc/cro1.htm

It would be worth going to the link and reading the page because there is a lot of helpful and important info before you fax (such as keeping requests short, never more than 3, and to be sure your request actually exists) - here is the example allears suggests.

The following is a wonderful SAMPLE of what you should include in your fax. My thanks to Tori Mask for contributing it. Please note that dates used are fictitious.

Greetings from Texas!

Our first magical Disney vacation is finally (almost!) here and I wanted to see if you could possibly accommodate our room requests for Sept. 20-29. We have a courtyard view, need a nonsmoking room, would like to be on the fifth floor, and would love it if we could see the fireworks from the balcony. Our little Mouseketeers are 5 and 7, so they would really like a room with the bunk beds, too! Thank you in advance for any help you can give us in making our first visit wonderful!

Buckeye Gal - First off, this thread is AMAZING! You did a great job and I was so excited to find this after a friend suggested this board to me.

I still have over 80 pages to read, but I had a quick question.

I have a 4 year old and a 13 month old. We would like to be not too far from the kiddie pool, water jets, playground and parking. I can tell from the map links that we can't be close to it all, but it's not too far of a walk either. Since the kids may be pooped out some nights, we may end up back at the hotel when fireworks are going off. I was thinking that maybe it would be nice then to be somewhere that my husband and I can see them from right outside our door while the kids sleep. Based on all that and the awesome maps, I am thinking that maybe 3rd or 4th floor of the 60's - Building 4. Thoughts?

THANKS!

That would be a great location, but not all of those rooms will have a view of the frieworks so be sure to add that to your requests. For example:
60's
4th floor
fireworks view

And be sure to ask if it is available when you check in - even of that is not where you were assigned they can try to find you a room that would fiut those requests.

Have a great trip!!!:goodvibes
