Is the in-room hair dryer ok, or should I bring mine from home?
VERY weak!
I didn't bring mine in 2007 and my hair would never get dried all the way, and it was so wimpy. Even DD's fine hair took forever to dry. (my hair isn't all that thick either)
So last year I brought my own and will again this year.
I have heard some reports that they have had good ones. So either a few of them are decent or some people are just used to a lower blowing hairdryer. Which could be, as alot of dryers they sell are pretty wimpy. I get a salon one. (I'm a stylest)

I have a Babyliss Pro Porcelain Ceramic Micro Dryer that I travel with. It is really small and has great power.

I usually use a Twin Turbo (professional dryer) and I would say this is a pretty good comparison for a travel size dryer. I got mine for about $15 at a hair show, but I think they retail for about $30 to $40 and IMHO still a great price for a travel item!

This is what I intend to fax them... does this seem reasonable?
for our 4 night stay April 28-May 2

"request: 4137-4159, 5113-5136, 3137-3159 or 1137-1159"

does that give them enough options?

Should I add the text of:
"1st floor, non-preferred, 50's or 60's"

or are the room numbers enough?

thanks!

I definitely wouldn't list room numbers I would put the section such as 50's then 1st flr etc etc. You have a better chance of getting your request without an actual room numbers. Our last trip in August I requested 50's, groundl flr, pool view and I was so happy all my requests were filled we were literally 5 footsteps from the bowling pin pool! :)

I have fine hair and the blow dryer was horrible. The first day I used it and my DH asked when I would be ready, I said I was and he asked why I wasn't drying my hair. I would bring your own.

Question I haven't found the answer to yet--

I've seen elsewhere that they mention POP century having a playground?

We are DVCers and have only ever stayed at SSR, which has a playground. I'm taking a sudden, impromptu trip in May with just my (will be turning) 5 y.o who is up at 5 a.m. every day. I'd love to know if POP does indeed have a playground, and if so, where?

:-)

Look at Post #1 for description and some photos under Resort Entertainment. There is a small playground between Classic Hall and Building #10 the "Hot Wheels" building in the 70's section. Take the path between Classic Hall and Building #10 toward the Bus Stop and the 90's parking lot. You will see the playground on the left.

It can be easy to miss though. I never once saw it in 2007, even though I practically walked by it daily. I actually looked last year and saw it.

Speaking of hard to find...

We spent two nights at Pop last May and wanted to find the Potato Heads icons. It took many requests from CMs and lots of walking to find them! Many CMs had no idea where they were located. We finally got directions from some friendly maintanence guys.

BTW, we loved Pop so much that we're spending our 20th Anniversary there!

How on earth can the CM's not know where they were?

Buckeyegirl, I wanted to make you aware of two things on the first page. One is that the new mug picture link isn't working now. So maybe it got deleted or moved? I'll take some next week though. And the thing about ADR's states to make them at 180, and it is now 90 days.
And I can't confirm this for sure, but I think all the cakes went up to $15 from what I read, but I'll try to look and see for sure when I get there. I know the new celebration ones are for sure that you get at restaurants.

THANKS!!!! I totally forgot that the ADR date was even mentioned in Post #1. :)

I'm not having any problem opening up the link to the picture for the 2009 mug. It's a link to DISUnplugged. Can someone else give it a try, please?

Works for me! :thumbsup2

BTW- great thread- very informative with TONS of useful info! :worship: Thanks for keeping it going!!

Where are they located?

See the map link on Post 1. From Classic Hall facing the Hippy Dippy Pool turn left and go through the 70's section toward the 70's parking lot. As you pass the far end of the 70's section (Foosball men courtyard) you'll see the Potato Heads as you turn left to go toward the 80's/90's section.

Question...is it really worth the money for preferred rooms at Pop? We had preferred at Movies and were soooooo close (1 min walk) to the food court we could get a coffee and walk right back to the room. We had preferred at POR and we couldn't, it would take 6-8minutes to walk to and from the food court.

Is it worth it to pay for preferred?

Also, the lay out of the resort is close to Movies, should I request the same location (building #) we had at Movies in Pop. Do you really get what you want if you request a building number?

We had a preferred room last time and loved it, we were right by the hippy dippy pool and real close to the main building (food court, gift shop and busses) We loved the area we were in. You can request a building, but it does not guarantee you will get it. With that being said, we got all of our requests last year.
