I think it's just an issue with DH because he is so tall. He's nearly 6'4", so the beds were about 2 inches too short for him!

He was uncomfortable, and had a tough time getting a comfortable, restful sleep.

Other people will probably not have an issue, but I know personally, when DD gets bigger and needs her own bed, there is no way I will be able to share a double bed with DH!

My DH is 6'6"-7" so we requested a King Bed, with an connecting room for our boys. The price was better than the suites. We leave next month for our trip, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Sooo I have stayed at POP in '05 and '07...with college friends and we had a GREAT time. I mean no debate about that. But after reading these boards, I keep hearing how loud it is and how the noise keeps people up? I dont remember it being bad at all when i was there...but maybe im a sound sleeper I guess? We are going in October with my mom and I am worried about picking a resort where she won't be comfortable

We stayed at Pop in August and honestly had no problems with noise. We were in the Lady building and didn't experience any problems

I never had problems with nosie either. Only occasionally did I hear inside noise like toilets. They say shut your bathroom door and you won't hear anything, but I really never did anyways on our two trips. I only heard outside noise once one morning and we were lakeside 70's. Last year we were poolside (first floor both times) and never heard anything.

I don't know why people don't think the values are good enough. Perhaps it is perspective?
We have a big family so we don't travel often. Honestly, Pop is the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at. It's nicer than the one we use on our drive down, and quite a bit cheaper!
I guess if I was used to room service, concierge, etc., I'd worry about it.
All we really need is a nice, safe place to sleep. Pop MORE than fits the bill.
I feel bad we don't have the time to check it out more!

I have always said that if a lot of money dropped in my lap, I might be tempted to try a deluxe, at least once.
But then I'd probably be back at Pop. Just more frequently! LOL

We are really hoping to go in Sept. So far so good.
I'm hoping for free dining to be announced, and then I will book.
We will need three rooms now, so I need to get the best deal possible.
Still not sure what they will do with three rooms, but only TWO adults between them!

I called to see if there was a free dining pin attached to my name, but alas, there was not. [Got a REALLY nice CM though. Should have told her my "who do I put in what room" problem and have her help me.]

Nice chatting with you all! This sure is a friendly bunch. Proving my theory that trips to WDW cause happiness. LOL

Well, I am by no means used to room service or concierge. We typically stay where ever is chear. We forked over the extra cash for a moderate last year because we figured since we don't have kids yet, now would be the time. And I just LOVED the grounds at POR. I'm thinking the lake at POP might be enough to make me like it better than the other values.

Well, we do enjoy the Deluxe resorts and have stayed at many, many times over since 1981...but when POP opened decided to try it and we were very pleasantly surprised. ::yes:: Once we got into the spirit, we really enjoyed the resort. CM's are so nice..and there must be a decade for everyone - we prefer Lady and Tramp for our childhood memories.

If you only stay deluxe, it will be an adjustment, but think of it as a fun adventure - now when we stay deluxe we miss the POP food court.

POP is definitely my fav during December!

Sure, the service is different and it is a more active environment, but it's fun. Now that we tend to go for 4/5 ngts at time we alternate between deluxe and POP, with an occasional moderate stay. With prices at our favorite deluxe sky high, we enjoy POP just fine. :thumbsup2

Also, the buses are way better at POP than Poly, GF, CR, WL, BW/BC/BC/YC. Dedicated buses, no sharing. Wonderful! Bus stops at the parks are a hike, but nothing we can do about that. ;)

Enjoy your stay!!

We had a great stay at POP from the 29th to the 5th. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room - I expected it to feel much smaller. Without our even asking, they gave us and FIL connecting rooms, which was perfect.

I did NOT like sharing a double bed with DH, but we knew we wouldn't, going in. We prefer a firm mattress and found it comfortable, just not big enough. Our hips were aching, but we attributed it to all the walking (I have bursitis in my right hip), not to the beds.

The noise wasn't bad - we could hear flushing and showers, and if someone was moving in or out, some occasional banging. Nothing disruptive, really.

We had a towel animal waiting for us when we arrived, just a wee one, and a cute larger one on our last full day. Mousekeeping didn't do anything much otherwise, but did a perfectly good job cleaning. I started playing with the stuffies and posing them in the window and such when I saw that she wasn't doing it, and the kids thought it was so much fun.

I cannot for the life of me imagine getting a laptop into that safe. Our safe looked very, very small.

Good water pressure, clean rooms and carpets and nice colours and furnishings. It was just fine for the price, I had no complaints.

Oh, yes - I had one complaint. I didn't like the wakeup call being that obnoxious Stitch every morning. I do not like Stitch. But that's really not a POP issue, now is it? lol. DH thought the hike to the POP bus stop from the parks was awful, but I didn't think it was a big deal.

We'd stay there again, I'm sure - just DH wants to stay at Poly next time, as he hasn't been there since he was a teenager on their first visit. We probably won't be at Disney for another two or three years, so I guess if I can save up...myself, I'd like to try CBR.

I just returned from my first stay at Pop, Feb. 9-12. We usually stay at Wilderness Lodge (trying AKL next trip) and I had never stayed at a value before, so I was a little apprehensive. This short trip was just myself and my 5 year old daughter. We were in the 90's section, and it seemed very far from Classic Hall. We were orignally in the 50's section, but when I asked the CM at check in what floor we were on, she said the ground floor. My one and only request on my ressie was to NOT be on the ground floor, because without my husband with us I would feel safer on a higher floor. I'm sure we would have been closer to Classic Hall had we stayed in the 50's section, but not being on the ground floor was more important to me than convenience. Overall, I was pleased with the hotel. The room was clean, although small. The food court had a good selection, but was very crowded and chaotic, and the lines were always slow moving. It was strange to me to have queues for the bus stops, since at WL you just sit on a bench until your bus comes; you don't line up. But I quickly realized why.... the resort is so huge you really have to have lines, otherwise it would be a free for all. The beds were comfy and bed bug free. (Yes, I check) I could hear some noise from other rooms, namely toilets flushing and the hair dryer runnng. The buses were very prompt. Our longest wait was 15 minutes the morning we went to Epcot for EMH. The bus ride to MK seemed very long. Again, spoiled by WL. I would say I was pleasantly surprised by the resort. :thumbsup2

queues at the hotel for the bus?? Crazy. That might seem a little odd. I really liked just sitting on a bench waiting for the bus at POR. I wonder if the lines are long all day or just in the early morning?

I can't imagine not having them. Lines can be really long early on and in the evenings. It's not uncommon for another buss to arrive a few minutes after one just took off becuase it was full. It would be a free for all, and unless you could get good at knocking others over, you could be trampled, or just never get on a bus. LOL! :wizard:

My stay overlapped with the PP's, and I would say that the lines were hectic probably from about 8 AM to 10 AM (for rope drop) and then again between 4 PM and 6 PM (for fireworks, dinner ressies, etc.). During the rest of the day, it was very quiet and quick.

There are benches lining the back of the bus depot area if you'd prefer to sit, but if there already lines forming, it'd be in your best interest to stay in line!

We were at POR last year. We never went to a rope drop. So by the time we went, we were some of the very few people waiting for the bus at our stop. And one night coming back from MK...we were the only people on the bus.

I'm definately not opposed to staying at a moderate or a deluxe in theory.
[I have heard that POR is really beautiful.]
I even priced out staying in two rooms with the trundle bed at POR,
hoping it would be cheaper than 3 rooms at Pop, but Pop is still cheaper.
I just kind of giggle that people would believe Pop to be anything but nice,
just because it cost less.
I have found all things Disney to be nice. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone. I am new here (this is my first ever posts having just joined the forums).

I have actually been reading these forums for a few weeks, and making decisions as to where and when to go for my first ever visit to Walt Disney World.

I have decided to stay at Pop Century Resort (entirely due to you good folks on this thread). Having booked I am suddenly irrationally excited beyond belief.

I decided to leave where I was going to stay in Pop to the Room fairies, so haven't made any requests at all.

We are going from 19th April for two weeks - yaaaaaay :yay: :woohoo:

Thanks everyone on this thread for passing on all the information (and for your enthusiasm)

Congrats on booking your trip. :thumbsup2 I too was very excited when I booked my trip back in Oct. We will also be staying at Pop for 2 weeks but our trip is not until the end of May. This will be our 1st stay at Pop as well.

Happy Planning & Best Wishes for a great trip!

Welcome!
This is my third trip to Pop and I am still super excited! :yay:

Thanks for the welcomes. I have never been to Florida before, so that in itself is getting me excited.

The photographs of Pop really look great fun. Basically we need a place to sleep whilst visiting the Parks - but it is an added bonus to have such lovely looking pools and buildings.
